My burger was cooked exactly to my specifications (medium, little bit of pink) which provided a juicy base to the build-your-own additions. Fries were solid and I appreciated the pickle spear to round out the dish. I started with wings, but their buffalo sauce is...unique. It was late and I was tired to get out at night for dinner. This place is located in Holliday inn at Forsyth, IL. It is very convenient for the guests staying here. They have a reasonable sized menu to choose from. I had chosen grilled chicken Cobb salad. It was colorful and very fresh. The chicken was well done and was relatively hard. Burger Theory is a fun burger/has pub style restaurant. There are the usual appetizers of wings, nachos, and so on. Dinner are mostly burger option, but plenty of them and they even have build your own. Had wings and a burger along with an adult beverage while enjoying big screen games as well as having good conversations with the staff. Being attached to Holiday Inn chain you can bill your room, yeah IHG points! Overall my experience was pleasant and will look to enjoy Burger Theory when staying at the hotel again. We were in for a Women's bowling tournament. We had people get there early and then the rest of the party arrived. The waitress while nice was not able to handle the three tables total in the restaurant. What was going on behind the scenes was a kitchen with moldy rotten vegetables (manager said they had to 86 it all) and a non communication to the waitress who maybe was a first day trainee from how it was us guiding her through taking an order. Once again nice but not on point with what to ask per meal and how would you like to it etc. It took and 1 hour and 43 minutes for me to get my food. I was the last person in my group and my plate was late by 20 minutes. Had to wait to see the waitress again to ask, who was perplexed as to why I didn't have my food herself till she said oh wait I never brought your salad. Went to kitchen found it on top shelf and brought it. It was not believable how bad. I had no bun, it had lettuce under it and on it that had velvet like mold on it. The burger was the size of a single patty on a McDouble. It was so overcooked and old the cheese was hard rubber on top and you could play drums on it which I did. The salad they brought was scavenged out of the few ok vegetables they had according to the manager because Sysco has been bringing rotten vegetables. I had no grilled peppers, no grilled onions and no mushrooms because they were so bad the manager at the end said. when the waitress realized when she brought me my bill because everyone else had gotten messed up orders and we were trying to get out of there after 3 hours she said a discount wasn't enough. It would be free. The French fries were hard and had been refried. They were like greasy powder when you bit one. Everyone was told there was no ranch. Then it appeared on my plate. That they would even attempt to charge full price for everyone's food when they all were missing components of the hamburgers and the fries were horrible for everyone. When the manager came he blamed the hotels orders and how backed up they were. I understand things happen. But the whole time no one communicated anything. Nothing even when I asked, they are working on it. Bad management, poor service and communication and the worst food experience involving a burger and fries and salad ever. This is a pretty casual place to drop by and grab a burger or grab a drink at the bar. I ordered the chicken burger with fries, which was pretty much the average chicken burger that you can get anywhere - nothing fantastic, not bad either. I also ordered a pizza with mushrooms, onions and peppers which was pretty terrible - the cheese was dry, the vegetables were sparse so I threw most of it out! Overall, I would not go back. There are so many other restaurants and food options nearby. It's a fine place if you're staying at the Holiday Inn and really can't be bothered to go anywhere else and grab a burger and a drink! We had a problem with our bill. The manager did not know how to fix it. She not only seemed incapable of rectifying the situation, she seemed very uncaring and rude about it. We understand that mistakes happen but, effort and kindness should be used when you are trying to run a fairly new business. We spent several hours in Burger Theory trying to get the problem worked out. We talked to several employees. We are still waiting to get the problem worked out. Very frustrating, dissapointing and hard to believe. I have been to Burger Theory three times. I love to give new restaurants in the Decatur Area a chance. I am a very fair and level headed person. Two of the three times I have been there , there have been problems with the bill and the service. I don't see how this Burger Theory can survive with these kinds of issues. I've had Mexican style burgers before but they're never quite that good. This burger was on point. The fries were great. Plentiful and come in a little bucket. The cook brought out to the table. He was very friendly. I was satisfied with the meal. Now on to why they only get 3 stars. We walked into the restaurant. The hostess was not very friendly or welcoming. It felt like she didn't even want to greet us. Our server apparently wanted to top the hostess. THE SERVICE SUCKED. Ok, I had to get that out of my system. She was by far one of the worst servers I've ever had. Not personable. Inattentive. She barely came to check on us. I didn't get a refill on my drink until I was almost done with my meal. I would have asked for one IF she had come anywhere near our table. And like I said above, the cook brought our food out. What made things worse is there was an awesome and friendly server helping some tables near us. Why couldn't we have gotten her!? I really wish I could be the guy who makes a point through my tip but I can't do it. As good as the burger was, I do not plan on returning. If I'm spending money then I don't want to feel like a burden. There are plenty of places with great food AND great service. I had the Farm Fresh Burger that was recommended by the bartender and was really good. It had Boursin cheese on it which was a first for me....Loved it. I upgraded to onion rings and tasted awesome. Very crispy. My wife had the veggie burger with the toppings of the menu burger On the Border with a side salad. I'm not much into veggie burgers but thought it tasted like hamburger...I was impressed. The side salad was equally amazing too with balsamic dressing. It's a hotel bar. Need I say more? Sure, why not. It's basically in the Holiday Inn. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have basic bar food with a specialty of crafting your own burger. Kind of like Chipotle for Burgers but not as flavorized from what I had. Have chicken strips and other stuff. Minimal staff makes it have longer wait times, of course I don't know where they would find more staff as the city is pretty small or at least here it is located makes it out in farm country. Super embarrassing when the server gives me the wrong dish--twice--and I have to let her know (twice) I did not order what she presented. I had a veggie burger with--allegedly--burger sauce and pico de gallo. It appeared neither was on the burger, and when I asked, the server told me to "look under my bun". Yeah, no thanks. She later brought pico to me (It was too late by then). The promised cheese was also missing--probably a blessing. The bun was awful--like a cheap bun from a convenience store. I would advise, if you have to eat here, to get no bun. A lettuce wrap may even be dicey based on the salad experience. Had a wonderful breakfast! We were the only patrons in the restaurant which was concerning at first. The waitress was warm and friendly and the food was amazing! Usually the veggie patty is generic but this "burger" was delicious. Pizza was tasty, good. My partner got nacho fries and a burger cook well. The fries were delicious and the burger was well but still juicy, which to me is a rare occurrence. He had two long islands. The menu could be bigger but as long as the food is as good as it was this time, it doesn't need to be. Service was really good too. Wasn't that busy but wasn't empty.
