Just purchased a home and was getting a snow job from all the pool service guys, The owner at the pool store was very helpful, She educated me on how to maintain my waterfall. I walked away having knowledge of how to maintain my waterfall and how to take corrective action when warranted. Saved several hundred dollars in waterfall maintenance. Jack H La Quinta read more

The Pool Store - Outside - Hot Tub & Pool Near Me - La Quinta, California

Yesterday was our first visit to The Pool Store to pick up some chlorine tablets for a neighbor who was out of town. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman and he helped us find the tablets that we needed. I spotted a cute battery operated fish swimming toy which I inquired about if it was fun for kids, and he was enthusiastic about this $24 toy so we added it to our purchase. Without asking, he threw in a discount which was unexpected. Who does that?!!! There was another gentleman there that he was helping who praised the sales guy and said he's been shopping there for years and trusted them completely. Just an overall really great customer service experience which is not easy to come by in this day and age. We love shopping local, so if we need anything for our pool this will be our first stop! read more

Alex is very knowledgeable and helped us diagnose our 3 year old pool cleaner. He gave us options and we chose to purchase a new cleaner because a) the sand and sun in this environment are brutal and b) we got three years out of our old one which had been repaired twice and c) buying new gave us a new warranty and it's worth having a spotless pool. This store is stocked full of awesome pool toys and accessories and as always, their service has been great and there has never been any pressure or upselling, and that's why we support businesses like this. read more

Alex knows his stuff. Have been here a few times with help for our above ground pool for the kids. He's on top of it. Quick in and out. Prices are decent for chemicals. Thanks Alex read more

Staff in the store was very helpful and they have a huge selection of toys and accessories for the pool. Every time I go into the store I always spend money! read more

I would give negative stars if possible. The guy behind the counter could not be more rude or discourteous as well as NO customer service. I would prefer drowning or going without pool supplies before stepping in that store again. Folks, there are lots of options in the desert for pool supplies. Swim fast away from this place. read more

Thank You Pool Store! Just wanted to write a quick note thanking you guys for taking care of us over 4th of July weekend. We rented a home and the pool equipment started to give out, the property management company couldn't send anyone out until Monday. We called The Pool Store, they were able to diagnose the problem over the phone, had the parts on hand and walked us through the repair to do ourselves, the guy behind the counter, Alex, saved the weekend! The pool store is by far the worst small business in the desert I have ever done business with the 2 employees behind the counter will start off very nice so usually you buy something which I did it was not cheap however when you come back with the item you purchased because it's not working forget about it the rudeness was off the scale and yes you're on your own even with a warranty I have never yelped a business before but I don't other people to be fooled and spend money at the pool store and feel taken read more

They have inventory if you need something in a pinch, but it's not worth it. Prices are over double of what you can find on Amazon. Plus, no returns. I like to support local business, but not when they're gouging me like that and won't even a accept returns. read more

Would give zero stars if possible. Have supported this local business for years, purchasing all supplies, chemicals and equipment, paying higher prices to support local business instead of "impersonal" online vendors. NEVER AGAIN. Our intellichlor I60 only had 40% life left and was acting glitchy. Since we were going out of town, we decided to act preemptively and purchase a new one. Called The Pool Store and they quoted me $1100 for an I60. When I got there, they said he had been wrong and it was $1500, but inventory was low and he said it was the only unit in the valley. Ugh. I accepted their mistake, and purchased the generator for $1518.10. This was 6/10/22. Installed on 6/11/22. It was a straight replacement, super easy, just replace old with new. The new one wouldn't start up. Just a red light (low salt/system off). Would not turn on. Salt level was 3600 ppm (ideal). Added salt, just to make sure. Got up to 4,200, still no response from generator AT ALL. I took it back off, and put the old one back on . Immediately started up, and worked, generating chlorine. I videoed this whole thing. Boxed the brand new I60 back up, and took it to store, with receipt and video of what happened. Employee could not care less. Said they wouldn't take it back, said my pool needed over $100 more of chemicals. I asked why the old one would work, and he had no idea. Said I had to pursue with Pentair. What is the point of BUYING LOCAL, if the business does not stand behind defective materials/products??!! I understand if I had used it for months, or even weeks and then tried to return, but it's BRAND NEW and DEFECTIVE. Never worked, out of the box. I'm disgusted and disappointed that a business that I've supported and recommended to others for years, is this callous and not helpful at all. I recommend buying ANYWHERE else or online. I've been on hold with Pentair 2 hours and 20 minutes now. If I would have bought on amazon, I could have packaged it up and been done by now. BUYER BEWARE. DO NOT SHOP at THE POOL STORE- La Quinta. read more

Very friendly and knowledgeable on products. They are reasonably priced (much lower then the comp.)

