If you want a quick, affordable, tasty Italian meal, this is your solution! They have awesome pastas and good portion sizes with most dishes $10-15. This is one of my sister and her bf's fave spots so they come often and brought me here while I was in town for the weekend. I hadn't eaten for a while after a long drive and was so pumped for a hearty meal. I ordered the mac and cheese and the fried green beans to start. The green beans are coated in a beer batter so it's tempura-like. Very crispy and crunchy, and well seasoned. I didn't love the wasabi cucumber dip (mostly because I'm not a wasabi fan). But a creamy aioli goes well with this. Something with lemon and garlic could be nice too. As for the mac and cheese it was a super sharp cheddar sauce. There was bacon pieces and broccoli mixed in. It was filling and good. The sauce could have been a bit creamier, but I didn't mind the sharpness because cheese is amazing. My sister had the gnocchi lasagna and I had a few bites. It isn't really a lasagna, but rather includes the ingredients you'd find in lasagna. So it's basically gnocchi mixed with mozzarella, blush sauce, and roasted veggies. I went to The Quick Fixx on a Sunday afternoon looking for a quick, tasty and reasonably priced lunch and that's exactly what I got. I had the Spaghetti and Meatballs (upgraded to Meaty Marinara) and my friend had the veggie Gnocchi Lasagna. We both really liked our dishes. The meatballs in my spaguetti were delicious, noodles were really good (not positive, but they tasted fresh) and the sauce was good, although I like my marinara more heavily seasoned. I did not try my friend's gnocchi lasagna, but it looked amazing - the gnocchi was perfectly seared. In short, this is a perfect place for a quick lunch or dinner that's gonna be satisfying and won't hurt your pocket. Updated Review (10/17): the Quick Fixx has long been our neighborhood go to for quick, healthy and delicious dinners. More recently I've had the opportunity to test out their catering services and could not have been happier. We had a sudden death in the family and in the haze of grief, having to plan a funeral and luncheon services was an incredibly daunting task. Having been to events catered by the Quick Fixx in the past, I reached out the owner Matt to talk about using them as our caterer for the service. We could not have been happier with our decision. Why? 1) Incredible customer service: the folks at the Quick Fixx were amazing, given the already difficult time we we're going through. They made planning a menu easy and their food estimates were spot on. They took care of the plates, cutlery and napkins, and Matt delivered the food personally to ensure that the set up met his high standards. 2) Food quality: we were expecting around 200 people for the luncheon and as most of us have experienced in the past, usually the higher the number the people, the lower the quality the food. This was not the case with Quick Fixx - the high quality of the food I get when ordering for one or two people was almost identical for this large scale event. The diversity of the selection of salads, pastas and proteins left everyone happy as there was something for everyone. People commented throughout the luncheon how good the food was and went back for seconds and sometimes thirds. 3) Pricing: While price sensitivity wasn't necessarily an issue in choosing Quick Fixx, the pricing was extremely competitive. Prices seem reasonable for such quality ingredients. However, the service and atmosphere is what pushed it up to 5 stars for me. Love the big round tables at the front of the restaurant with the wide windows open out to the street. Perfect meet up spot with a girlfriend on a sunny spring day! I was surprised they would have such nice servingware and even give us a bottle of tap water to share. This might be my new Sunday afternoon stop. I only wish it was a little closer to me. I grabbed a fun guy flatbread and panzarotti poppers. The flat bread was cheesy and covered in mushrooms and a big pile of arugula. The crust is thin, but not super thin, and not very crunchy, although I wonder if the crust just got a little soggy on my walk home. The poppers were super tasty, almost like a crab rangoon without the crab. They are little puff balls filled with goat cheese and scallions with a sweet sauce on the side for dipping. Some of the best I've ever had, and coming from a family where schnitzel is a staple, that says a lot (Google that if you don't know, if you do know, then you also know that if my grandmother saw this, she'd be pissed). What do you get the chicken cutlet with? The Greek Orzo Salad. You also add it to any custom pasta you create. Custom pasta. Yes. That's right! You can make your own dish, whether it's pasta or salad. AMAZING. I go for that pretty often, and find myself stuck on a combo of penne/rigatoni, chicken cutlet, creamy tomato sauce, broccoli, onions, mushrooms. SO SO GOOD. Big tip: you may want to split a pasta dish with the roomie, friend, or spouse... add a salad and you have the perfect meal. Don't heed my warning and you may feel a little stuffed. People less decent and honorable than I tell me affixing an extra X to a name is a popular branding technique of adult film stars. Coxx, Roxx, Boxx, people who lack my moral compass and Rick Santorum bumper sticker collection tell me, as examples, are popular choices. So with this purely academic knowledge, it was surprising when I saw it was indeed Quick Fixx, with that extra sexy (sexxy?) 