In a not-so-great neighborhood off of Interstate 40, this white and red building is home to many different flavors of popcorn. The ones I will drive hundreds of miles for are the ones of chile variety, both sweet and savory. Red chile mixed with caramel corn is an unexpected delight. In NM, you don't have to decide between red or green chile, just order Christmas style. Savory styles can have Hatch green chile, red chile, or both, and can be left plain or dusted with cheese powder. Craveable perfection that can be bought in small or large bags. 1/2024: DEFINITELY RECOMMEND Great, friendly customer service. Popcorn Cannery is part of Buffett's Candies family if you didn't know. Similar layout as Buffett's Candies, but it's gourmet popcorn. Drive over the railroad tracks, go about 400 feet, and there it is; located right next to B & H Wholesale on 7th Street. Goodness gracious, there's quite a number of flavors and sizes to choose. Naturally in NM there's Red Chile, Green Chile and Christmas flavored corn. I saw caramel, White Cheddar, Butter Rum, Cinnamon, Chicago mix, green apple, cherry and more. However, you can never go wrong with just plain old-fashioned butter popcorn. Please give Popcorn Cannery a try. read more

Locally owned and operated, these guys have been popping the goods since 1981and pop over 400 pounds of raw corn an hour. They offer fundraising opportunities and educational tours to groups of 10-30 people where you can get a behind the scenes look at how it all goes down. Cool!!! The staff is mahvelous, sooooo super friendly, busting out the samples of chocolate covered popcorn and chatting it up while you take it all in. What a great place for gifts everyone loves. This place has become an easy go to for me to get stocking stuffers or Easter baskets. The little kids love the Carmel corn rabbits and the flavored corn is perfect the older kids. I can get my lost done for under $40. The friendly staff help make this place over the top. Go ahead, press your face up against the window in the lobby to witness mass popcorn manufactury in all its aromatic glory; If you're lucky, Bonnie will be behind the counter ready with stories and snack-sized tasting portions of their 12 or so flavors, many of which have been developed at the behest of local customers. Don't worry about the (nonexistent) wait; their "Now Serving" ticket system's been stuck on #1 for years, and it's easy to imagine you're the first to discover this wonder--Buffett insisted on word-of-mouth as the primary advertising strategy, and their FB page doesn't give anything away. A few dollars nets jewels like the Christmas Mix (yep, a red-&-green chile flavored blend), Bacon Cheese (!!), Jalapeño, and more traditional fare like Kettle Corn and Cheddar. They offer group tours with tastings, and distribute across the Southwest and even into Alaska--so you know they've gotta have something tasty on their hands. DISAPPOINTED The quality has gone down, but the prices have gone up. I bought this as a Valentine's gift for my love. What an embarrassment to give what tastes like a bag of something you would buy at a gas station. We used to love the buttery richness of their caramel pecan popcorn. No more. It's obvious that they're not using butter. It tastes like a box of Cracker Jack. I'll just save my money and buy a box of Fiddle Faddle at the Dollar store. I suggest you do the same. read more

We first tried their popcorn, believe it or not at a beer tasting. The brewery actually paired a few of the flavored popcorn with their beer. So during this visit we came in to try and purchase some for ourselves. The building outside and inside is old school which definitely gives it charm. Upon entering you see all the popcorn flavors offered and a window to view the making operation. This place is legit!!! The women behind the counter were super helpful and offered samples and shared the company story. And as a bonus they sell some Buffett Candy as well. We bought several flavors to try and I can't wait to try them all. read more

Great popcorn, ready made, in huge yellow bags, at Albertson's. Just right salt and just right butter. Great road munchie, TV munchie, reading a book munchie, anything needing munchies will benefit from this popcorn. I might give it five stars if it was being made by them in my kitchen of if I could get several of the wonderful flavors mentioned on their website without a long drive. Better than peanuts. One bag will provide enough to share with the birds in the park or near a bus bench or with your friend. Next time I'm in Albuquerque I'll go by their store and get some of the other flavors...yummy! read more