Stay away. I bought a rebel pool cleaner. It was recommended by the staff. I was told that I could return it if it did work. I bought this item is March 26. after 2 months finally made the trip to return or exchange the item for the more expensive Polaris. They refused to exchange or provide store credit. Save your time and money. in addition, the employees. Really didn't try resolve the problem. Alex made a call to the person in charge. Saying he did not want to accept the return. He then offered less than half of what I paid for it. Then the supervisor Dominic spoke to me, who was equally worthless. read more

went to the Pool Store today 6/6/20 to get prices on A Jandy valve actuator part #SKU 4424 was told it was $347.00 and a Hayward flow switch # GLX-FLO-RP and was told it was $140.00 by the owner. you can buy them on line for $148.94 for the Jandy valve actuator part # SKU4424 and $32.00 for the switch. plus free shipping and 2 day service. I will never go back in to this store again. Dan read more

I purchased A large pool float for $119.95. When I removed it from the box I saw a large hole in the plastic and returned it to the store. I was waited on by Alex who was quite rude and informed me all purchases are final. He was curt and very unhelpful and told me it was not their problem. I contacted the manufacturer who eventually replaced the original after a few emails and several photographs. Swimline, the manufacture, informed me that their floats are guaranteed. I would think that an employee of this store would have known, could have been supportive, reassuring and guided me in the right direction in resolution of the problem. Rather than help from this store and it's employee I was treated quite rudely and without any consideration. Find another pool store. There is one on an opposite corner. read more

I will never go back there again! I had an issue with Pentair salt chlorine generator. They recommended replacing it without offering to send a tech to check it out. So I bought the unit for $1000.00!! I called Pentair to double check on the issue and they resolved it over the phone. I went to return the unit in 2 days having never opened the box. They refused saying they have a no return policy which is in small print on the receipt but never told me when I made the purchase. They are are a Pentair distributor and warrant service provider. Extremely rude people. We went into the store to find a neutral ph solution and asked the the older man if they had any and he said they did not have any ph meters or solution even though we bought here one last week! This company is tied to a licensed pool contractor, Road Runner Pools. Between the two, their business model seem so be to take advantage of most customers and if you complain, ignore you since in a resort community there is always another new customer. I sent a letter of complaint that was well reasoned and thorough. It was sent back to me unopened. I became a lawyer in 1966. I know my rights (and yours) in both a retail setting and with a repair contractor. I tried to express my views without any threats. It was never looked at. The owner seems aloof from any information that she does not agree with. Buyer beware. Under the law you have lots of rights, but not with this retailer or its repair company, it seems to me. I am from a small town and always want to help keep a small company in business, but sometimes (seldom) there is an owner who is running a dictatorship. If you agree with her, fine. If not, she will not care nor listen. No one is right but her. Good luck. read more

Well, you lost ANOTHER customer! I can see why their Google review score is only 3.8. Your young help behind the counter is rude and not very helpful at all. Same problem as many of their 1 star reviews, I tried to return a float valve that leaked, my receipt that was dated four days past their two week return policy. I have dealt with Cindy in the past so I asked the young kid if he would call her to see if she would allow the exchange. He said "No she is busy and I am not going to bother her for that". I went across the street to LESLIE'S POOL SUPPLIES and bought another one for 30% less. read more

I really want to support local businesses, i really do, but places like this are the reason i find myself buying online for nearly everything. the prices here can be more than double what you find online. To not stand behind poor recomendations and defective items that cost far more than Amazon is just bad business. Im sorry but you have lost a customer. read more

They flatly refused to take it back , no credit even, nothing !. They told me it was explained to me when I bought it,which it absolutely was not . Stay well away from this place. I have used RR pools for 4 years. I don't know why I waited to fire them but I did today. Over the years I have gone without service many times and had to call to get my pool cleaned. The owner has no interest in making any concessions for the lack of service. on March 18 2021The wind was blowing and the pool was very dirty, they finally came to clean it 2 days after my scheduled cleaning early this morning. I went out to check the pool and it had debris floating and dirt on the bottom. I called and spoke with the owner, she started to make excuses about the wind, I informed her that she had promised me it would be cleaned the next day and it was not. I will not bore you with all of the mishaps, I will suggest you find another pool service this one has no integrity. Needles to say it has been a very trying 4 years and I wanted to give them all of the chances I could, they just don't care. Sincerely ZC read more

Cindy, the owner KNOWS pools. You can trust her advice. If you have a pool cleaner do yourself a favor take a sample of your pool water to The Pool Store and have Cindy or one of her employees test it. If your pool cleaner is doing his or her job the chemistry will come out right. If not get rid of them fast or suffer the consequences like I did. Black, yellow and green algae. Unhealthy water, ruined filters, corroded pipes, damaged equipment, stained pool walls and having to spend a lot of money fixing other unskilled and unknowledgeable pool cleaner's messes. read more

Very happy -- needed a hot surface igniter for our heater as we had family visiting and wanted them to be able to use the pool and spa. Leslie didn't have any in stock and said it would be a couple days to get it due to the holiday and weekend (and they said no of their locations in the valley had it either). The Pool Store had 3 on the shelf so we shot over there, picked one up, and were back home warming up the water in no time. Might have saved a couple bucks buying online but their price was still more reasonable then Leslie and we were glad to pay it and have it in hand immediately so our guests could enjoy themselves. Thanks!! read more

Helpful and professional. I bring my pool questions here, and I never feel like I'm being upsold.

Went in there for some advice about my pool water having algae and cloudy water, the guy just looked at me like a deer in the headlights. He had no clue on how to assist me with any helpful pleasant advice. He asked me what I have been adding to pool and made me feel stupid because I didn't know the numbers from the sample tests. Another guy walked up and asked some questions at least and acted like he wanted to help me. He suggested some algaecide and sent me on my way with a $26.00 bill. I feel their customer service sucks and they are ill educated on pool chemistry as I am!
