Today I called around to find a groomer to trim my English lab's nails. When I asked the price, the women who answered the phone at Prancing Poodle, she said $10.00. After my dogs nails were done, they charged me $25.00. I told her I had just called and got the $10.00 price but she would not budge from the higher price. After I paid them, I then went across Greenback to John's Grooming and he said he always charges $10.00. I'm sorry I didn't make more of a fuss at the store, but I hate arguing and confrontations with anyone. Will be going to John's Grooming for all our needs. Totally disappointed! read more

This review is overdue! Kathleen is an amazing dog groomer, she has won awards for what she does and trained under a very well known groomer. Great at grooming standard poodles, yorkies, papillons, shih tzus and various other types of breeds of dogs. She owns animals herself, that she grooms and you can tell she has a real passion for animals. Customers would always request her as their pet groomer to book their appointments and their was always a waiting list, but she still tried her best to always fit someone in and make it work if she had the time to. She worked at our family owned pet business Trends~N~Treats until we closed down shop back in 2016 and we were very fortunate to have her! My dog Macaroni got sprayed by a skunk and this staff helped this first time dog owner immensely. They were super helpful, and even though they had enough dogs to support the cast of 101 Dalmatians in their shop and typically work by appointments, they took him immediately as a walk in when they saw how distressed I was. Top tier customer service, they even dressed him up in a St. paddy's day bandana when I picked him up. It was my first time taking him to a groomer so when they said to pick him up in four hours I was a little distraught, I thought it would be more like taking my kid to get a haircut but it felt like I was dropping him off at kindergarten for the first time lol they walked me through the process and took very good care of my baby boy. Great place. I have a Yorkie that they groom. They never fail to make him look like a stylish dude when they are finished. I also have a dachshund that they trim his nails and squeeze his butt(anal glands). He is extremely skittish and nippy. They handle him well and take good care to trim his nails and squeeze his butt gently. When I go to Prancing Poodle, there are 2 groomers. Both of them have groomed our Yorkie. They both do an excellent job at making him look super sexy and ready for some Instagram action. They typically take about 3 hours to complete the grooming. They are pretty busy, but it your dog needs his/her nails trimmed, they will fit you in and do it while you wait. The same goes for the butt squeezing. I highly recommend them to anyone who has a dog that needs a haircut or a makeover. read more

I brought my long haired Welsh Corgi here for the first time (Roy) and he got the best hair cut, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, nail trimming, deshedding, dematting, and wash of his 7 years of life. I couldn't believe how good of a job they did cleaning him up after the Pet Smart in LA destroyed his fur 2 years ago. They were straight with me about how bad the matting behind his front legs and belly had become and I owned the fact that I should have been better about brushing him more, but they didn't make me feel bad about it and were respectful of the fact the life happens while being honest of the pain it causes my dog, so I took it all to heart, and decided that as of today, I'd be better about brushing him more. They cleaned him up so nicely; the most handsome I've seen him since he was a puppy. I had no problem paying them $100 for the all over groom since they took such good care of him. WOW! The owner Kathleen worked wonders on my long hair dachshund who has a spay/neuter coat plus Covid 19 owner botched haircut. I almost didn't recognize my little doxie. Last time his coat was sleek was last fall. He looks so good now. What a handsome boy! Kathleen had to use a special tool and hand strip technique to remove the excessive undercoat. On top of doing an amazing job on my little Oso, she was able to work with his behavioral issues. I've had too many inexperienced groomers at Petsmart, Dogtopia, etc. turn my dog away or scare him so much he either will soil himself or try to bite. Kathleen and her team were able to work with Oso. She also gave me some good advice on what tool to buy to help deshed my dog. She is great!! See before and after photos. I can't say enough good stuff about the Prancing Poodle in Orangevale California!!! This was our 1st time bringing our Golden Doodle Bentley. They were highly recommended by another groomer we used to go to that unfortunately cut their hours. Super cute well kept Solon!! We 1st encountered Crystal running the front desk, she was very friendly, welcoming and informative! It took almost exactly as long as they said it would which is great when you're trying to plan your day. We met Kat, the owner, and Anthony who helped to check us out, all three being groomers there. They all were extremely friendly and welcoming. And let me tell you, it's his 4th birthday next month & our Bentley has never been so well groomed & brushed in all the (almost 4 yrs) he's been going to groomers!! I would give this place zero stars if I could. I called the day before to see when I could get my dogs face and ears trimmed and they said to come in on a week day before 2pm. The man on the phone was very nice and accommodating. I walked in at 8:45am and the moment I came in the owner was extremely rude. I said I was here to get my dogs face trimmed and she said we don't do that for walk ins. She said my dog was "dirty" even though I gave her a bath the day before so she would be nice and clean for her face trim. Her tone made it very clear that I was not welcome in her store. I have never had such a rude encounter at a place and would not recommend this place to anyone. They aren't taking new clients either, so don't bother calling. read more

Kathleen has been grooming my pup, Roxy, for at least 3 years. Roxy is a miniature poodle but I prefer a non-traditional poodle cut on her. Kathleen has always been great about customizing Roxy's cut to my personal preference! We discuss before each cut if there are any changes needed including which shampoo to use. Roxy had always been extremely nervous going to previous groomers but she responds really well to Kathleen's warm, friendly, light-hearted approach and is always happy when she is leaving the shop as a beautiful, fresh smelling dog. We had read such great reviews, and having a standard poodle and golden doodle, decided to give them a try. We went 2 times with both dogs. First time was great no complaints. 2nd time, we noticed that the hair on top of eats was cut. It was sticking out. We've never seen a groomer do that, but figured we'd ask them not to do that next time. But within a week both dogs had ear infections. When we first went, we filled out paperwork and had asked for them to put cotton in their ears, since they have both had ear infections from previous groomer, separate times. Needless to say 2 dogs, with ear infections, requiring treatment twice wasn't cheap. $450 later, we get a reminder text of our next appointment. I wrote that they both had ear infections from their last visit, and to cancel our appointment. Not a call or text for concern, or even ask for another try. We realized we made a mistake We decided to stick with our original groomer of 4 years, Pampered Pet and Boutique, their prices are better, grooming better, and service better. Plus, 4 years and only 3 ear infections! Lesson learned: the grass isn't always greener on the other side. read more

10/17 Moving is so hard when you have to start all over in finding vet, groomer, etc. We were so blessed to be referred to Prancing Poodle! We live in west Roseville and the drive is well worth it. My pup loves going and you can tell he is well loved and taken care of when getting groomed. My pup needs to be hand stripped and Kathleen does an amazing job with him. Omg. Had the best experience there today! Our dogs have never been to a groomer. But after the near catasphophe last time we clipped we said we dont care. First off super reasonable priced! #1 off the bat yes! Second we told them about our dogs and asked if they want the crazy one or calm one first. They wanted crazy. Totally out in 5 mins. Said she was perfect etc. Gave them the calm one and she was the one who flipped out lol but the people there were amazing. The guys were clipping but even the girls who were dealing with other dogs were still talking to them by their names etc calming them and just talking to them. It made me feel comfortable leaving them in there. They all had compliments about both dogs even the ones who didnt work on them they still had compliments. Anyone with kids or dogs always wants to hear a positive and they were ALL amazing. Definitely would reccomend them. And btw their nails are amazing!!!!! read more
