This place has a great view of OU's campus from its rooftop bar area. When I was there with some friends, we had some decent sandwiches, but I feel like sandwich places are a dime a dozen. I had a good brunch from here. Service was attentive and food was brought out in a timely manner. Their brunch menu was also reasonably priced with lots of good selections to choose from. I had the huevos rancheros. They make it different here since there was no sauce over the dish. I didn't like the side of potatoes that came with it. It's semi-busy and no tables are empty, i spot an empty chair and 2 white girls on the other two chairs. I come meet them with a smile and politely request if i can sit on the empty chair because i would like to stare at the view and they say it's okay. We chat with the white guy on the other table who looked so young and i was like, "you look so young, you're a lucky guy to have such good genes, he laughs it off and i sit on the chair and got the 1st sip of my cold beer enjoying the view. As i was sitting there minding by business and keeping it to myself. One of the white girls says "it's a nice view right" and i said yes it is! I said how i like the university building and how beautifully gothic it was (in my head remembering my architectural summer class that i really enjoyed). The girl smiles at me and i smiled back and faced the view and continued drinking my cold beer. Minutes later the girls left. And within a few minutes a young black man (looks like in his late 20's ) with dreadlocks comes up to me and in a rough tone says, "you should move to that chair over there!" i was startled because i didn't know who he was or why he was telling me to move. I said "why?" and "who are you?" He wasn't wearing any branded uniform to identify himself as a worker for the bar. So i thought its some random guy trying to find trouble. I said, "i don't know you and who you are so i'm sorry i'm not moving anywhere. He said "i work here!" and i said, you should have started by identifying yourself brother' He left and sat at a corner. As i drunk my beer, i thought, why would he ask me to move! So i went to him and asked him politely, why he wanted me to move. He said the white girls who left called for help! From him! And i asked "to be helped with what?" And he said that the white girls felt uncomfortable around me! And i was like that's not true, the girls were nice to me and i was nice to them and we were even chatting before they left. Before you know it, this black guy calls 2 other white guys trying to throw me out. The white owner joined them cursing at me and snatching my drink throwing it and called the police!!!!!!!! This is how innocent black men are shot dead when they are innocent! Not committing any crimes and trying to enjoy a beer after a long hard day. I'm lucky these police did not pull the trigger on me! I try to be overly positive with reviews in general, but I would rate this place less than one star if possible, for the following. 1) I've been there twice for lunch and dinner and have yet to have food served. ( fool me once, ..) 2) The service was awful. Not just a lack of attention, literally rude and entitled. 3) Complete lack of organization and understaffed. This is my new go to spot when visiting campus! The Porch restaurant is conveniently located on campus corner and features seating both upstairs, downstairs, and patio seating. The upstairs seating has a beautiful views of campus and is perfect for gameday drinks and food! Our server was very friendly and attentive. There is a selection of restaurant cocktails but there is also a full bar for whatever you would like to drink. Both the loaded nachos and the chicken strips were delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody, especially those wanting to get together in groups/with friends! read more

It's been a week or so since we had lunch here, and I still can't wrap my head around it. Hands down, top 5 worst restaurant experiences ever in my life. ** note, they did comp our food. But that didn't really make up for anything except saving us some money.** Let's see, we sat down about 11:30 for lunch and were served waters. When the server came back and asked us if we wanted appetizers, I was able to order a drink. We were not asked about drinks. I'd say 20mins later, we get appetizers and place our food order for a 6 top. 45 mins later, our server said they are getting our order ready and it should be another 15 mins. Wtf. 30 mins later, the food starts coming out, staggered, mind you. Prob about ten minutes in between. The food is lukewarm to cold. It's sandwiches. SANDWICHES. Another 15 mins we were told they can't make one of the meals. We finally order something else to go. As far as refills go, that was also not an option until we managed to flag someone down. And since you're sitting there for two hours, you have nothing to do but drink water. Two hours. Two hours for sub par food with sub par service. No communication from upper management or our server until we finally asked what was gong on. The food wasn't even worth the wait. The buffalo chicken sandwich was bone dry. Just chicken fingers and lettuce on white bread with maybe a small drizzle of sauce. Other hot sandwiches came without cheese even being melted. The fries would've been great if they were hot. We were told when we sat that they were out of some stuff (out? At open? What?). The small menu of fancy sounding but poorly executed sandwiches + a few salads and soup is a weird fit for the space. It's a large restaurant with a bar vibe, I was expecting elevated bar food. I really hope they get it together before fall, although we won't be returning. What a nightmare! read more

