Here on business from California for me of course my first stop was gonna be a deep dish pizza. Giordano's address above was on point years ago I tried Lou Malnati's It was good but GIORDANO's is GREAT! Pete own is down to earth, I will definitely return to try other items on their menu. One of my must go to places when visiting Chicago. There's many different locations but this one is close to my in-laws home. I usually come to togo since it takes a while to make so calling ahead and picking up works best for me. I also like to come in a few days before I leave so I can pre order a few pizzas to be made and frozen so I can take back home with me on the plane. You can get some cold bags at the dollar tree near by and place them in there. It stays pretty solid frozen till I arrive back home and heats up perfectly whenever I'm ready to eat! read more

Start your adventure walking through a revolving front door. It was a Tuesday night, so they were pretty slow, but the host was on point. Ceaser salad was great. I asked if they made their own dressing and was told that they did. So, if this is true, it's a good job. Ordered the deep-dish pizza and it was really delicious. Would recommend for a nice Chicago-style example. The pizza crust was crunchy, but not burnt, with even heat throughout and the server served my first piece and boxed the leftovers for me. In town for family matters and after a long exhausting day I wanted a Chicago deep dish pizza. This place is close to my hotel so I ordered a personal deep dish with pepperoni for pick up online. I ordered extra ranch which was some crazy extra charge but ok. I asked for plates and napkins. When I picked it up, I was given my pizza and asked if I had ordered anything else. Oh right the ranch. I felt awkward and I wanted to leave so I forgot the plates and napkins. Soon as I got to my room, I was in need of them. I ate one piece only as I wasn't impressed much. I ordered a delivery party pack, large thin crust sausage and cheese, personal deep dish, two orders wings and cookies. The delivery was 20 min late with the pizzas arriving cold. The wings were not delivered. I called and they apologized and delivered the wings about 20 min later..... to my neighbors house. They called me to check up, which I informed them the wings never came. The wings finally arrived all shriveled up like they were yesterday's batch. A comedy of errors. Very disappointing. read more

My personal favorite Chicago deep dish establishment! I eat any Giordano's any time I can in Chicago. The one in St . Charles is in a shopping center but still brings all the taste and nostalgia of the original. Don't be fooled my the outside. My favorite is to order extra garlic, to die for. This is a great pizza place to try deep dish pizza, one of the icons of Chicago. I ordered the spinach deep dish as well as the cheesy garlic bread. This was a great appetizer and main course combo! I would definitely recommend stopping by and the pricing is pretty reasonable for deep dish. The only issue we had was timing and that we had to go check to get a waiter after being seated. read more

Eat at the St Charles location. Frankly I have stayed away from the deep dish here as I felt burnt out. So went with the thin crust. Have been for the last few years and while it's not all that thin it is seriously tasty. The amount of cheese on the pizza alone is worth it. So I initially stated we were over deep dish here and while I think my fav deep dish is elsewhere had the deep dish (stuffed) whatever it's called here last week and thought this is way better than I remember. So go for either or both but you should go. read more

Deep dish tasted freezer burnt. Thin crust was thick and also freezer burnt. Delivery 20 minutes late. Used promo code for Pepsi products, paid money and didn't get Pepsi products and charged extra. I was very disappointed with the service and although I called ahead of time to have the deep dish pizza so it was ready when we arrived but when we got there the pizza was cold. Very disappointed because thought we were being proactive by ordering early and not having to wait too long for the pizza. Also, the women's bathroom had no toilet paper and when asked for a refill they said they were busy earlier in the day. We've been coming to this Giordano's for years. The pizza is consistently great - thick or thin crust. The salad with the fennel shavings is really good and we enjoy many of the appetizers. The service is friendly and efficient. And it's a comfortable, welcoming place. We'll keep coming back. read more

We had a great dining experience at Giordano's in Saint Charles. The dining room was busy, but not loud, allowing us to have a good conversation. The menu had many options including gluten free options and a vegan spaghetti dish. We had individual deep dish pizzas and an order of Garlic Parmesan Fries. The deep dish pizza and the fries were superb. It was nice to get an individual deep pizza for a very reasonable price. The server was very attentive, checking back several times to make sure everything was good. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated, more of an upscale pizza place. It was well-maintained and very clean. When you walked into the restaurant, there was a sign indicating they had an exceptionally good air filtration system. We will definitely return! read more

