I was literally screwed over by another printer in LA. I needed 39 coveralls embroidered with our logo for a Christmas party. The day before the party the other printer told me they couldn't do it in time despite having the materials for 1 month!! I called around and stumbled upon Printworks in Altadena. I explained the situation and they came to the rescue. I met them at their office and went over the project and they embroidered samples with me present to make sure it was fine. We have used Printworx for our family business printing needs for years now. They have helped us with everything from marketing brochures, to gift certificates, to party favor labels! Recently, the non-profit I work for wanted to get canvas bags screen printed for all 100 of the teachers who work for the agency as a thank you for all of their hard work suppoting some of the most at-risk families in LA during this trying pandemic school year. When they couldn't find anyone else (Including huge online printing companies) to meet the tight turnaround time, I reached out to Printworx. Irene and her family not only had them done by the deadline, but they were incredibly flexible and kind to meet me after their normal operating hours, and work around my insane work schedule so I could drop off the bags to them ASAP. Irene did an amazing job reformatting my design and adjusting the colors so that the graphic would pop and look amazing. When it came time to pick the bags up, Irene met me at a Starbucks -after work hours- so I didn't have drive as far for the pick up. I arrived and she was so kind to load the bags into my trunk, then treated me to a coffee! As someone who also runs a family business, I can tell you that the time, energy, and dedication it takes to keep a small business going these days is tremendous. Local gem, run by the wonderful Manning family. Talk about service! I have had things printed here on several different occasions and not once have I been disappointed. Most recently I had 13 album covers printed for my brother. I simply gave them a cd with the images on it and asked that they be printed a nice matte paper, sized the same as a record cover. I got exactly what I asked for and more. One of the prints didn't come out perfect so they kindly reprinted it and let me have both copies. I was very happy with these prints, as was my brother. What can I say about this printer but awesome...truly awesome. I recently moved out of the Pasadena area to Orange County and refuse to give up my printer. M & M has printed my company's letterhead and business card and designed our company shirts for several years now. The owner and his daughters are friendly and professional and I can't think of any other company who is willing to drive all the way to Orange County just to deliver my order in person, but that is what Irene did, and my orders are always done in a timely manner! As for changing their name, when growing your business, why not?! I had their graphic artist, Brigid, redesign our logo and it is awesome. My experience with this business was very irritating and a waste of my time. I needed various pieces embroidered last minute so I called up and sent over the artwork. I was told the artwork was too complex for embroidering so I ended up resubmitting a simple design. I was told I could bring the pieces in on Sat morning to go over the details of thread color and size. I called Sat morning to let them know I still planned on coming out. After a 20 min drive and about 1 hour after I had called I arrived at the shop. It looked like one of the guys was leaving for lunch so I told him I had called and was there to drop off the items. He told me his brother was the one who handles the embroidery and wouldn't be returning for 3 days. Why wasn't this important info relayed when I called that morning? read more

I cannot say enough about M+M/Printworks. I needed to do some printing projects for two local schools, so budget was huge, and the Mannings gave me an estimate that was almost HALF of the next lowest estimate. Their service was above board, done with a smile and same day! So when a new semester came around, and I had to do two, much larger print jobs, I went to them first and was amazed at how affordable the estimates were. The completion was next morning, and they printed off a proof of each book so I could see it on the page and make edits before the final print. Even the proofs turned out beautifully! I'm no expert on design, so when I created the booklets, I was unsure of photo size, final layout and compression...but everything turned out just as I saw it on screen. Actually better. But the service and the friendly conversation and accommodation throughout sealed the deal. I wouldn't even conceive of going somewhere else, especially some larger, unnamable and impersonal chains that charge twice as much and take three times longer! I am so happy with this place that I opened a Yelp account to leave a review. I recently became a vendor at the Altadena Farmers Market and needed a banner for my booth. I was referred to The Printworks by the market coordinator and decided to go with her recommendation since I had no idea where else to look. I am so glad I took her advice. I contacted The Printworks by email and the entire process not only went smoothly, but Irene at the Printworks was fantastic to work with. She was so helpful in answering my questions, she replied to my emails in a timely fashion, and her kindness came through in every message. In a time when service can often feel rushed and impersonal, I was really impressed to encounter someone who so clearly cares about providing a high level of service. Not only that, but the finished product was even better that I expected. When I went to the store to pick up my banner I was greeted by Irene. She had my banner ready and offered to help me unroll it to take a look. It looked so good! The color accuracy and printing resolution were even better than I had envisioned. The shop was really cute too. It is located in a small, nicely restored old building. Upon entering you can immediately see that they have invested a lot in their equipment and on making the shop look great. It's a tiny and charming old building, but inside it's bright, contemporary, and uncluttered. I could go on, but I think I've covered the main points. I highly recommend this company. read more
