Another surprise waiting around the corner in Savannah. This was a little bit of a walk from our hotel but ended up being a happy accident (we were going to the dessert place nextdoor). The Portal is an old school gaming bar. A plethora of pinball machines awaits you here (Ghostbusters & Stranger Things top the list). They also have 2 skee ball lanes in front and The Walking Dead shoot 'em up game. Classic TMNT Arcade game (but only one player could play - the other slots weren't open). A massive screen with about 50-60 old school titles to play available too. One pool table, one air hokey table, a classic Mrs. Pac-Man/Galaga machine, a Pac-Man machine & a few other novelty games available. The bar was near the back and didn't have a ton of room. There is an ATM machine, next to the quarter dispenser. Good news is, the ATM will give you 2 Tens if you select $20. The quarter dispenser takes $1/$5/$10. Overall, it's a fun stop and I'd recommend checking it out.

Who doesn't love a game room! This place has an impressive collection of pin ball machines. If you love pinball or haven't ever played this is the place to go. They also have many other type games like skee ball as well. There is a small bar and a pool table in the back. They have a great selection of beer for such a small place. The service is always great! They have the wall filled with fake ids on the wall of the bar. So don't even try it! It's great for small groups or even date night. It's close to the cat cafe so you can look in at the kitties before or after. This is one of my favs here in Savannah.

Looking for a easy place to eat dinner. Found this on yelp. Walked in to ringing pinball machines. Went to the back had a seat at the bar friendly service. We ordered a Ruben and a Chicago dog, two drinks. They were both delicious. Had a good conversation with one of the bartenders Regarding a digestif he had at the bar. I looked up a drink mix and he made it, delicious. Then I played Star Wars platinum, haven't played pinball in years. two bucks for 20 minutes to play. Lots of fun, great place to go. Don't miss it.

Small dive type place, not fancy, with very reasonably priced beers and. Cocktails. It has several pinball machines that are a dollar a game or three games for $2. There were also a handful of other games and an air hockey and pool table. The hotdog was good, it was hot and fresh. I also had a sandwich that was also good. The staff was friendly. It is kind of an all ages place I saw college aged up to people in their 60s that just dropped through for a snack and cocktail and a quick arcade game.

We went here as our first date night stop! It was too hot inside to stay but we played a few games and had a drink. It was pretty empty when we went maybe half a dozen people tops! The drink was decent, price was fair not my favorite spot but it was fun!

We were looking for somewhere quick to grab a bite to eat before heading to the dessert restaurant where we had reservations. This place was a few doors down so we decided to give it a try. Upon walking in, this place looks like a total hole in the wall....floors could use a little work and there are old arcade games (which I found very cool) everywhere making it a bit crowded in an already small area. It's very retro and games are priced from 25 cents to a dollar. We headed to the counter to see what kind of food they had. We didn't have high expectation when they told us they were out of a few things my friend tried to order and when trying to order soda, we were told that the carbonation system was broke. We didn't have much time before our reservations so we decided to order what we could. My fiancé and I opted for chili dogs. Let me tell you--these were THE BEST damn hot dogs I have ever had (yes, I had to curse, they were THAT good)! It was a 1/4 lb beef hot dog, juicy and delicious topped with chili and onions. The chili seemed homemade? It was sooo good. Our friends ordered a meatball hoagie and a panini and they agreed that their food was very good as well. We tried to order more hot dogs but the one gentleman that was working behind the counter by himself was overwhelmed and told us it would be awhile. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to wait. This place is super cool though--I would love to come back and play some games and have some more hot dogs when we have more time!!

Sat down at an empty bar, with two people working behind it. One cook making hot dogs and one lady who is the bartender/server. Sat there for a few minutes while the lady was on her phone and decided to finally come greet us. It's a cold Sunday night so i wasn't expecting the place to be busy. But the service should've been a little better. The hot dog took awhile but it was pretty good, surprisingly good actually. Which made this experience a little better. The games looked pretty cool and they had a pool table that we played on. The pool table definitely needs some work and the balls needed a good cleaning, but it is what it is for a $1 game. Saw a bunch of youngins walked in and played the games, they looked like they were definitely under 21 and not old enough to be in a bar, it was about 11pm so didn't think underage kids would be allowed. Overall I love the concept and the hot dog was good. Just wished the two nice people behind the bar were a little more attentive.

