Best non-chain restaurant in Decatur. Generous portions. Plan on taking a box home. We had the sirloin and shrimp. Perfectly cooked, the meat was delicious. The side salad was huge, with crispy fresh lettuce and sliced tomatoes. And the twice baked potato would hardly fit on the plate it was so big. Wonderful experience, hosted by highly trained waitress (Victoria). Given the size of the portions and the quality of the meal, the cost is very reasonable. We highly recommend and we will be back. read more

Service was good. Steak was tasty and cooked the way I wanted, but not tender. I expected more from a $35 strip steak. Almost as noisy as Texas Roadhouse but did get more quiet when one group left. Decor made me think of a converted fast food place. Will probably not go back. read more

Service was excellent A+ at this location, different servers came by very often to make sure we were well takin care of. The meal was just ok. Salad nice but there was some wilted leaves mixed in. the twice baked potato was sad, potatoe was still hard, and just had cheese and bacon added to the top. The good... the first amaretto sour I ordered. The Wild West shrimp fabulous The bad.... I had to send my steak back twice since I wanted it well done. Each time it came back it was still in the bloody juice that it first came in. Also, the shrimp looked like they were boiled and then put on a skewer they weren't even grilled. The attitude from the server after I sent the steak back. The first time was craziness. She acted like she was frustrated because I had to send it back. Then she started to not come to a table as frequent as the other table surrounding us. Hence we were out of water and needed water refilled. We had to wait. So today was my second time here at this restaurant after a bad first experience where my steak was horrible. But today i went in to give it another try, ordered the Salmon and it was as salty as anything can be asked for a new piece and all they did was rinse the salmon off and give me the exact same piece..... We received a delicious dinner with great service both times we've been to The Porterhouse. Both times we were a party of five-six, enjoying a very tender and tasty Sirloin steak with Twice Baked Potato, Chicken Alfredo with Broccoli, a half Rack of Baby Back Ribs and Shrimp, creamy homemade Potato Soup, and Shrimp Scampi with pasta was ok. being a realist, I never expect outstanding sea food in central Illinois. Come on now, we live in corn country! lol. Would highly recommend The Porterhouse for a relaxing, four star dinner for a comparable price with top quality service! read more

We have been twice and the service was amazing. Three of us had steaks which were tender and prepared just right. I prefer Italian and had Chicken Parmesan which was the best ever. We will definitely be returning. read more

Made a reservation for 6:30 pm on Saturday for our Wedding Anniversary. They were very pleasant while setting up the reservation over the phone. The problem started when we arrived at 6:20. The parking lot was over flowing. We had to wait till another couple finally left. When we stepped into the restaurant we literally had to press through a crowd at the door. People were standing everywhere. There was no one at the host station. The waitresses were hollering at each other. It looked like they were under staffed. At 6:50 I was finally able to speak with a hostess, she said that several people with 6:00 pm reservations were still waiting to be seated and that I might be able to get seated in 30 minutes or more. If everyone seated had reservations, which I doubt, and there was still 6:00pm reservations not seated then maybe they overbooked the reservations or they seated walk-ins before people with reservations then maybe you let the walk-ins know it will be a long wait and seat the reservations first. Since we did not await to see if we might be seated I cannot rate the food. read more

We just celebrated our 21st Anniversary at Porterhouse. Good Experience. Our waitress, Bethany was my favorite part.

This was our first and last time there. Two of us had to send our steaks back because they were so over cooked. There was no way my filet was a filet. The server said she hasn't had one complaint since she's worked there. (Maybe today was her first day.) I have truly had better steak at Ponderosa. I will be shocked if they are still open a year from now. read more

Steak was tender and well seasoned. I had a salad and mashed potatoes on the side. I picked through the salad the lettuce wasn't very fresh. Mashed potatoes were good. My kids got salmon and they said it was good. Broccoli was bland and the macaroni and cheese was literally just Kraft macaroni out the box with a slice of cheese melted on top. New place in town. I can't day enough how great our experience was. 6 people. Waitress was fun and service was amazing. Old fashion was very good. All had steaks cook to perfection. The value is incredible. 42 for a 22 oz porterhouse. Wow. 2 sides included and salad. Apps were great. You have to go here. Imo now best place in decatur. read more

Our waitress was wonderful but the owners daughters who were waitressing also were awful. She could not even tend to us without her getting yelled at to tend to other tables. They were terrible. read more
