Yesterday, with blinders on, I would not be sidetracked. The CB was excellent. Perfectly cooked w a nice charbroiled taste. The bun held up it's part of the bargain. It was lightly grilled and didn't fall apart (this is very important). Sauteed onions rounded out the experience. The burger was in my top 12 all time, and I've tried them in hundreds of places around the country. Fries ok, nothing special, but at least hot. Prices very reasonable, barmaid Cathy a fixture (and personable and efficient). Lots of friendly locals. Anyway, so many great choices on the menu, and daily specials. Wish it was closer. 5 charbroiled stars

We sat at the bar and service was slow from drinks to utensils, unfortunately. I got the blueberry and cranberry martini which was way too strong for me and I'd probably stick to non-alcoholic drink next time. The Cajun ranch burger didn't give cajun at all but the texture was good. I added bacon but it seemed pretty low quality so if anything skip the extra charge. I did like the giant stuffed tots though! The texture and flavor was pretty good. I'd probably go back since it's close to what I know in Springfield, but it's not really a fav spot of mine.

Despite the mixed reviews, we chose to eat here due to the proximity of Packards to The Academy of Music Theatre where we saw a comedy show. We were sat quickly. Our server was on top of everything (we put in quite a few rounds of food and drinks). The food came out quickly and was super fresh. I can't confirm but I believe they might cut and bread everything themselves (or at least that's how it tasted!). We got the hot dog w/ kraut, fries, BLTAC, onion rings, chicken strips, burger and one of the specials. I think parts of the food and drink specials were a little 'try-hard' --- meaning a bit fancier than needed for this type of place. But they are probably trying to keep in line with the all the craft places in the area. Regardless, everything was delicious and reasonably priced. The place was unexpectedly big -- classic bar set up in the front (gave me Cheers vibes) in front w/ dining area in the rear and unique 'outdoor' area. The decor is a collection of old signage from other bars and restaurants. Super cool. We will be back if we are ever in the area again! Thanks Packards!

The front area is more of a dive bar feel, the back room more of a restaurant feel, with a sweet little courtyard adding to the diversity of space. Upstaris there are pool tables, both rented hourly as well as coin operated. I was disappointed that the cider was no longer on tap, but C'est La Vie. The cocktails were refreshing, and man, let me tell you... the steak skewers... YUM. I had zero expectation of what my tastebuds were going to feel, once the bartender put a bottle of A-1 on the bar. That's NEVER a good sign. Why anyone would sully these little morsels of deliciousness with A-1 is beyond me. They were freaking awesome.

They've got a HUGE variety of local draft craft beers, which is truly awesome! The prices are great- really can't be beat, around $4 for local drafts. Great personality and she always remembers me (now I feel bad). But honestly the best part?? Peppas is attached. Whiskey, beer, and pizza? YES. Yes, it was a buttock-cringing moment as I walked into the place....... ..... and then...... I noticed the very easy-on-the-eyes brunette bartender.... she was a dead-ringer for Lara Flynn Boyle, but much hotter. The crowd was a pleasant, Cheers-esque group of regulars that laughed and drank the day away. It could have been a pub in any-city USA. The great part? Among the beers on tap were the only 2 types I drink: guiness and weiss beers.... LOTS of them. AND..... the bartender was actually nice. She was totally cool. None of the yes-I-know-I-am-hot attitude you find in big-city bitches. The food was awesome too. I had a buffalo-wing salad, while my gimpy pal-recovering-from-gout had a reuben sandwhich. We were surprised to discover that the place does not serve any processed foods, and everything, despite the pub-grub stigma, was pretty damn good quality food. 2 beers, 2 large entrees set us back about $17-ish, which I thought was a miscalculation because I pretty much pay double that in the city..... and did I mention the cute bartender with no attitude? Maybe not a diamond, but perhaps a sapphire or ruby in the rough. And yes, I'll be back.
