The food was excellent, the atmosphere is cute, but don't go if you are tight on time. They were willing to split 2 items between my friend and I, which was super nice. We started with the yeast rolls which are baked fresh and melt in your mouth. As an appetizer we had the fried brussels with the spicy aioli on the side. The bacon jam added sweetness to the inherent bitter of the brussel sprouts. I tried the aioli and didn't add any. It was good without. We had the steak with mint chimmichurri and the salmon and polenta. The salmon was well cooked, but the polenta lacked flavor. It needed something. The steak was perfectly cooked as well, the mint chimmichurri was ok, but also felt like it was lacking something. Then the veggie sides were just plain. It was fun, but not quite 5 stars. The other thing that might be helpful is having one actual server. You can tell that the servers aren't experienced in that and don't really multitask well. It's still a good experience and worth a visit if you are in Decatur. read more

Fantastic lunch menu. Had the cheese broccoli soup and the black-and-blue salad. Both were excellent. The steak on the salad was one of the best I've had in months. Great presentation for both dishes, great service, friendly staff, and very nice venue. Prices were reasonable. Definitely one of the nicest restaurants in Decatur. They deserve the 5-star review. I've been to culinary school restaurants and this was just disappointing. Start with a wobbly table they couldn't fix and didn't know about so we had to be moved. Then we get a beer list that was discontinued and the current one only had four selections. OK that's not the food so no big deal, but the server was obviously clueless about any of the selections. We get the cheese and humus plates to start. The server had no idea what was on the cheese plate and there are only four cheeses on it. The plates were fine, but didn't see a whole lot of presentation which I would normally expect from culinary students. Then the meal. My friend had the garlic shrimp which was the "favorite" of the server. What came out was 6 dried up looking shrimp that apparently had a garlic flavor but there was no sauce and again no presentation. Plus they were overcooked and just unappealing. They should never have served them. I got the filet for $13 which is a pretty good deal and right away lowered my expectations. I got a small but very tender and perfectly cooked medium rare filet with a baked sweet potato and the green beans and bacon. There was absolutely nothing to the plating of the food. The sweet potato had some butter and honey and the green beans were limp and the bacon hard to find. The butter on the filet was nice though and I have to say I enjoyed it. I had a hard time deciding between two stars for the very unappealing shrimp dish and three for the basic filet dish which was a great deal for the price. This is a long way from the 5 star rating others gave. read more

Went to Bistro Five Thirty Seven because my wife and I love the concept that Richland Community College has with the Culinary Students. We ended up loving the food. I had the Roasted Fall Soup as an appetizer; was delicious . Then had the Grilled Ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. I finished the meal with the Ice Cream Trio. My husband and I love Bistro Five Thirty Seven. Great spot for a lunch or date night. The food is always excellent, with the menu changing about once a month or so. They have a nice selection of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. There hasn't been anything that we didn't love! They have limited hours since it's run by Richland's Culinary Arts students, but as long as you know this ahead of time, it's no big deal. Highly recommended! read more

This is a great place to go to try something a little different than the type of food offered by other restaurants in the Decatur area, plus you get to be a part of an educational experience in being served by culinary students. I've been a huge fan and supporter of Richland's Culinary school for years. The menu changes every season, but I have had some great prime rib sandwiches, burgers, flatbreads, soups, appetizers, etc... But I recommend making reservations if possible. read more

The students do a great job under Chef Tucker's direction! We enjoyed lunch the other day. The menu has variety and something interesting for everyone. The food is prepared very well. Not just well for students, but well. We have enjoyed dinner several times and will certainly be back for lunch again too in the future. Bistro 537 definitely deserves your attention. The restaurant is on Richland Community College's campus and is run by their culinary program's students. Food is both prepared and served by students. The menu changes every other month to offer a nice selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts. There is always a vegetarian option on the menu as well. It's a great, local place to go to enjoy affordable, fine dining at it's best. The director/instructor of the culinary program, Chef Tucker, is always there to oversee all the operations of the restaurant. They have limited hours (lunch 11-1, dinner 6-8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays), so it's always a great idea to make reservations. read more

Although the hours are limited (Tuesday and Thursday lunch and dinner), the menu offers a range of carefully planned items that allow the Culinary Arts students to practice their craft.
