The ladies in the office - Joanna and Lauren - have you ever had to deal with your town on a project? I have never had the pleasure (insert sarcasm). I left town hall crying on more than one occasion... and all it took to calm my fears was one call to the office and everything was handled in an instant. These two fabulous women are the heartbeat of the company for sure. Excavation and soil removal team. On day one of our project... the coolest cats in the biz showed up at our home... EARLY... and went about their task seamlessly. When you have someone fondly nicknamed "Crazy Eddie" with a giant machine in your back yard digging a giant hole, you may worry. Not with these guys. They did minimal (necessary) damage to our property - which is to be expected when hauling 17 full dump trucks of dirt. They dug our pool exactly to specification with razor precision. The men who built the foundation for our pool (Chino and his team) were nothing short of amazing. Working for HOURS nonstop in the blazing July heat - never complaining... it was a sight to behold! I was greeted each day with smiling faces and was kept informed during the process... always knowing what was coming next. The frame arrived and Chino and his crew put together a pool like it was a set of Legos!! Walls went up, were screwed in and we were ready for our liner!! Our liner... Joanna sent us a link to choose our liner. We had our liner all selected - we had a "look" in mind. We showed our choice to Chris and he told us that the liner we chose was not going to work with our vision. He suggested another and showed us completed pools with that liner in place. BOY was he right. Our pool SHIMMERS!! It's GORGEOUS!!! Liner arrives... Chino installs it in 15.2 seconds (perfectly) and 7 seconds after that - the WaterMan arrives. Here is another example of Chris surrounding himself with the best. John and his son arrived with beautiful crystal clear water that was NOT overpriced... just in time for a 100 degree day! Three truckloads later and our pool was full :) James the electrician is now our friend AND we will never use anyone else for electric work in our home. James worked tirelessly to make sure the specifications for our electric to our pool was impeccable. He even calmed down a very cranky (shocker) town inspector... who was complaining about work from a completely different electric contractor that was not up to code. James fixed the shoddy work performed by someone else at no cost. Saved the best for last... DON. The icing on the cake. Don came to show us how to work EVERYTHING on our pool. Entertaining and educational at the same time, I am now a PRO at all things related to our pool. I am not mechanical, but I can take care of my investment with ease, knowing that if I get confused I can hop online for a tutorial or on the phone and get the team of professionals at the Pool Boss to help in an instant. I don't normally post reviews. However, my experience with the Pool Boss has been so amazing that I felt compelled to share my thoughts. Let me start by saying that we have a very small yard and adding a pool was no small challenge. I was aware that we were over our township defined lot coverage allowance and I thought that the only way to add a pool was to get a variance. Not only would a variance take a long time to get, but approval is not guaranteed and would have added an additional expense on top of this project. I met with two other pool contractors before contacting the Pool Boss. Both of these contractors said that we would need a variance or elect to have a smaller pool than we wanted. Then cam the Pool Boss and their amazing team. From the first contact with Terry, she made me feel at ease and I knew right away that I contacted the right people. Terry did not push us one bit and suggested we speak with one of their contacts that would figure out whether we needed a variance or not. Long story short, the Pool Boss was able to figure out how to build us a pool with a size we were comfortable with and all without needing a variance. I felt relieved to say the least. Next, I met at the property with Chris. Chris is amazing and gave me some helpful advice on the pool configuration. Not once did he try to up-sell me on anything and in fact, I believe that our original configuration may have cost us a bit more. Chris knows his craft and it was refreshing to meet with a contractor that cares more about the actual product than his own bottom line. From that point, we signed a contract and the Pool Boss took over. They dealt with the town in getting the permit and our town is not exactly the easiest to get permits from. The level of communication we received was nothing short of amazing. They answered every single email I sent them and most, usually, within a very short time. They would email and text us regarding appointments always letting us know who was coming to our house, when, and for what specific purpose. All of their technicians treated our home with respect. Their shining star is their offsite project manager Joanna. Joanna is attentive, professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and responsive. She can teach a course in customer service for sure. I am someone that asks a lot of questions and never once did I feel that my questions were unwanted. I have enjoyed dealing with Joanna so much that I will miss her now that our project is starting to wrap up. In sum, there really isn't a better pool contractor out there than the Pool Boss. I have heard nightmare stories from other people telling me their project was put on hold for months after the initial excavation took place. The Pool Boss gave us a timeline of what to expect and how long it would take. Although they will tell you that they will do their best to meet the deadlines, they hit our expected timeframe on the nose. The Pool Boss takes the stress out of what can be a very stressful pool building process. After reading all the horror stories online of some pool building experiences, my wife and I were extremely nervous to take the plunge into building our own backyard oasis. From the first time we met Chris, we knew he was the one we wanted to build our pool for us. He was extremely knowledgeable and had a game plan of what we should do, and of course what our town would allow us to do in our backyard. His suggestions and ideas started to put us at ease right away. Our project definitely was not a cookie cutter pool that he was going to be building. When he first walked into our backyard all he saw was the tree filled sloped rear part of our yard right behind a retaining wall, that lead up to a town house community that resides just past our property line. He originally assumed we were putting the pool into the nice flat grassed portion of our yard, but that was not the vision that we had. Once we explained it to him, he was able to start seeing it too and within minutes the plan started coming together. The Pool Boss's top notch design team was able to map out the design for us and we were on our way! The design