'x.' The Fixx flatbread ($8) with white sauce, bacon, caramelized onions and gruyere was rich and filling. However, the richness really covered up the salty pork flavor I was hoping would counter the inherent heaviness. The caramelized onions were done right and added great flavor, managing to stand out slightly. The dish is very good, I was just hoping for a little more balance, that extra level that makes it pop. Despite the Shaq-sized palmfuls of cheese the crust held up admirably and added a nice little crunch. Gnocchi ($12) was the definition of A-OK: absolutely fine, the bolognese was very tasty on its own, but nothing that I can say a lot about, other than you wouldn't be in harm's way ordering it. QF also has a snack/late night/late chance to ditch that ugo you met at closing time menu. It's an admirable step up from your typical late night eateries and includes Panzarotti poppers ($7), dubbed as mini fried dough balls filled with goat cheese, shallots and chives. They seem baked to me, though. Tagging along is an apple jam sauce that provides a kick of sweetness to the velvety goat cheese. Parmigiano-Reggiano dusted fries ($3, big enough to share) come with ketchup and toum--a Lebanese garlic sauce similar to aioli but with olive oil. Push the Heinz to the side and focus on this. The service is top notch. Concern gushes from who I presumed to be the owner like blood from a gun shot wound. The sheer brute dedication to his business mirrors what Kenneth the Page has for 30 Rock. The prices, portions, and quality match up well. Very close to 4 stars. I'll be back. read more

It isn't fancy enough to be a date place but it definitely beats the living hell out of your I'll-pick-up-dinner-on-the-way-home-from-work-cheesesteak/Chinese/pizza place. The flatbread kicks ass. I had their signature, "The fixx," flatbread and consumed practically the entire thing myself within a matter of minutes. The toppings are signature sauce, caramelized onions, gruyere, and glorious bacon. The bruschetta is really great. I've paid 3x more for crappier bruchsetta at nice restaurants with soft napkins. The dusted artichoke is good but makes a hefty mess everywhere. The man who runs the establishment, Mark, is really friendly and savvy. Gluten-free pasta items. Great customer service. They honor special requests. You can customize EVERYTHING. Oh, and you can do it all online through Grubhub. Tried this place after a lengthy search for gluten-free Italian items. My challenge is not only do I not eat gluten, I also can't eat dairy, garlic, onions, mushrooms, and all manner of other delicious and very common items. I like them all they just don't like me back. I went with the gluten-free spaghetti and puttanesca sauce with added roasted red peppers and shrimp. I wrote in a note asking the sauce to be made sans onion and garlic and the dish that arrived was delicious and danger-free! E ordered the tomato and bacon sauce on linguine with olives and prosciutto added and while we waited his hunger made him question if he had ordered enough substance. We called to see if they could add some meatballs for us and they had already put the pasta in a dish and it was ready to go. However, they put some meatballs and sauce in a container for us and sent it along with the rest. He was very happy with his dish (side note: the portions are enormous. Like a pound+ of pasta) and the meatballs were phenomenal. I stole a bite to verify this although the guy on the phone informed me they are not gluten-free. My only gripe is I wish they used a different type of GF pasta. Tinkyada has a much better texture than whatever they use and holds up better to sauces and time. When I called to place my order, the guy at the other end of the line sounded less-than-thrilled. Not in a "meh, I hate my job" kind of way... but in a profoundly sad "sigh... I have no reason to live" sort of way. Whatever... as long as the food's good, who cares? Right? Well, the food was just as depressing as the person who took my order. The artichoke was inedible. The leaves tasted like the pointy end of a manila envelope, soaked in olive oil. The artichoke heart was barely-there. The mushroom "flatbread" looked exactly like something I would slap together at 3am after a hearty night of drinking...and the flatbread was named "Fun Guy"...puns have absolutely no place on a food menu. Since the Quick Fixx opened a few months ago, I have become guilty of eating dinner there 4-sometimes-5 nights a week. The food is fresh, hot, made-to-order, and (true to their name) quick. The delivery is ridiculously fast, and sometimes it has been less than 20 minutes after calling until my food shows up. The prices are fairly reasonable considering I typically have enough food left over for lunch or a snack the following day. When eating in, I find the staff to be friendly and accommodating. The menu is somewhat limited, although the Build-Your-Own flatbreads, pastas, and salads give you a considerable number of options. When you are in a hurry or just want a decent meal without spending a lot of money or time, I definitely recommend the Quick Fixx. *UPDATE 8/8/2012* Although I was really pulling for this place to succeed, I am sad to report that the enthusiasm I had once felt for the Quick Fixx has disappeared. At this point it is extremely rare that the poorly trained staff actually gets orders correct, which totally defeats the purpose of a "Create Your Own" menu. In fact, if you call to place your order, it may feel as though you are talking to an alien who has never before used a telephone. Delivery has gotten much slower, and when the food finally shows up it is either cold, incorrect, or a mangled mess (sometimes all of the above). Though it doesn't have that crisp crunch of wood grilled flats, it's perfectly delicious...especially when topped with cheese and bacon (The Fixx). ProTip: Unless you enjoy shiny pizzas, ask for light