I was waiting for Mel from Mel's diner to walk out from the kitchen scratching his backside. :) The staff knows all of the patrons by first name. The food was like grandma used to make and the coffee was great. Prices were good and the service was second to none If you're looking for a Starbucks kind of vibe this ain't the place. What dump. I was going to eat and catch up on emails and was kicked out by Debby. She said they don't allow office work, which is stupid. In the 30+ years I've never had that happen. We have only been in the area since early June. We are making our way around to the local area spots. Debbie's caught my eye a few days ago. In the midst of a local heat wave, their A/C went down. I saw Debby (owner) post that they would close early out of concern for the safety of her people. I love good leadership where ever I find it. So that interaction pushed this diner to the top of the list. We went for lunch today. So glad, didn't get to meet Debby, but had a great time with the two young women holding down the fort who are great ambassadors for the Diner, their town, and their generation. They were both, effecient, pleasant, and engaging. My wife had the popcorn shrimp/fries. I got a patty melt/fries and coleslaw. Every item was simple, and well prepared. I liked the coleslaw, and I can be a harsh critic. The fries are those crispy battered kind, a favorite for both of us. We will absolutely be back, we live here now and need good dependable places. A town needs good, locally owned/staffed places, it is a connector, a community center. We will read more

Just a simple diner with great food and very friendly service. The burgers are delicious, made with freshly ground beef and hand formed into patties. These are NOT the frozen pre-formed patties you get at most places. Hand-cut fries are yummy too! Even during the lunch rush, we were well taken care of. We even received a special treat for our granddaughter. It is a fun place, with authentic decorations and a happy crowd of regulars. read more

Excellent 'home' cooking in a very diner-ish atmosphere. Have eaten here around 6 or 8 times and everytime, the food is delicious and perfect portion sizes. Meatloaf, fried chicken and last time, the pork tenderloin.... they really do it right here! Have never had room for dessert but apparently, the pies are to die for! Great casual place and so refreshing compared to 'the chains'...... Well worth trying if you've never tried it! read more

I can't comment on the food. We didn't get to the point of ordering before we got up and left. I would advise that you stay away from this place unless you are local. We sat down. After a few minutes the waitress took our drink order. We finally got to see a menu when she brought our drinks. From that moment on, we were ignored. About 10 minutes after we were ready to order an obviously local couple sat down near us. Within 3 minutes our waitress had their drinks and was ready to take their order. We went to the register and offered to pay for the drinks we drank 1/2 of, but the girl ( not our waitress ) apologized, and told us not to worry about it. We left and went to Diamonds. Excellent service and food, and we even double tipped the waitress there. read more
