You'll see them around on Friday night having dinner. Now, Friday night is prime rib. Where can go for inexpensive drinks, cool local feel and a great prime rib dinner that costs $12?! It comes with roll, baked potato and salad. Try the burgers, potato skins, fish & chips. Do understand, it's a bar... only one food server on Friday nights, and you get your own drinks from the fabulous bar staff. They also started up again daily lunch specials and Thursday night dinner. Yesterday, with blinders on, I would not be sidetracked. The CB was excellent. Perfectly cooked w a nice charbroiled taste. The bun held up it's part of the bargain. It was lightly grilled and didn't fall apart (this is very important). Sauteed onions rounded out the experience. The burger was in my top 12 all time, and I've tried them in hundreds of places around the country. Fries ok, nothing special, but at least hot. Prices very reasonable, barmaid Cathy a fixture (and personable and efficient). Lots of friendly locals. Anyway, so many great choices on the menu, and daily specials. But the longer you look, the more un-divey it becomes. The bartenders are friendly, part of the community, and attentive. The bar itself is clearly well kept. There's no sticky mess on the bar or the floors, there are no handprints on the mirrors, and there's no overlooked trash anywhere. Like, this place is well cared for. There are tons of seating around the u-shaped bar and throughout the second side of this location. Oh, and yes, there are pool tables which add to the fun of this. There are booth seating and along the wall seating. There are high top tables and barstools. A place for everyone. This bar is a fucking gem. With house-mixed drinks that cost $5 and freshly squeezed juice alcoholic drinks at $6, you can't beat the prices. And with such good and friendly bartenders, solid music game, and nice seating/clean spaces, it's hard to top. Even the patrons are friendly AF. The meal I received (Eggs Benedict Florentine, a regular menu item) was not what I ordered (Tara's Benedict, on the specials menu), but by then I was so hungry that I just ate it. It was good. However, after a runner delivered our food, our waitress never checked in with us, or even made eye contact with us, until we were done eating. When she finally came, I told her (politely) that I had ordered Tara's Benedict but had received Florentine. She seemed to not know what to do with this information - but she did want me to know that she correctly submitted my order. Okay, I said, I just wanted to let you know that there was a miscommunication somewhere. She brought us our bill promptly (the incorrect meal was not taken off the bill), but then there was more waiting for her to come back and take our credit card. Finally my dining companion went up to the register to pay the bill. While there, they tried to explain to him what happened - apparently the chef had a different specials list than the specials menu that was given to customers. This does not really explain the mix-up. Plus, it was 11am on a Saturday - near the end of the breakfast period. How did they not realize sooner that the chef and the wait staff had different specials menus? This establishment is a little off the beaten path; you have to make it a destination - something I will not be doing again.