The Porch just launched a new Brunch Menu. Everything is $9 and comes with a side! I had the breakfast burrito with sweet potato fries. It was very delicious and the sweet potato waffle fries were cooked to perfection. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffle sandwich and ate the whole thing. I had the Offsides burger at this place . My first time here. It was excellent!!! Cooked perfectly and the grilled onions and loads of bacon were cooked perfectly. I sat at the bar and watched football while talking with Jason the bartender. Nothing was missed. Service was spot on. I overheard another customer say how great the club Special was. We tried a couple of sandwiches, and I got the buffalo chicken salad and fried pickles which were outstanding. I was really excited to try this place but sadly was disappointed. I felt like it was a knockoff of The Mule in OKC. Tried a house margarita, it was too sweet/syrup-y. Didn't drink it. Tried the fried cheese curds, they really fell short. Nothing impressive. I had the chicken and waffles sandwich, it was decent, but nothing special. Had a side of Mac n cheese, it tasted just like the mac at KFC. On a positive note, the service and atmosphere were great. The view of campus is beautiful. Maybe I went too soon after the opening. Went to the Porch the other night looking for vegan options and they had none. Website is very misleading. Also, half of their beer list they do not have. Not impressed with the service either. The general manager came by and we gave her an ear full. She was a last minute replacement and said she inherited a mess. The menu will be changing. I've been here twice since it opened. I'll start with positives. The location is wonderful, fun, and will be great on game days. The building is cool. I love the idea of the different levels and the rolling doors that open out onto the street facing the campus. But, here's where it gets disappointing. The food is boring. I ordered two different sandwiches the two times I went. Both were ok, but nothing special. I asked for mustard and the waitress said they didn't have any. For a sandwich place, how can you not have mustard? Then, when I asked for a to go box the first time I went, the waiter said they didn't have any. WHAT? There was no solution he brought forward, it was just SOL. Which brings me to the service. I understand it can be hard to find good servers in a college town especially during the summer. But the wait staff is AWFUL. Both times it took an act of god to get them to come back to see if we needed anything. It wasn't even that busy when I went. All of this has to change or else The Porch will be closed soon. It's a shame because the concept is cool, the location is great, the ambiance is fun, but people don't come to sit and stare; they come to eat good food and have a good time. The latter I didn't experience twice now. The managers and owners CAN fix the wrongs and completely turn around the business. But it's up to them to iron out the kinks. There is NO reason why a restaurant bar on Campus Corner should fail or have bad business. read more

We have a few friends who work here who insisted we have to try the food so we came back to eat here. The service was fast the waitress was very attentive and answered all our questions. The food was really good I got fried cheese curds and chicken tenders the waitress recommended the porch sauce to dip them in and it was delicious. Boyfriend got the the Dagwood and the Mac and cheese sandwich was good but he asked for no veggies and it it came with tomato and onion no big deal just picked it off he didn't really like the Mac and cheese so I'd skip it and get fries. So I was there for a very private event - the space is amazing. It will be a great spot on campus corner - and the view of campus is better than Volaré simply because it's closer to campus (directly on Boyd street). Great patio situation, amazing decor, music was great, heat lamps outside in case the temperature drops. Definitely a versatile place for lunch, dinner, drinks, or to watch sports. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Took 40 minutes to get our drinks. DO NOT ORDER THE WINE. All they have is a cheap Barefoot knockoff that could easily be used for carburetor cleaner. I ordered a chardonnay and it was room temperature. The pour was maybe 6oz, max, which, fine, whatever, it was abominable. I also ordered chips and queso and salsa. The chips were okay, and the queso was acceptable, but you could not prove it by me that the third bowl wasn't some kind of chili-based substance. It was not obvious that there were any kind of tomatoes or other vegetable substance in it. I wish I had had the presence of mind to take a picture. What even was that stuff? It took a ridiculous amount of time to get a check. I paid in cash because no way was I being held hostage for another hour while they had my credit card. The actual porch was nice, and if they had decent food and a reasonable staff, it would be great, but no way will I go back unless they get new management. read more

I came here for happy hour on a Thursday and was pleased. They had $1.50 domestics and a $4 cherry limeade cocktail which was their special. I got the cherry limeade and it was delicious! It was in a full size glass so definitely a good deal. We sat on the top outside (the eponymous porch) and it was upper 80s, but there was shade and a nice breeze. The view of campus was lovely. The porch..... the whole point of this restaurant is the amazing patio space on the second floor. I've been here 4 times now and only once has it been open. Today I asked my server why, to which he replied "because it's so miserably hot." I interpret this as pure laziness considering every other restaurant with a patio in Norman is open, regardless of the Oklahoma summer heat. (Currently 89 degrees) I get that lifting the second floor doors to open up the patio will make the second floor a bit warmer, but the first floor is enclosed and very cool. Go down there if you don't want to be slightly warmer. I decided this is the last time I'll be here. I came with 2 friends today. One said it's only okay if you want to come drink. I don't agree considering all the campus corner & Norman bars that offer the exact same drink choices. The food menu is just sad it's so plain. It lacks in creativity and and as someone who tries to steer away from fried foods and sandwiches, I cannot recommend a single item on the menu. I'll try again come football season but I'll make sure I get some decent food before. read more
