I think that your place is quite different than most other places I have gone too, but the very first time I came here, I did not perceive that at all. In fact, just by looking through your peoples door made me feel like I was going to walk straight into a bar and there might be punks lurking about that might try to beat me up should I dare enter your place, that and people drinking beer and using drugs; you know "a bar" where my safety was as risk, so I got in my car and got as far as I could from your place and went home to cry. Came here on a Tuesday night with a few friends because they have a dope discount, $5 for unlimited games! They have a really good selection of games and they rotate, so I can't wait to check it out again! The food and drinks are pretty good and the prices are fair. The Totchos were SO GOOD. The knitting group I am a part of loves getting together here for a night of knitting, good bites, great beer and a fun atmosphere. Obviously, this is not the season for the outdoor seating, but in the spring, summer and fall, the outdoor area is a lovely place to sit, relax and have a great conversation. I like that you can order individual sliders and they are reasonably priced. You have to put your name in and collect your food when they call you, but for a video game hangout spot, it is far less annoying then having a waiter/waitress bumping through the place trying to take orders, deliver drinks and bus tables. They have a nice selection of beer options. The place has alot of video games against the walls. Some of them are old favorites. The bathrooms were clean, thankfully and although the place is small, the novelty of the place is enough for me to keep going back. read more

First off, to all the people bringing their kids and then complaining: THIS IS A BAR, NOT A FAMILY RESTAURANT. ---------------------------------------------- This isn't a bad place. Like Kristen B. said, there's nothing to compare it to because it's unique! Bar tenders were polite and quick. The lemonades were great, but the drink menu on the table does NOT include alcohol in them (it fails to say this). Only giving 3 stars because I thought the place was going to be a LOT bigger. It was so tiny and overcrowded. It needed to be twice the size. The seats were also really uncomfortable, even if they do look cool. The music was too loud. It shook the machines and made some of them impossible to hear. As R. L. said, food items are novelties and not meant to be a meal. Everything is a little overpriced, and you can't hear the person calling out your name so your food just sits there until you see it and assume it's yours. Also, some people would sit in front of a game with friends, basically blocking off 3 games in a row until they ultimately left the building. On the plus side, there's a coin machine so you don't have to bother the bar tenders for change. I was really annoyed that people brought their children, since it's a BAR. Parenting 101- Do not bring your kids to a bar. Get a sitter or go to an actual restaurant. Don't expect other people around you to watch their language or not be bothered by your children literally running into them while you have your date night. And don't sit down expecting to be waited on. Because it's a bar. Not a restaurant. Do I need to say it again? I'm obviously a critic, but this place is a great idea. Now I will say that the idea of this place is awesome! Quarters is a great concept that was executed well. Now the place is small and if you show up on a weekend night expect to wait outside like a New York night club. But once you get inside it is something that make you feel like your childhood. (Depending how you are) From the He-Man figures on the wall to the old Tiger electronics hand helds on a shelf. Quarters has a good selection of beer and liquor. If you expect to get a Sam Adams then you have come to the wrong place. This place seems to have a lot of local beer and semi top shelf liquor. If you think you are going here to get a full meal you are wrong again. They serve bar food like mini hot dogs and corn dogs. I was told by the bartender that the dogs are made local. So that is a big plus. They could have a better selection of food. they could start to serve nachos and wings. That would be epic! Now on to the games. They have a lot of classics. Space invaders, Ms pac man, 1943, crystal castles, and now burger time...just to name a few. The mix of games seems just OK...they are limited on space but I think they should get rid of some of the games. Like Tetris and smash TV and make room for Class A games like street fighter 2, mortal kombat 2, gauntlet and spy hunter just to name a few. Some of the game controls need to fixed. Small things like cherry switches should be replaced. Pinball machines leveled and calibrated. I know they just opened and I am sure they will be getting some better games as they grow and move forward. In conclusion. . . . Go to this place now. Bring your friends. Let me preface this review by saying I really, really want to like this place and will try to go again in the next month or so adjusting the rating accordingly at that time of course. Also, my review/rating is based on the first impressions my girlfriend and I had, the games themselves, atmosphere and staff that was there (or lack thereof) on what was obviously a busy afternoon. I hate bashing small business on here but I'm hoping it will help them improve and grow to succeed. I'd be ecstatic to frequent any place that totally kicks ass and cares! First off I wish this place was 21+ only (or at least midweek all day all night) and staffed/run better....walked in and walked out a few weeks ago. What a shame. School vacation days (only) I could maybe understand but catering to children and families until 9PM (or whatever I was told it is) will not make this spot unique and/or special. They Gouponed the shit out of it right away and dropped their drawers unfortunately; seem desperate which sucks. I know it's tough but not being leveraged with enough cash flow to build a business up properly leads to this....ugh I give them credit for trying though - great concept and all.....but.... You MUST properly maintain the games. This includes cleaning them WELL and having the correct (or best you can) knobs/controls and such. This is the draw guys! Be able to fix