I enjoy bars that have arcade games. There is no pressure to order a drink if you want to just play games and vice versa. The Portal definitely has a dive feel to it. The have a lot of the classic arcade games as well as the pool and air hockey tables in the back. The games all take quarters, so there is a change machine where you can feed in bills and then get the quarters in exchange. They had a stack of cups next to the quarters which was also convenient since my friend and I got $10 worth of quarters to play games (we did not use all of them). My favorite of the arcade games we played were Ms. Pacman and Galaga. We did not have any problems with the machines and they worked well. Overall, it was a fun pit stop while exploring the nightlife scene in Savannah although not my favorite place we went.

Unadulterated fun with an uber retro feel. The portal is an arcade that reminded me of my youth. The establishment has a ton of old school coin operated games that are reasonably priced. There is an air hockey and pool table in the back. The portal is also a full service bar and serves food until 4am. The men (especially Nick) behind the counter were so friendly and personable which lent to a great time. We were having such a great time we decided to order food. The food was good however my only critique was it was lukewarm. That was strange because it was cooked right on the spot. Nevertheless, my husband and I have found our new hangout spot. Please give the portal a chance you won't be sorry. This is a gem of a business with excellent customer service.

It is a very large collection of everything spooky, odd and strange! There are entire rooms focused on serial killers, such as Gacy, HH Holmes and Richard Ramirez. We were in there for a very long time and learned so much from the women running the tour. There was even a guy in our group who had been childhood friends with one of Gacy's victims, which was incredibly surreal and really hit home how real all of this was, and not just entertainment. They also have, or are going to have, another location in Chicago which is very exciting and I would definitely seek that out next time I am there. All in all a 10/10 experience.

Even still you are heavily warned about what is in each room should you not want to see or experience something by the staff. They were so helpful!! Their regular price is $25 OR $50 for a two day pass, tshirt, tote (or a pin), and sticker. Absolutely great deal if you're wanting some merch. Very spooky, eerie, and overall an interesting time!

I found that TAB was kinda on my route back to the hotel so I headed that way on a solo adventure. Unlike the droves of other bars nearby, this one is tucked away by itself and downstairs in a basement. The vibe is all 80's/90's and heavy on nostalgia for millennials. I loved the beetlejuice snake popping in and out of the ceiling! There is a whole room of pool tables, a section of arcade games, and other fun activities like a photo booth. Maybe it's because I was in a good mood and a few cocktails deep, but the DJ was crushing it. He finished up with karaoke right as I arrived, but for the rest of the night he kept the energy high with amazing mixes. I couldn't bear to miss any jams so I ended up staying until close and finishing out the night. I can't wait for my next visit to SAV to come back.

I really love the old school decor. You can find everything from a VCR to the old school TV shows playing in the background, old school games, they even had this scary looking doll lamp and different nik knacks throughout the location. The bathroom was super cute with different paintings on the wall and it was so clean and not expected of what you would see in a bar. I definitely want to come back for karaoke or some of the other themed nights.

The good: outside you'll find go-karts, one small carnival ride, and mini golf. The go-karts were a lot of fun, and I appreciated that staff emphasized safety and made sure everyone was being careful. Inside, there are arcade games, but most are very old and in need of updating. Parking is plentiful, which is a plus. The not-so-good: the cost felt high for what you get. We paid $35.99 per person for unlimited bumper cars, which came with 36 arcade credits. For three people, that added up quickly, and the quality just didn't match the price. The staff was fine--nothing exceptional--but not unfriendly either. We didn't try any food during our visit, so I can't speak to that. Overall: Fun Zone has potential, but it feels stuck in the past. The go-karts are enjoyable, but the rest of the experience is underwhelming. With some investment and updates, this place could be much better.
