I was under the impression that I had bought a purebred pomeranian, because it was listed as such. As he grew up, it was very clear that he is a mixed! I love him very much, but they weren't honest and he was a lot more expensive compared to the mixed puppies they have. My fiancé and I bought a husky from here 4days ago little did we know he was infected with parvo when we bought him. We have a written statement from our vet stating that parvo lasts for a week before showing signs, we brought this up to the owners and they couldn't care less they gave us a refund on the pup but had nothing to say other wise. Today our baby passed away and the only thing we heard from them was sorry for ur loss if u brought him here to the puppy place he would b alive still. That is very inaccurate bc our husky was hooked up to many Iv's a breathing machine and had to end up having a plasma transfusion. What they wanted to do at the puppy place was cure him with Gatorade and goats milk, I'm not sure how that would work if the care the vets were giving him failed to succeed. A few months later we got a call that they had some doxies. We adopted a beautiful, energetic, fun loving female miniature dachshund from the Puppy Place and we couldn't be happier. She came with one free wellness check and her first shots. At her wellness check she had a clean bill of health. She has been a very happy and welcome addition to our family and gets along famously with our 6 year old mini dachshund. Our puppy is now 11 weeks old and a so much fun to be around. I purchased the German Shepard in July 2018. Within 2 days of coming home he had full blown Parvo. He survived, but the parvo spread to my tiny Chihuahua puppy who didn't make it. While The Puppy Place did cover the vet bills (because I did the much cheaper home care option) they did nothing to compensate me for my dog that passed away. The Puppy Place does now know where their puppies are coming from; they will take puppies from any dirty backyard puppy mill. They may find that if they get puppies from reputable breeders, their rates of parvo may go down...just a hunch. read more

I have such mixed feelings about this place, having purchased two wonderful animals here over the past several years. I would rate The Puppy Place closer to 2.5 stars, but can't bring myself to round up to 3. On the one hand, The Puppy Place brings in some really adorable puppies. I believe they are honest with their customers about the breeds that they are selling (i.e. not trying to pass off mixed breeds as purebred). The puppies are inexpensive, especially when you consider what most purebred pups sell for these days (though these won't have "papers," so if that's important to you then you'll want to look elsewhere). They do give your puppy a free vet visit (though this is at one of their approved veterinarians) and if there is a problem with the animal's health, you can return it and get store credit for a different puppy (no refunds though). The puppies are grouped in fairly large (compared to pet store cages) open pens mainly by breed and/or litter, and you can walk around and interact with them quite a bit before committing to purchasing. The environment allows customers to get a feel for what the animal's personality is going to be like once they bring it home. The health and care of the animals is what I find questionable. We had purchased a puppy here years ago, only to find out shortly after that it had Parvo. He survived, after several days at the pet hospital (you don't want to know what that bill came out to), but he was left with a weakened heart afterwards. It was within the time frame of when he could have been returned, but by that time everyone was attached to him - how do you just give a pet back, especially knowing that by doing so, its fate is undoubtedly euthanasia? Needless to say, we kept him. Fast forward years later, and we decided we were ready to get another puppy. I stopped by here on a whim, curious to see if anything had changed in the last decade. As I walked around looking at the pens of adorable, rambunctious puppies, one in particular caught my eye. He looked so sweet, but was weak, lethargic and bone thin - the other puppies trampled him as they played, and he lacked the strength to protest. Against all logic, I purchased him, and took him to one of their approved vets the next day. She was taken aback by how sick and emaciated he was, and when she inquired as to where I had purchased him, she fell silent. She ran some tests - it turned out that our pup had two different parasites. Keep in mind, The Puppy Place will tell you that they have a vet that comes in 1-2 times a week to do health checks and give the puppies their shots, so why this wasn't caught is beyond me - and from her reaction, I'm guessing it was beyond this vet as well. She never spoke an ill word about The Puppy Place, and I wonder if that is due to the health check contract her practice has in place with them. I know others who have told stories similar to mine, which is why I'm certain my two experiences aren't isolated ones. Ours actually has a happy ending: After months of medication and prescription dog food (and changing vets as well) our sickly little puppy has grown into a gorgeous, vigorous, happy dog. Again, we could have traded him in for a "healthy" animal, but once I had him home, returning him was not an option. He is absolutely terrific, and if I hadn't stopped by The Puppy Place, we wouldn't have him. For that reason, I hate to discourage people from purchasing from a puppy from them. Just be prepared - your purchase may turn out to be an unanticipated rescue mission. read more