team was extremely hard working and very flexible with us when it came to our design. Once the design was completed, the process was seamless all the way through the build stage. When working with The Pool Boss, you have an on-site and also an off-site project manager that you are communicating with constantly. They work together to always keep you informed of what the next steps are, who is going to be on your property, and what days/times they will be there. This takes a lot of the unknowns out of the project that we have read about online with other pool builders. We never had to worry if or when someone was coming to work on the project each day. We also had a good idea of when the project would be completed as soon as they showed up for our dig day. Once our pool was completed, we received a very informative tutorial of everything that we needed to know in order to properly care for our pool. This was extremely helpful as first time pool owners. At this tutorial, the valet service was mentioned to us. This is a service that The Pool Boss provides so they can assist with the caring for your pool through-out the summer. We quickly saw this to be a great benefit and we signed up for it right away. With 20 years of experience in the Northern New Jersey custom luxury market as the founder of Plan Architecture, I've worked with several teams over the years and I had made a very early decision to work with The Pool Boss - essentially prior to even having the property to do so! I needed new lines, new skimmers, new returns, a new filter, essentially a total rip up. A project of this magnitude can be intimidating. My wife and I had been discussing whether or not to take on the pool project for a very long time; cost, size, location, placement all factors that seemed way too overwhelming and so we just kept putting it off. We met The Pool Boss and shared all of our concerns. Chris's demeanor and calm approach toward our questions made us not only comfortable but invigorated our interest in taking on the project, within days he had a plan and a proposal in place that made everything easy for us, he took care of everything. Our project had some challenges primarily because we had to relocate seepage pits, a complexity they required involving town engineers but with The Pool Boss on our side everything was resolved timely with no issues. Installing an inground pool is a huge undertaking- it's a months-long process, with unexpected bumps along the way, tons of stress and no small expense so I am SO GLAD I chose The Pool Boss. Chris impressed me from the very first meeting- how many contractors have you had show up EXACTLY on time? He was friendly, extremely knowledgeable and very professional and his entire team from start to finish was the same. I was told what to expect- and some ballpark estimates of the total cost of the project- with the very first email. Kim was wonderful during the design process, they took care of getting all the permits from the township, and then Dan and Gennaro were my installation team. I cannot say enough good things about Dan. He is a problem solver through and through- any time I would start to get nervous about anything, if I talked to Dan I was immediately reassured that he was going to make sure it got taken care of. He really cares about his clients, he made me feel like a friend. After an unfortunately-timed torrential downpour right after the pool was being filled for the first time washed a ton of new topsoil into the pool- turning it into a pond- Dan came to the house at 7 a.m. to give me an emergency tutorial on how to get it clean again. Gennaro always seemed to be on-call, answering emails sent by us very late at night or on weekends. They are a fantastic team. The backyard has been transformed, I have been swimming every day since the first week of May, and if you are thinking about getting a pool you can't do better than hiring The Pool Boss. When we decided to put an inground pool in our yard we knew we'd have to conduct thorough due diligence and after speaking with four pool contractors, the choice was clear - The Pool Boss! From the initial onsite meeting with Chris (the owner) through design, and then execution, every member of The Pool Boss team was exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable, professional and communicated in a timely and extremely organized fashion. We have a mature landscape with an existing patio and many established beds and mature trees that we didn't want to disturb. They are responsive, reliable and such a pleasure to work with. We had such an amazing experience from start to finish. They transformed our backyard into a dream vacation spot. The pool design is absolutely beautiful. We have a cool sundeck that we use all the time in the shallow end and a long bench in the deep end which everyone loves! We were completely amazed the first day of our installation and how fast the pool was installed. Chris showed up and stayed the entire day, guiding his team and ensuring everything was just perfect. He is a true professional, very helpful and really cares about his customers. We have been using the weekly valet service every week to clean our pool. I definitely recommend signing up for the weekly valet. It's worth every penny. The technician that maintains our pool is also so professional, and friendly. He's one of our favorites! He does such a thorough job every time he cleans our pool and doesn't leave until our pool is crystal clear! I also recommend an automatic pool cover. We did not purchase one which we regret. It's an added cost but would be worth it. It's great for safety if you have children and if it rains your pool will stay protected and clean! After finally purchasing our "forever home" and completing all of our interior work, the only project that remained was installing our in-ground pool. We had several pool companies come in for estimates, but after one meeting with Chris A. from The Pool Boss, we knew he was the right man for the job! Chris thoroughly outlined and explained all of the considerations and implications, leaving no detail uncovered. He was patient and responsive as we waivered back and forth on several of the details, offering suggestions and recommendations to help ensure the execution met our intention. Once settled in on all of the details, the team began work quickly and efficiently. Chris went the extra mile to research with the town a rumored potential issue (car buried in an abandoned in-ground pool in the yard), and when he inevitably found that the rumors were true, he quickly recommended and carried out a plan to address as if it were your standard, run-of-the-mill occurrence. While many companies will cash that final check upon completion and you will never hear from them again, The Pool Boss has remained in contact ever since completing the project. Any time there has been any kind of issue whatsoever (LED bulb issues, filter problems, liner hole), Terry, Joanna, and the team spring into action and have never left an issue unresolved.
