This is intimidating to the dogs coming in, especially if they have had traumatic pasts. This is very hypocritical and I don't see the point of the sign when they don't do it with their own dogs. What he told My dog had a pretty good trim, except around the mouth. Later in the day, when I had time to examine him more, I found a tick deeply embedded in his snout, and I was unable to remove it with tweezers. I enjoy washing my dog at home, but the clean up is the pain. Putting a bath, holding your dog in place, water splashing everywhere, trying not to use your best towels, and finding a blow dryer. Well guess what this place takes care of all that. They have: 1. A tub waiting with a stay in place collar to hook up inside tub. 2. Adjustable water temperature 3. A stack of towels 4. First impressions--NOT good. As soon as we got there (you're met with a doggy flap-which is fine because dogs do escape!) but the front is so small & cluttered I felt like I was in an episode of hoarders-not major extreme hoarders just VERY cluttered, the displays had a lot of dust collected on them and there were random cages everywhere. Next they just rattle off the list of services, which you can't really hear because the commotion and dogs barking. as soon as we filled out the drop off form they attempted to take our 1 1/2 year old skittish girl husky off to a CAGE. My wife had to do it because Ra'Ra won't go with just anyone who tries to pull her--she bucks like a horse. So my wife takes her back a few feet to an awaiting cage. I do not like how after we hand off the dogs they are immediately taken to a cage so minus 1 star there. Minus another start-Her appt was at 2, I called at 3 because the drop off left a bad taste in my mouth and I need to be certain Ra'Ra wasn't still sitting in a cage an hour later. I'm told they were behind so she was just getting to her bath...again, ONE.....HOUR later. We get a call one hour & 43 minutes later saying she will be ready for pick up but then she says within 10 minutes she will be ready. We wait 10 minutes, go get her, I'm told she's getting a brush down and will be ready soon....also that they couldn't do the sanitary trim but we could come back tomorrow. Well in my mind, had you started her bath at appt time and not an hour later then you could have done the trim/services we needed. But their lack of time management (they close at 5) is what caused us to miss out on a service we needed and no I'm not bringing my dog back to be put back in a cage until you could get to her. Anyways, 7 minutes later I'm told to wait n the car and they will bring her out (obviously she wasn't ready by the 10 or 15 minute mark. So I told them to get me when's she ready because Ra'Ra won't let anyone take her out of an area (yes we have a special, special dog). 35 minutes later I'm flagged down to get her & my sweet girl is happy to see her mama! I'm told "there she is" but why Did I have to ask for her harness and leash?? and my baby's head was still Wet. We Get her into the truck and after some time all we smell is wet dog. Grooossss I need to mention this also- as I was filling out paperwork, my wife was waiting with me and she saw a staff carelessly pull a small doggo out their cage, carelessly put them in the bath and heard that same staff say "this f--r is biting me!" And another staff says "yea he's a biter"....I know, I know..."why did we leave our dog?" Well, I like to give People the benefit of a doubt, innocent until proven guilty--by that I mean I wish you would do & say some crazy stuff like that in front of me TO or about my dog and it would have been on & poppin. Trust. Also before they give you your dog, you're asked to pay (which is fine) but don't ask me if I want to tip before I've been laid eyes on her! How do I even know if it was tip worthy!? Listen, I'm so thankful my dog isn't traumatized by the lack of dog training (like who doesn't greet my dog and talk to her before you attempt to drag her from her moms??) and I'm thankful her bath was good (she's soft, de tangled & de-shedded) but the whole experience was just YUCK. We won't be back. I don't have a before pic but just know she looks 100% better --I will give them that amount of credit so 3 stars it is. read more

Brought my dog in for a grooming Friday-I picked her up and she's licking the front of her paw-she would not let me look at it-she winced when I tried to see what she was licking- I tried again Saturday and she winced and would not let me see it. Today-Sunday I looked at it even though she winced but it's all inflamed and red and I called to ask the groomer about it-she said if something happened I would have told you- I said well something did happen and you did not tell me-she did not have any issue with her paw Friday morning when I took her to you. Also, her appointment was at 8:00 AM and they said she should be fine by 11:00AM -at 8:45 I get a text that she is ready - the cut was horrible around her head and face and she had red marks from a clipper on her stomach. $78.00 and now I have to take my dog to my Vet. Will not be going back there. Also they say they have a shedding shampoo and 5 weeks ago I bathed my dog in the DYI tub- I used the product they brought to me-,this is a rip-.off -my dog sheds worse than before I used the shampoo -I questioned it and the response was it's summer-dogs are shedding- well- isn't that what the shampoo is supposed to stop or lessen? There are more reputable dog grooming places in this area than Bark Avenue. They mix the product themselves so it probably did not get done properly- I do not recommend this place. read more