I spent $600 to get the puppy of my dreams a week later she is diagnosed with three deadly diseases. I've spent over $400 to keep my baby alive and will keep using every available funds in order to see her one day be the lively puppy I purchased the day I went there. Stopped in this establishment yesterday with some time to kill and a mission to pet some puppies. Walking in the door, the smell was overwhelming but it seemed about as sanitary as could be...considering. The dude at the door took an ID and we were instructed that we could pet as many puppies as we would like, but that we could only pick up/hold puppies from one pen only. In between every dog you pet, you're supposed to use the provided hand-sanitizing stations. He explained that the reason we could only choose one pen to actually pick up/play with puppies is because there is no way to sanitize our clothing between pens. I would say about 2/3 of the pens were full and had two to three dogs per pen. Some dogs were pure bred and some were mixed -- all were adorable! The prices are VERY reasonable and there are signs saying that they buy from local breeders...hopefully this is true. I came around the store to see THE most adorable rotti/heeler/chow mix. I aleady have a German Shorthaired Pointer and a Vizsla or I would've scooped this little guy up in a heartbeat. Although none of those three breeds are terribly appealing to me, this puppy was so chill, sweet and cute. Someone go buy him! On the way out, the guy at the door was involved in some heated discussion with his buds about the act of going "AWOL" and acted like he couldn't be bothered to give the ID back, nor did he acknowledge our exit. Slightly irritating. Although slightly depressing, The Puppy Place is a good spot to check out (and hopefully take home) a sweet little puppers. read more

I've always been impressed by this place. Like a previous reviewer said, the puppies are allowed to play in big open air pens in the middle of the store and you can pick up and cuddle as many as you like as long as you sanitize your hands between pens. Overall the prices are fair, and the puppies are treated far better than in most "big box" pet stores which put them in little plexiglass boxes. Go check this place out, if even to pet a few dozen puppies. read more

RULES ARE NOT ENFORCED! We stopped in here after pigging out on awesome Q at Holy Smokin' Butts. Puppies were all adorable, of course! This place has a list of Rules posted on the wall, including a 16-year age requirement to hold a puppy. There was ONE person working the register while we were there. I didn't see any other staff. That meant that NOBODY was checking to ensure that the Rules were being followed. While walking past the cages, ahead of us was a Mexican family. The woman/mother reached down and picked up a Chihuahua puppy improperly, without supporting its body. She then passed the puppy to her small young daughter (5?), who of course DID NOT hold the dog properly. There is a CORRECT way to HOLD A PUPPY of ANY BREED. First, the owner of staff and the managers are all really great. Unfortunately, I cannot give 5 stars. We bought a husky and he is just adorable we paid approximately 600 dollars. This included a 300 medical warranty and a refundable 25 fee after spaying or neutering is done within 6 months. Your required to do medical check for free within a week. When we bought him the manager said she found 4 ticks on him and gave him flea and tick bath the day before. Well, when he got home we decided to check him he had 60 ticks. The next few days he felt yucky not being able to hold food down. Well, we took him for his wellness check and rabies and they said he looked good over the next few days he didn't do better so today we took him and had medical work done and we found out he is pretty sick and they believe it stemmed from the ticks. He has a lot of future medical work that has to be done. When I contacted puppy place they definitely did the right thing. They gave me not only for $300 medical insurance and they refunded the total cost of our puppy and allowed us to keep him. Yes, it's going to cost us more. However, I think for a small business to nearly give $900 back. It's difficult they could have easily just offered the 300 or to bring him back for a refund. I want to say I was able to meet the owner when I purchased the husky she was polite and very helpful. She even gave a small discount. The manager didn't make excuses which was nice. When I was in tonight all of the puppies looked really healthy and they have to know Huskies which look great and I took the liberty of just checking to see if they had ticks and they were clear. This has more to do with the owner who brought him in from there home. They only had him for two days. That is why I am giving them a good rating on Yelp. The business not only lost the money they paid to buy our baby and then the cost we paid and on top of that the $300. read more

This is a very late review of this place of horror for dogs but I felt like people should know that they do sell SICK dogs!!!! I bought him Feb 2015, poor baby had to be taken to the vet within a week of purchasing him. He was diagnosed with PARVO!!! They claim the dogs are put thru a vet check before they are sold...which is total BS!! The woman told me they just got them in that day and to hurry in before they sold quick (we were on a waiting list). After we picked him out, a guy said oh wait I still need to give him his 1st set of shots....being a 1st time puppy owner I didnt think it was a big deal. But now I've learned a hard life lesson....NEVER BUY FROM THE PUPPY PLACE! I do give them some credit in the way that they did split the $2400 vet bill to save my baby's life, but only after numerous phone calls and threating to get kgun9 on your side involved. Thats the only reason they get a 1 star.....you're way better off getting a dog or puppy from craigslist where the owner/breeder gives you a complete shot record! read more

Purchased a puppy from here about a year ago, was told that it was a poodle but ended up being a terrier mix. The dog was inbred according to the veterinarian and had a laundry list of health issues including blind in one eye, testicles didn't descend, and serious allergies. When I went back one day to talk to them witnessed a woman come in literally off the street with a laundry basket full of puppies and told the employee that her dog had the puppies and she didn't know what to do with them. The employee took them from her and told her that they would sell them and took them from the woman and then placed them into a pen for sale - no questions asked! Seems like the will take any puppies to sell without asking questions and knowing their history. Given my experience here and some that I have heard from others wouldn't trust a purchase from here. read more

