Went there for dinner with some friends. Ordered Irish stew. What a joke. Had 2 pieces of raw carrots and 3 pieces of raw potatoes. The meat was exactly 2 pieces and it wasn't lamb. Swimming in tasteless gravy.? My wife ordered Sheppard pie. Meat was cheap ground beef and piled on was tasteless mashed potatoes. Wanted a black and tan beer only had black and red. Tasted bland and flat wife had water. Other couple had fish and chips. Very greasy. Expensive food ;what was left of wife's took home for the dog. There was nothing there that I could say was good. We won't be returning. My sister and her husband had a bar in Chicago believe me there Free food Friday and Saturday was a 1000 better. If I could do a zero I would. Poor communication, long waits, and completely rude service. If this is what first impressions look like, it's clear the people running this place are very new to owning a business, and it shows. The owner kept making excuses instead of offering real solutions. I understand it was St. Patrick's Day, but that's exactly why you should be prepared. If the kitchen can't handle the volume, don't offer the full menu, and be upfront with customers before seating them. A simple warning would have gone a long way. read more

Okay we finally went, it's been open a year and yesterday was your first visit, sorry. Overall it was a great experience, the vibe was on point no mistaking it for anything else than a Irish pub, the beer and Cider brought back good memories of our time in Ireland, service was amazing she was there just the right amount and it was quick as well, my wife ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the Irish Puff which was basically a corned beef sandwich toasted, it was delicious great corned beef, and I substituted French fries instead of the chips which would be crisps, so I had chips with my Irish Puff, they had Guiness Stew and Shepards pie but I'm extremely picky with those items I love them both and maybe next time I'll try them, the fish and chips were battered perfect and cook need more perfect, they were crispy even in the center and even after a heavy dose of malt vinegar, the chips were cooked perfectly as well, overall the food always delicious, if I had to be petty and split hairs I would say it would have been nice if the Tarter sauce was homemade and not from a packet, the fish was flaky and moist, batter was just the perfect amount, so it was a shame to squeeze a packet of tarter sauce on such delicious food, they had live music which was quite good considering we are in Granbury Texas, overall it was a great surprise, great job Pub McDonough we will be back. read more

My husband & I finally went to The Pub but probably won't go back. You only get to sit at a 3 top pub table (I know it's a pub) there may have been 1-2 small tables, only 1 waitress. I was disappointed there was not a Rueben sandwich on the menu but they served corn beef on a taco!? I had the cheeseburger that was fair, the waitress didn't offer me fries which I would have preferred, my husband ordered the fish & chips (fair). They also played very loud annoying Irish music, I finally had to go outside & wait for my husband to finish his beer! Won't be back.... read more

Very cute spot and the staff is top notch! We went on a Saturday night to meet friends for dinner but got a big surprise kitchen closed at 7!? Hopefully this changes soon, so basically you have to go for early dinner or lunch to try the food. We don't much hit the pub in the afternoon so not sure when we can try the food. Tried "The Pub" for the first time today. Great place and a welcomed addition to Granbury! It has a cozy bar feel, is just a couple blocks from the square, but the food doesn't disappoint either. The family and I had the "toastie" (corned beef sandwich), the Irish taco "Atlantic style (fried cod)," and an Irish beef stew. We started with corned beef and cabbage rolls. Terrible Experience - Will Never Return This is the first time I've ever felt the need to leave a review, but our experience at this pub was unbelievably bad. My fiancé and I recently moved to Granbury and were hoping to find a great local hangout spot. Unfortunately, this place isn't it. While the drinks came out quickly, we waited 30 minutes for our food--and one of the dishes was completely wrong. I clearly ordered the seafood chowder pot pie, which was listed as a weekly special and highlighted in green at the top right of the menu. I even pointed to it and confirmed with the waitress that I wanted that item. She told me it was a large portion, so there was no confusion. When the food finally arrived, she brought me a shepherd's pie. I questioned it, and she said there was "no pot pie," despite it being clearly printed on the menu. She walked off and brought over the owner, who immediately took a defensive and aggressive tone and gaslighted me by insisting I must have pointed to the wrong item on the menu--which was absolutely not true. I felt disrespected and dismissed. He said he "trusted his employee" and even told us to "calm down" and "lower our voices" when we hadn't raised them to begin with. Instead of offering a solution, he acted as if we were the problem. Eventually, he brought the correct dish out--within 10 minutes--but refused to remove the mistaken shepherd's pie from our bill. The attitude from both the waitress and owner was shocking. No apology, no accountability, and zero care for the customer experience. We had high hopes, but this place completely missed the mark. We won't be back. read more

Their Guinness blends, Fish and Chips, and Sausage rolls are perfection. Mcdonough's has everything you want in an Irish Pub, and nothing you don't. No rowdy guests, no rude/lazy staff, and NO TV! The decor is interesting enough to keep a curious eye occupied for hours, and the first responder/military memorabilia makes you proud to support the owner. The Pub is a 10/10. It has taken us a while to try this fabulous pub, but last night did not disappoint. Our only complaint is that they didn't have "The Quiet Man" and "The Boondock Saints" in loop playing on the telly. Needless to say, Kimmie our server steered us in the right direction with her suggestions of the Irish Taco, and the Fish & Chips. First time visitor yesterday, and have to say they have hit an absolute home run! I think the biggest challenge is going to be insufficient seating for the number of people that will come as the word spreads! Cool pub feel, AMAZING service (the young ladies were absolutely on point), and the food was delicious! The Irish Breakfast frankly was better than the several (English Breakfasts) I had in London! I have believed that Granbury, like it or not, is on the verge of exploding, and places like McDonough are going to be in part why people are drawn to this beautiful community! Shortly afterwards waitress comes by and says there is glitch in kitchen. 12:45 still no food. Waitress comes by again and says frier problem, we had ordered fish and chips . We were understanding , until several tables that came in half hour after us, were receiving fish and chips orders. We didn't get our order until a little after 1:00. The food when we finally got it was great.. The drinks and food deserved a 5. But waiting for over an hour , for kitchen glitch, when other tables are getting what we ordered made it a 3 star experience!! read more