Had a really great experience here today! Took my old guy for a bath and found a place that was tidy, welcoming and really well thought out. Each unit is unobtrusively gated and separated by plexi, so you are technically separated, but it feels very warm and communal- great way for my dog who's not crazy about other dogs in his face to still have an experience. Everything you could need is provided and arranged for ease of use. The staff was excellent, very warm and helpful. I was really impressed with the engagement level and think they must be owner/operators- a great opportunity to support people following their passion. 3 hours passed after I dropped off my dog at the scheduled appointment time. I call for an update thinking an adequate amount of time has passed, they say his haircut hasn't started yet. I politely let them know I wasnt happy. To my surprise 15 minutes later they call to inform he is now ready. The groomer says on average it takes 3 hrs to groom a dog but my dog was "easy" and could be done quickly. The lack of attention/time/effort given was clear. I believe it was Lauren's calm, professional demeanor which I'd witnessed before when I'd been in and thought to myself, I am going to request her when I come for this service. The service here was not good. I dropped my dog off for a wash and detangle and had asked to cut out if there was any matted areas. My dog went in fluffy and came out being shaved almost to the skin. It was a lazy job and would not recommend to anyone. He even got nicked under the tail and the area looks red and raw. read more

I've taken my mountain dog here many times and every time has been phenomenal-until today. I received a call that some of the hair was matted. No problem, just like before, cutting behind the ears and the belly and behind are fine! I pick up my dog to see he has been completely shaved except the top of his head and his tail. Long haired dogs have double coats. One protects them from heat & sun. He is now naked and exposed to the heat & sun for the first time in his life, so I'll have to keep a close eye on him. Not okay. I didn't say anything to the girls In shop at the time because I was in such great shock. Not to mention, they asked to pay and if I wanted to add a tip BEFORE I got to see my dog. I am horrified at this experience and will never return. The least of the concern but notable, is that he doesn't even look like my dog. I rescued a puppy that was horribly matted and needed to be clipped down. I went to Bark Ave, which I'd been meaning to try, as its near my house. Two employees were there looking pretty bored. One was slowly mopping, and the other was leaning on the counter with her chin in her hand, staring at nothing. I made my request, and the blonde at the counter said- without lifting her chin from her hand - We don't do grooming without an appointment. Fine, I said, I'll do it myself with your clipper. We don't let people use our clipper. Still with chin in hand. We don't, we don't. What DO you do? Me and the puppy left, and I bought a clipper at Petco. Too bad for them. With 3 dogs of my own and a revolving crew of rescues that need grooming, they lost a LOT of business by being so rude and disinterested. I have many groomers to choose from. It won't be them. This place is amazing! Super clean... And the bathtubs are at the perfect height so that you do not break your back while you're washing your puppy. I did the do it yourself style... bathtubs with shampoo and conditioner... Alcohol to clean the ears with cotton balls... Nice blow dryer with incremental force so your dog doesn't get scared when you start. The staff was extremely helpful finding me the proper brushes for my dogs coats. We took our 5 month old Shih Tzu in for a grooming. She weighs 8 lbs. so she is not a big puppy. Got a call a short time later saying she was upset and we had to come get her. Of course she is upset, We weren't allowed to go in with her, she is a puppy, and this is her first time getting groomed. Since we can't go inside due to COVID restrictions they brought her out to the car when my wife arrived to pick her up. They handed her a sopping wet dog through the car window. They hadn't even tried to dry her off. Additionally they did not return our leash or collar. So I have to make a trip after work to pick them up. I am so disappointed in the service of this location. She can't be the first scared puppy they have had and the way the treated her not even trying to dry her off or comfort her was disgusting. I will never be returning. read more

I had taken my dog in for a bath, nail clip, and anal gland expression. I was pleased with the service at first. Then two days later, my dog had anal gland discharge on the sofa. The day after, it was on my slacks. The day after that, he was still scooting. Today, he was STILL scooting...SIX days later! Either they didn't do the expression at all, or didn't do it correctly. Either way, I was charged for it and my dog is still in discomfort. I'm now forced to take him to a different establishment to have the procedure redone (or maybe just done period?) and I'm pretty upset. I probably won't be back. They informed us we will be charged a $5.00 each fee because our dogs were difficult. They recommended a "CBD" Relaxer which they offer. The total for both was $114.00. I just never heard of this before. They both have been to groomers before with never having any problems. Not even a call alerting us of potential charges for difficulties. Should have noted the red flag when I had to point out to the girl checking us in where the paperwork from PACC shows vaccinations, three times. We scheduled a bath, grooming and de-shedding. A couple hours later, we were contacted that they were ready for pick up. Told both needed to be muzzled and that we would have to take them out of the kennel ourselves. Our dogs have never, ever had to be muzzled by anyone. Paid $100 plus for two dogs that were shedding in the car on the way home.
