I'm not sure if this is always a buffet diner or if that's just on Sunday. We were there on a Sunday and the food was first rate. In addition to the buffet, the had an omelette and crepe bar. Servers were very friendly, refilling glasses and removing used dishes. The place was filled with a post church service crowd who all seemed to know each other but were very friendly. read more

This is a local bar and restaurant that sort of feels like a chain restaurant. Thankfully, the food and service are that of a local place. During my visit at lunchtime, the parking lot was packed, and I was able to snag one of the last 2 spots. I decided to sit at the bar area. After looking at the menu, which had a lot of options, I was set on a burger since I saw a sign that indicates their burger uses fresh ground chuck and they pair that with hand cut fries. I chose the bacon avocado burger with cheese (cheddar). To make things even more enticing, they also give you a free cup of soup with your burger order. The burger is made to order and cooked to your liking. I chose medium rare, and it came out minutes later cooked perfectly. This burger really hit the spot and is a full 1/2 pound. The fries are just as great, and I was able to eat most of them. I'm not a big soup person, but the cheese soup seemed fairly consistent with what a cheese soup would taste like. I had never had this type of soup before. No complaints at all about the meal. Service was just as excellent, and their restrooms were clean as well. read more

Came with my family, service was bad. We had at least 3 different people talk to us and only saw our main waitress once or twice. Our food took about 45 minutes and when it came out it was cold and sloppy. The fries were burnt and brittle, my pasta came with no chicken and had barely any taste to it. Stopped for lunch today while passing through Decatur. My husband had the original hamburger. He loved it and described it as a super flavorful hand pressed burger. I had the reuben sandwich, it was fabulous they roast their own corned beef. Super delicious! But my absolute favorite and may cause me to detour to come back was the homemade cheesecake topped with fresh strawberries. OMG just heavenly!! Lastly. The service was outstanding!!! I saw that they served Penne Alla Vodka and since I recently had made some back home I wanted to compare flavors and I have to say the pasta tastes amazing! The smooth creamy flavor mixed with the vodka is phenomenal. The atmosphere is very pleasant and peaceful. I had the fried calamari as an appetizer and I got much more than I was expecting coming from Miami. If you're ever in Decatur, I highly recommend this place. read more

We were driving through Decatur on a long trip & were tired, hungry, & sick of fast food. Benny's Grill had very good food for carry out as well as excellent customer service! The food took maybe 20-25 mins, tops, on a Sunday night? Salmon with dill sauce, sweet potato fries, fried mushrooms, homemade-every-day chicken noodle soup, & chicken Caesar salad were all wins--our 6yo LOVED the soup & roll they gave him to go with it. And he is a selective eater! I give the restaurant 4/5 stars only because the menu was tough to read on my phone based on how it was displayed. Also, the green beans that came with my salmon were overcooked for me. Even though food is waaayyy better when it's not eaten as takeout in the car, this was darn good & worth eating as carry out over other restaurant options! That means a lot during travel with kids and the COVID pandemic. On top of it all, the restaurant staff were really helpful when we thought my husband left his wallet behind (we found it--phew!). We will definitely eat here again. read more

Driving home I have seen the place and looked nice. I have now gone there several times and I can say it is an excellent place The place is clean, nice parking area and the wait staff has an excellent demeanor towards the guest. Many of the customers are apparently repeating, since they know the wait staff. The food I ordered once for take out and another time dine in, was prepared correctly, tasted excellent and was quite fast, also the portions are larger than what I could eat. read more

We just moved back to the area and want to support all the local spots. Benny's offers a really nice menu with a variety of delicious choices. We decided to have the burgers and they didn't disappoint! The fries were also great and the service was exceptional. This was our first time trying this restaurant and we can definitely see why it would be a local favorite. Honestly if you've never been or question whether to go....don't. Benny's is one of the best places to eat in Decatur. Their burgers are always cooked to perfection. My favorite would probably be the spicy burger. It's not too spicy - just enough to give it a nice kick. If you're looking for a hefty sandwich, try the Fatty Melt (pictured). It's pretty tasty! If you're there on Sunday, I suggest the brunch buffet. Everything is delicious, especially the pasta! We went for Easter brunch and I had some of the best fried chicken I had had in awhile. Restaurants want positive reviews and return customer's yet they can't even find a staff that is professional and wanting to provide a pleasurable dining experience. The place was NOT clean. We were out for a ride and stopped at Benny's grill for lunch..nice little place, my husband and I both had a burger (I had the spicy burger ) my husband had the blue Lucy burger. These burgers were VERY good, no frozen patty's you could tell they were fresh pand hand pattied! Their ff's were very good!