the machines and don't advertise pinball if all you have is 1 out of service machine for weeks or more. You pull the machine off the floor and substitute it. Looks bad when such a small place has machines that are just down with an inch of dust on them. Making the machines shine is the key. Move them around from time to time to adjust traffic flow. It's a cramped place so figure it out and don't fall into mediocrity. Ideas: Make it .50 per game and save your machines some wear and tear and grab a potentially different type of client as a result. Figure it out! Run a business model that's special and not like being in the mall with snot nosed children littering up the place for the guests who actually drink and are willing to spend. Bigger, longer vision is lacking from my brief experience. I so want to love it and was so excited to visit and spend hours living my youth again but....Damn you Quarters. I went to college in Amherst---a long, long time ago now. I never thought I'd see the scattered barns and warehouses near Route 9, connecting Amherst to Northampton, begin to transition into new spaces, such as this one, an ultra-cool, yet relaxed and unpretentious gathering place offering a truly unique blend of understated nostalgia meets 21st Century Family Nightlife. The 1980's, in all of its "newness" is here, but with a twist that now brings out a certain innocence. A GREAT concept that is also organized and executed well. Run by a fine group of folks, some of whom I got to chat with last summer when passing through town. We had a great, late evening there, with our 10 year old son; they couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating to him too! Go here. You'll like it. A lot. And you'll remember it long after you leave. My boys had attended a Birthday party there, on a Sat. morning, and loved it. So I thought I would take them and see if it was as good as it looks on paper. I have gone twice now and had almost identical experiences. The (same) bartender was chatting with the only other 1-2 customers and pretty much ignored me. She was cute and the dudes at the bar looked like it would take a tornado to move them off their bar stool. The games need to be wiped down more often. The few food items I tried were fine. The beer was great, but being served in a mason jar made it difficult to drink without dribbling and there were only five or so selections. The games range from old classics to just old. I finally made it to The Quarters and had a lot of fun. The pros: Games are only a quarter each, and you can often get all-you-can-play deals on Groupon. The food is fun and tasty. And there are great old-school games to play. The cons: The place is tiny and sometimes feels really crowded. I also wish there were more adult-only hours, as it can be a pain to shuffle around the kids (there, I said it). I was also really bummed that the games I went to play were out of service when I went. The middle: The drinks were good, but kind of small. This is a good environment. Only thing I would complain about is the falafel. I wouldn't say that it wasn't authentic (which it wasn't) but some things were just odd such as no hummus? I was really excited when Quarters first opened but to me it's lost its pizzazz. I was hoping the menu would change more than it does- overpriced fried foods sometimes soggy. This place is great for what it is. I am not a big arcade gamer or anything like that, but very cool unique bar. It has classic arcade games lined along the walls. A bar, a decent amount of seating. I ordered the sweet potato fries which were amazing. There is nothing club about this place, no hip hop dance music or top 40, unless they do a crazy makeover at night that I am not aware of. We came with the kids during Spring break week. We expected it to be crowded, it was, but not too bad. The food was fine. We had fries, hot dogs, sliders, chicken tenders and grilled cheese. The atmosphere was fine. There were 21 games to be exact. Our 9 yo loved it, our 3 yo did too. The spouse wasn't impressed with so many of the games having issues with working properly, effectively. The Gauntlet game only had two slots working..and it wasn't loud enough to her "Elf is about to die". I think we had a very high expectation, as I believe we bought into the hype. Fun place to change up the usual night out or meet up with a few friends. The food is reasonable and everything was pretty good. I wish I gave the fried a try but I had a need for frid pickles for several days. The pickles were wedges friend in a light batter and came with a nice spicy mayo for dipping. The kimchi dog was good and now thinking back would've had another instead of the mac n cheese dog as the mac just falls off it anyways and didn't really mesh well with a hot dog. They also had chicken tenders on special and those were devoured quickly with a honey mustard dipping sauce. The beers are all MA craft brews except for PBR (brewmaster jack, jack abbey and a few others) all priced at $6 or $5 and all are good quality beers that are quickly becoming staples in the area. I'm a big fan of pinball and of course the one night I'm there the machines are off... I can see if it gets crowded it would be tight "quarters" with the tables and games but it was a quiet and easy to move around on a holiday weekend sunday. Great food, with a menu always being updated with unique specials. The drinks are top notch, as are the bartenders who make them. Friendly atmosphere, kind of a weird mix of clientele- you will find kid's birthday parties, groups of software developers, college professors, the occasional farmhand from up the road and, of course, students. Kind of a rare thing to find all of these demos under one roof in the valley. Drinks are a little pricey but they have a great craft beer selection, mixed drinks made from scratch- if your wallets on a diet they always have PBR on tap, and frankly drinks aren't the only thing that will get you in the door. Arcade games from wall to wall are in constant rotation each month, they hold different events for everything from trivia nights, to Mortal Kombat competitions, to Bob's Burgers nights. You can tell the owner's have put a lot of work into the place, and most days you will find at least one of them down at the end of the bar working on the events and specials for the next week.