Very unsanitary. They make you leave a license at the front and they only allow you to touch 1 puppy at a time until you walk back to the front and wash your hands. It smells really bad. They spray down the dogs cages with a power hose that comes in contact with pee and poo and the water flies everywhere and they directly sprayed my mother. Not to mention the puppies are horrified and scared. The dogs are overpriced. The day I purchased a puppy there was a weirdo who attended to us and pratically had like a million muscle spasms where he even removed his shirt and stood still with his arm behind his back over his head for 20 minutes. They act like the puppy is gold asking a million questions even though they spray them down. Haven't gone since. read more

I have gotten 2 puppies from the puppy place and I have not had any issues . I have a mini poodle and shish tzu poodle mix . My in laws have 2 dogs from there as well that they got 10and 8years ago . I've been in the store when people are dropping of there puppies . When I got my first baby from there they even made me wait till they got the puppies settled in . I'm all for saving animals . But people have a choice on where they choose to get their pets from . some of the rescues wouldn't consider my husband and I for a puppy because we work 12hr shifts . they wanted to give me a n older dog because they said puppies need a lot of care, who are they to tell me just because we work 12hr shifts only 3 days a week with 4 days OFF that I can't take care of a puppy . Also when people talk about getting a sick dog from places , you can get a animal that develops an illness with time from a pet shop, animal rescue , or where ever!!! All I wanted was a puppy that could grow with my family . Whats important is that animals find a forever home which is what my babies are getting. read more

Don't believe all the bad reviews! I got my puppy, Romeo, at Puppy Place a few months ago. He is happy, healthy, and growing like a weed. He was a mixed breed puppy...Aussie and Rottie, and likely some terrier in there somewhere. He has been to the vet twice so far and no problems, just immunizations. He's grown more than double his weight and has tons of energy. The owners buy local puppy litters and sometimes get pure-breds. The facility looks sort of like the animal shelter but nicer. It definitively does not look like a pet store, it is more industrial. However, that is OK with me. My puppy is going great! He grows faster than I can keep up with him! read more

Just got our amazing Chocolate Lab at the puppy place! The lady at the front desk was helpful and very kind. We felt like got a good deal on our Lab. Overall the prices where all reasonable. Although you get paper work with your pup you don't get "papers" ie no kennel club. But not a big deal since we aren't going to be breeding her. read more

This is one of the more welcoming puppy stores in town, I've always had a pleasant experience with this store. I'm pretty sure 95% of people that come in this store want to kill time, haha. Anyway, the cages are fairly clean and the puppies are definitely in good care. The return policy mentioned by reviewer Cyrus is true though, they will only return store credit after 7 days or something like that, so be cautious when buying a puppy there. We got a cocker at the humane society that was purchased from The Puppy place.The owner must have lived down in sierra vista. They brought her to the humane society saying their child was allergic. I would not buy a dog from them. The dog was sick. Also the traits of this dog is not always nicest. So I wouldn't want another dog from the parents of this dog. We got our little baby, Milo, at the Puppy Place and we could not be happier with the entire experience!!! We were looking for a spunky toy poodle puppy from a local area breeder for a reasonable price and THIS PLACE was the find of the century for my family. The staff knew the personalities of the puppies very well, and were able to recommend one of the bunch they described as a [1.5lbs at the time] 'little terrorist'--which was what we were looking for. Our dog has been 100% healthy and happy, playful, hypoallergenic, smart, loving and sweet, TRAINABLE.....and they gave us a bag of dog food and the first vet visit for free! I check back on their Facebook page regularly thinking that maybe we will get another one and hopefully from the same local family so Milo can have a 'little brother' at home with him! My husband and I had gotten into the habit of stopping by The Puppy Place occasionally to see what was available because the place was always clean and the pups appeared well cared for. Already having two fur babies, we were not really looking to buy a pup. Then our 16 year old Jack Russell died on March 1st, leaving not only my husband and I in pain, but my 8 year old Pug deeply depressed. That's when I noticed The Puppy Place had baby Pugs for sell. We went in to purchase a female, but ended up putting a deposit on the male because he had so much personality. Everyone at The Puppy Place was friendly and helpful and didn't mind our frequent visits during the week. The price included a free vet visit and we ended up finding a vet and vet clinic that we truly love. Thankfully, our new pup is very healthy with no medical issues. No one can totally guarantee that a pup won't get parvo or parasites, especially this time of year. There is a spray/neuter credit back to us if we have him neutered before he is six months old. And we were very happy with the reasonable price for our new baby Pug. I paid less for this pup than I paid a breeder in Phoenix for my first Pug 8 years ago. read more

HORRIBLE!! Not as advertised this place is no problem selling you something without being willing to back up what they're selling is accurate. We bought a dog supposedly a Lhasa Apso however it is a prop so. If you don't identify any problems within 7 days they they really don't want to work with you in anyway. The only thing I will do is give you a credit back to the store not worth it in my opinion. Not willing to backup the breed but willing to sell them to you at a breeder price. If you gotta pay this much for an animal go directly to a breeder and get what you pay for not a place that just manufactures puppies. After 6 months we found out my daughter was allergic to the dog as it wasn't what they said it was. After asking in a polite way to refund us 250 dollars of the 550 that we spent there their response was sorry it's been too long. Stay away and do not even consider buying from them.
