What a great Italian restaurant. Good: The pizza - this was as fine a pizza as I have had in years. Crust was just the right amount of char, the ingredients are fresh, flavorful. A lot of love goes into it and this is a very well made pizza. Service - warm and friendly. Our waitress (Francesca) took great care of us. Seemed to know all the other customers, this is definitely a family and neighborhood place. Large table next to us with kids. Very authentic vibe. Beverages - Besides the big, expected Italian beer brand, they had a couple smaller Italian breweries you don't see much in the USA. Nice touch, shows they really put work into making the place authentic. Dessert - had a lemon tiramisu that was almost dangerously good, not overly sweet, nice cream texture, balanced, just really recommend you try. Atmosphere - Had nice outdoor patio dining which was very pleasant. Needs improvement The salads - With so much care in the main courses, the salads seemed an afterthought. We had a Caesar and an arugula salad and both were so-so, but compared to how much care went into the other items, they should have been better. The Caesar at Nemec Bros much better, for instance (although we all agreed we prefer P&M overall because the pizza was just so good). Overall - this is an excellent Italian restaurant and we will be going back again any time we are in the area. You will be very happy if you choose to eat here. read more

We had an exceptional dinner at Pomodoro E Mozzarella on Main Street in Saint Charles, Illinois. This is a small restaurant which can be easily overlooked located in a strip mall. As we are finishing up 16 months of weekly dining down and now up Main Street in Saint Charles, Illinois, we were pleasantly surprised to find an extensive Italian menu at Pomodoro E Mozzarella. We enjoyed glasses of wine, two servings of the Lobster Ravioli, Homemade Bread, Garlic Bread, an appetizer of Grilled Calamari, and a pasta dish of Gnocchi Casa Mia. All of the meals were served hot and were absolutely delicious. There is limited seating in a beautifully decorated dining space. We're thinking the majority of orders are takeout as we also observed line of people coming and going during our dinner. The service was excellent, very personable. We were a bit surprised when we requested water with our meal and received bottled water for a charge. Overall , an excellent dining experience, and we will definitely return for takeout, if not a dining in, in the future. This is a real gem in our community! read more

Wanted to try their highly recommended Margherita Pizza. Glad we did. The tomato sauce is the perfect mix of tang and sweet. Several generous slices of cheese were complemented by the shredded Basil. I tried Pomodoro E Mozzarella and wasn't impressed. Reviews are really good, so I'm hoping this might have just been an off night. I ordered 2 thin crust pizzas (sausage and plain cheese). I picked it up right as it was ready to go and both people working were pleasant. Before I review the food, I will say the restaurant is really suited more for carry out than eating in. There were 4 or 5 tables packed tightly just inside the entry. Not only is it awkward for people coming in, but the people that were seated had to deal with people standing over them as they were waiting for their carry out orders. I saw more than a few looks of annoyance. Might be better if they removed the table right in the middle of the space and kept just a few on the walls. Other than being poorly laid out, the inside was bright and clean. There are tables outdoors, but those are only useful during our warm months. The food: Both pizzas had a nice crust (square cut). The dough in the center was gummy and not crisp like the edges. Sausage pizza: sausage needed more fennel and salt. The pizza was piping hot and cheese was a bit too greasy, but nice and stretchy. Sauce was missing salt and really wasn't too flavorful overall. Cheese pizza: same crust and sauce situation, but this pizza was only lukewarm. I'm thinking the cheese pizza was sitting out while the sausage and others cooked. I rate this as average pizza when compared to other independently owned/operated places. Pizza prices were lower and more realistic than others in the area. I may try them out again, but not until I get through some of the other restaurants in the area. read more

The food here is amazing! Fresh, homemade on the spot, simply delicious! Started with the Fried Ravioli. Large fresh raviolis served with marinara sauce, done perfect. We had the Salsiccia E Funghi pizza, sausage and mushroom. Wow, really really good with fresh ingredients. We ordered a 10" Pomodoro Italiano to go. Some Italian sausage, hot giardiniera, Italian beef and mozzarella. A perfectly matched mix of flavors without being overly hot, and we don't mind heat. Rose and Joe are so kind and caring!! So why not 5 stars? They REALLY need a bigger restaurant! They have a gold mine here! Sitting at a table it gets quite cramped with customers coming and going to get their pick-up orders. Poor Rose was busting her butt trying to take care of tables, answering the phone and helping those who came in for orders placed. Joe was hustling in the back cooking food, he was just as busy. Their son finally showed up to help out, what a nice young man he is! We will definitely go back but probably for carry-out. read more

My wife and I have ordered takeout for the last couple months, but today we were craving pizza, so we ordered a medium mushroom pepperoni and tomato pizza. Last time we ate in our car. But today we are able to enjoy our pizza outside under the sunshade they put up. Say yes to the pizza! First, it is much smaller than you think it is. But I have been here twice and was able to find a seat right away in both times. Both of my visits I had different excerience, service wise. First one was excelent, nice Italian lady came to us, served, and checked on us. Second time I had to approached the gentleman at the register because nobody came over or said anything and we were the only ones there and table was dirty. We were kind Of being forgotten and we were the only ones inside. But they get a 4 star for the Pizza! I had the shrimp artisan pizza both times. It has garlic and it is amazing. I also tried margherita pizza and regular thin crust with veggies. Both were amazing as well. Vegetables were fresh and the crust is sooo good. Also, I tried calamari and mozerella sticks , they were good but next time I will just go for the pizza! I will look over the weird awkward nonservice because of the food. We've returned to Pomodoro several times for carryout but waited to post an update review. I can now say this is one of our favorite establishments. The food is insanely well made, and the people who work there are quite friendly. We did receive the credit for the missed arancinis, which helped ease our discomfort. We've ordered this to share with our in-laws and they loved it. The pizzas are handmade and have a crackly, bubble crust that is unmatched in this area. The ingredients are excellent quality, fresh, and abundant. We always get the Ai Spinacci pizza with sausage and spinach - it's fabulous! Even the kids eat their greens when we get it. I'm obsessed with the Tortellini alla Panna, which to me is basically comfort food perfection. Huge chunks of ham, mushrooms, and sweet peas dotted throughout a rich, creamy sauce and cheesy, pillowy tortellini. We've had other pizzas and pastas and they've been wonderful. You can't go wrong! This is a local family business that deserves the community support-they are providing a unique, high-quality food service. read more

Stopped in to pickup a chicken parmigiana sandwich today to go. As soon as you walk in, the aroma hits you and it's wonderful. First off I have been there several times for the pizza which is decent. This recent visit however was absolutely a terrible experience from the beginning. Started off the gentleman was very rude when on the phone. Kept rushing me after ordering $200 of food and he kept cutting me off and would let me finish. When I received the food and there were things missing. The food was bland tasting. No flavor. Eggplant was as thin as a piece of paper. The chicken Parmesan was as dry as a piece of leather. Even the garlic bread was inedible. Like it was stale. Will never go there again. Hope this helps others. read more
