Ranchito used to be good before the new management took over. There's absolutely no quality/portion control and staff don't even know their own menu. I ordered a supreme breakfast burrito ($8.99) which I've ordered plenty of times before. As the name suggests, it has a little bit of everything (potatoes, chorizo, ham, cheese, etc.) I ordered it this past Sunday and they had no idea wtf goes into the burrito and when I listed what's included, they decided to charge me extra for a potato egg burrito with added chorizo and bacon. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR RECEIPT. This isn't the first time they've sneaked fees either, I've had to dispute a previous order with my bank because Ranchito charged me HIDDEN FEES not listed on my receipt. PLEASE PLEASE CHECK YOUR FOOD AND RECEIPTS BEFORE LEAVING THIS PLACE. Food is still good, just sad this establishment is scamming the Waller community after so many good years. read more

Authenticity at its best here! My friend recommended coming here since I wanted good Mexican food. This is not a fancy place. You will notice the staff members are ladies and gents who have clearly been in the business for many years cooking up a storm. The ladies are sweet and carry a smile on their faces. The gents are whipping all the food up in the back. You know it's gonna be good! We sat down and ordered a large horchata. First off- REALLY GOOD horchata! I've moved to the Pacific NW and it's hard to find horchata that is tasty and not made from a pouch. We were immediately served warm chips and 2 salsas. DELICIOUS! Both salsas were amazing! I ordered the #18, tampiquena, which has fajita steak, 2 cheese enchiladas, rice, beans, and guacamole, with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. My friend also got the verde chicken enchiladas. Those babies were stuffed and plenty of sauce on top. The steak in my order was tender and flavorful. The beans and rice were a perfect match to accompany the steak. The tortillas were warm and plentiful. Prices are very affordable, food comes out quickly, and the service is pretty good. It's a good place for lunch or to pick up something quick. Been here many times, usually get great service. Usually get greated as soon as you enter. Today we went at 10am, sat down and no one greeted us for about 10 mins. Table was wet so we had to dry it off. Finally someone asked if anyone took our drink order. So this waitress took our order for coffee. When she finally returned 3-5 mins later with the coffee it was just warm, not hot or fresh. This same waitress took our order but never returned. No one checked on us or came by to refill coffee. So, we got up and left and decided to go somewhere else to eat. Not sure if we will every go back. We have been going there for years breakfast and dinner. Like I said we usually have great service but today seemed like no one cared and no one even looked happy to be at work. They were not slammed but there was plenty of people already seated and eating. after we came in only 2 more customers came in before we left. This place really needs a deep cleaning, maybe some simple upgrades like paint and new clean menus, maybe some new coffee cups, they still have the old brown cups from the 80's . read more

I'm not from here, I am from Fort Worth, Texas here on business staying at the hotel across the street. I was pretty excited that there was a Mexican restaurant right across the street. I am Mexican American, and I love my food and my culture. This is not authentic Mexican food, I don't know what this is. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. They were filled with what I can. Guess is Velveeta or some sort of American style cheese, liquid, nacho cheese on top, mixed with canned chili sauce. I paid $10 for the meal and it was probably worth two dollars if that. A good 10 minutes after I ate I felt sick. And yes I ate because I'm not in the habit of wasting money. If I could've given zero stars, I would have, but I'll let them have the one star for how clean their restaurant is, staff is very clean and neat, but I did not eat there. I haven't visited this establishment in years but I was in the area and my daughter wanted a beef fajitas burrito with only beef and cheese, no other fixings added. I ordered 2 burritos and 2 pineapple jarritos soda in thr glass bottles. I spent $20 and some change! Geeez, those burritos have went up in price. I remember when they were $3.99 each. Poor service, waited an hour to get food. Enough servers that we got 3refills of coffee. No offering of chips for the wait, no milk, orange juice or even apple juice for the kids- had to go to Family Dollar for juice. A family that was seated after us got their drinks first, their meal first & when they had 2extra family members come THEY were served next & at this point we still didn't have food. The restaurant was not full. Got up to leave & after asking the waitress (kept passing us each time with no update to our food) and surprise surprise the food came out. We stayed but left no tip. Last night we were dying for some good Mexican food in the little town of Waller. We've seen this little place packed full for breakfast many times so we thought we'd give it a shot for dinner. Our family all ordered the Taco Al Carbon, which is 2 fajita soft tacos, rice and beans pico de gio and guacamole. Only for about $8-$10a plate. It's was perfect! The meat was thinly sliced and fresh tortillas. Fresh Pico, and guacamole! The only thing I would change is my pico made the taco soggy because it was in a Togo plate. My mom and I found this place on Yelp, so we decided to try it after a day of shopping at the 290 outlets. No regrets! They bring your chips and salsa immediately (always a plus). The chips are the perfect thickness and crunch, and the two salsas ... out of this world I especially liked the creamy dried chile one. The salsa roja was more standard, but still tasty. There are tons of menu options, almost all of which are less than $10. My mom got an a la cart tostada and I got the pastor plate. Both were generous portions of authentically prepared Mexican food. The pastor was extremely rich and some of the most tender I've had. The beef fajita on my mom's tostada was beautifully chopped and tasted delicious. In addition, the staff is extremely friendly. Although the atmosphere is a bit of a dive, it is perfectly clean and cute. I don't live near this restaurant, but if I were anywhere in the general area, I'd 100% make a trip back. read more