cheese on your Fixx. The bruschetta is a fresh amalgamation of juicy diced tomatoes and basil with the proper amount of salt to accentuate the fruits' natural acidity. What do I want when dining alone, obviously a perfectly portioned delicious flatbread with a side of arugula! I was torn between the Lancaster and the and the Prosciutto, but wound up opting for the Lancaster. It was delicious. With my side of arugula and prosciutto, I was quite the content solo diner. I dropped by for take-out and got the Fun Guy Flatbread and the Gnocchi Lasagna that everyone raved about. I loved the heaping amount of arugula on the Fun Guy. The flat bread is thinner of others that I've tried in the city. I can't say I was impressed by this dish because I've had better. The portion may look large, but like I said, the crust is really thin, and the mushrooms were concentrated in the middle. I would give this dish 3 stars. Quick Fixx is a nice option to have when you don't feel like getting dressed to go out, but need a break from the neighborhood pizza joints. Along with pizza of the classier flatbread variety, they have a lot of Italian dishes as well. At first glance, the prices seem good. $9 for a rigatoni platter as an example. But I must say the portions are pretty small. I definitely suggest ordering the salad to make a substantial meal. My rigatoni was pretty good, nice and garlicky which this Italian girl appreciates. My husband got chicken parm and said it was ok. I regret not getting the gnocchi lasagna since everyone seems to like that. Quick Fixx doesn't deliver to my house, so I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to get it again, it it is a nice option. read more

I'm torn as to what review my most recent experience here. The food was definitely 3 stars.. possibly closer to 4. However, the cleanliness of the dining area and friendliness of the staff made me side with a 2 star review. I came in here on a weeknight and it was relatively quiet in here. We ordered the Bruschetta appetizer, the gnocchi lasagna, and the goat cheese salad. We sat down at a table, which still had some crumbs on it, and waited for our food. The bruschetta came out quickly and was alright- nothing amazing. I enjoyed both the salad and the pasta- although I wish the mozzarella on the pasta was more melted vs being cubed. The real disappointment was the amount of flies in the dining area. It was hard to enjoy the food when we were constantly swatting the flies away from our food. It was at least 3-4 surrounding us at a time... if this is how the dining area is, makes me wonder the cleanliness of the kitchen. The waiter was TOO nice. Too nice and too friendly that he talked almost too much haha but he was so kind to explain the menu, his favorites, how each dish can be different from the others. It kinda of gives off a fast food (called Quick Fixx!) vibe b/c it's not a huge romantic restaurant. but it's actually really cool how this kind of a place is BYOB. I got the gnocchi. There was so much meat, I actually wanted less of it. Gnocchi was so chewy! I also think it's made of ricotta, not potatoes, so that's a plus! I did think it was a little greasy but that may be from the abundant meat. (or maybe it was too cheesy..can't really tell...)The prices are all reasonable and the portions are decent for it's price. We were lured over to Quick Fixx by the cute curbside "parkette" and checked out the menu. It was a perfect combo of eclectic small plates with some comfort food and great prices. I stopped in today for lunch. Upon entering, i was greeted warmly by the staff. The cashier explained how the quick fixx menu works (chef-prepared items on the front; build-your-own options on the back). I opted for the orzo salad with grilled veggies and goat cheese. Tasty! The veggies are warm and the orzo is chilled, but you can ask them to warm the pasta for you if you prefer. The salad includes ginger which, at first, i thought would be an odd choice. But it worked! The flatbreads here are great! My favorite was the fun guy with truffled mushrooms, garlic, fontina, and a hint of rosemary. It was savory and crispy with the perfect blend of toppings. I'm not from the area, so when I read the reviews and saw the high rating I had no way of knowing this was not an Italian restaurant. This is Italian fast food. A few steps above Pizza Hut for sure, but it still boils down to the classiest Prego I've ever been served. I knew the moment I walked in this wasn't what I had signed on for. Plastic stools, plastic semi-communal tables laid out strangely, loud dance music, drinks in the cooler, plastic cups instead of glasses, plastic plates, etc. But it was late and we were short on time, and I'm guessing people usually come here in similar situations. I built my own pasta, an option I had been really exited about but resigned myself to being disappointed with. I was. I got fettuccine in a tomato cream sauce with mushrooms. The mushrooms didn't seem fresh, and there wasn't a lot of sauce and it wasn't very creamy, which was fine because it was bland anyway. They apparently make their own fresh pasta. I'm not sure what the story is with that but it didn't help the dish any, I can tell you that much. My friend got penne in a tomato garlic sauce, my friend rigatoni in a regular tomato sauce- both tasted exactly the same and both tasted pretty similar to mine. I think this a place people come to drunk, or when they're craving late night Italian and don't want to bust out the canned tomatoes and take care of business themselves. Otherwise there's no excuse not to head to an actual Italian place, or even a pizzeria that offers pasta. On the bright side, our server was a sweetheart. read more