This taqueria was across the street from my hotel, and they start serving breakfast at 5 or 5:30AM in the morning. The folks at the hotel (which serves its own breakfast) had recommended this as the place to go. Decor is simple, nothing fancy, brightly colored. The tables have napkins at the table--that might seem like a silly thing to note, but everywhere else I ate in Texas I was given one single flimsy napkin and always had to ask for extras. I loved it that they had napkins on hand so I could use what I needed. I was offered a choice of beverages and stuck with water--which came in a super tall glass. Again, it's the little things, I'm from the West Coast, was on a 48 hour work trip to Texas and was very tired and for some reason, also dehydrated. I loved it that I had a massive tumbler of water to start my day. I decided on the marinated pork with bacon and eggs. (For the record--everything on the menu is very low priced, and this meal was under $6.00.) I was asked if I wanted corn or flour tortillas--I'm half Mexican American and grew up in a corn tortilla household so I very much appreciated this. My food came out very quickly, and the plate was substantial, They also brought out salsa, and there were additional hot sauces at the table. The bacon and eggs were great, but the real winner was the marinated pork! The potatoes were crispy, which is always nice, but with so much other substantial food and the corn tortillas, there was thankfully only a small quantity. A word about the service--for my part I found the wait staff courteous and fast. They aren't overly friendly, but it didn't seem to be about me personally, it was 6AM and they were working. The breakfast was great, and extremely low priced (compared to where I am from). I suspect the waitstaff may warm up a bit more with their regulars, but they weren't mean either. In that kind of environment I'm fine, I'm there to eat, and honestly, I don't necessarily need an emotional connection with every server in the place to be able to give a high rating. The quick service and great breakfast spoke for itself. If I'd had more days in Waller, I would have eaten here for breakfast every single day. read more

Ive been here before and its been good but i went in there to order 2 taco plates and ended up only getting the tacos for the $12. I apologized and said i must've not explained myself well and the lady at the front with the hairy arms was being very rude about how i didn't ask for the plate . She told me the price was $21.10 and I asked her if the tacos were included because i had already gotten them. Really good place for authentic Mexican food. Its pretty cheap, and love it here. Definitely coming back. Service was great, and by reading the comments I know which server they were talking about. It's this old lady, I asked her for another horchata and she was rude and never brought it to me. My server was good tho. She was nice and attentive to us. Just an FYI: Not every server there is mean or rude. My server was really great!!! I honestly think that old lady should just change her attitude towards the customers. Horchata was really good, and the large is 32 oz, which is more than enough. Really reccomend the Horchata. Small, charming place. It can get crowded at times, and service can get slow but it's worth the wait. I love it here. Only giving it 4 stars because of that rude lady, other than that it is soooo good here. read more