We came here at 7:15 and were greeted at the door with "we close at 8." There was a huge party going on, and we were sat right next to them while the other part of the restaurant was wide open. The food was fine, pizza was good, but they forgot to bring out my meal. When I asked about it, there was no apology. I had her box it up since we had to be out of there by 8. There were glass shards in our leftovers. I don't understand what happened. I noticed no issues when we were served the pizza in the restaurant, but maybe it was just in a few pieces the whole time and we happened to not eat them, or the glass was so small that we did eat it and didn't realize it, or something happened when the leftovers were boxed for us. It's sad because the pizza was great. The server was great. We had half a pizza left over that was brought to their kitchen and boxed. If I could give my experience more than five stars, I certainly would without hesitation. In fact, I would like to call specific attention to the manager of this store, Jackson Layne. While he is far too humble to admit it and therefore I doubt he receives all the credit and praise that he is due, Jack is absolutely exceptional at his job in a way that is beyond rare to see these days. He not only tirelessly runs the store with the utmost efficiency and dazzles all the customers with the most sophisticated charm, but also shows immense kindness and grace toward his fellow employees and is impressively brilliant at managing conflict. Just the other day, the most unpleasant of women stormed into the store, upset about the most minuscule mishap in her order, and probably the direction her life is headed as well, that she went off on Jack Layne, spouting the most unbecoming of curses at a terrifying volume and tone. During this lengthy display of a gross lack of class, Jack remained calm, cool, and collected and did not retaliate, but rather confidently stood his ground. He apologized for the mistake in her order, remedied it promptly, and showed remarkable restraint in not giving her the aggressive response she was clearly hoping to draw out of him. In clear frustration and disappointment, the unsavory woman began to angrily snatch up her pizza, but suddenly burst into tears. Instead of leaving her to bask in her humiliation in the middle of the crowded store, Jack instead gave her the kindest and most comforting of hugs, and it was as if one could literally see the almost immediate softening of her heart. I would like to praise Jack Layne for his exemplary display of wisdom, patience, kindness, and professionalism. This is my favorite pizza joint hands down; though I have friends from NY who differ; it's always a good rivalry conversation. You can't go wrong with their stuffed pizza. My favorite is their Fresh Spinach stuffed pizza. For those who don't like veggies, you'll love this one! Their staff is always kind and helpful. I've had pizza sent to family out of state and it was happily received and in good condition. Was worried about that. My cousin inquired on a t-shirt she saw at the Chicago location and they had some in stock for purchase at another location we visited. The worst. I've been waiting for my food after calling 6 hours in advance and preordering 1 hour in advance. When we arrived they said they didn't have my order. When I asked for a manager he was unapologetic and gave me an attitude. I understand it's not an easy job however customer service is a must in the service business. Poor customer service yesterday from this location! I purchased lunch for a customer of mine as a service gesture. The wrong pizza was delivered. Fine, they made a mistake and added 20 minutes to the redelivery time. When I called to ask that they send a fresh 6 piece wings, as well, (because the original order would be cold), the woman answering the phone (didn't catch her name, but she has an accent) was extremely rude, refused, said there was no manager on duty to authorize that, she said I'd have to call the owner who wasn't there, etc. When I insisted (because it was for a client and not myself) she said "Okay, fine!" and hung up on me! We order quite a lot of carry out for our team and for clients...I won't be doing so from Giordano's ever again. Great place for dinner! During this season of Covid 19 there are many places where service leaves a lot to be desired. We were well taken care of and the staff was very attentive. The food was delicious and everyone in the family had a great time. They even made my wife coffee (an item not on the menu) just because she had inquired if they served coffee. Ordered at 5:45 pm with a girl who talked so softly and slowly, I wondered why did she pick to take pizza orders as a job. After 1 hour and 30 minutes later STILL WAITING for 2 pizzas and a salad with no explanation my husband starts questioning the owner and instead of rectifying the situation he decides to lie and would not admit that the pizza was in another customers order. I ordered an extra large double cheese, double sausage, mushroom, artichoke and banana peppers pizza and calamari. I placed an order online on their website. On their site, there is a box that says "Order Comments." I. The box I wrote (verbatim) "PLEASE DO NOT PUT PEPPERONI UNDER THE CHEESE. I got home after spending more than $81 on pizza only to find that they didn't follow my instructions. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Why the hell do they put pepperoni under the cheese anyway? First time in IL, first time having deep-dish pizza. It was a let down unfortunately. We had a big group together and ordered all types of deep-dish pizza. I found the pizza to be like pizza hut quality pizza. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good, but I've definitely had better pizza. The dough was too doughy, almost like it wasn't cooked through well. Maybe we had too big of a group, but still. We also ordered the calamari and that was my favorite thing of the night. I also didn't think the cannoli's were very good, the shell was so hard and crusty. A real 2/5 experience on my part. Hope the next time I have deep-dish it'll be better. read more

Brothers Efren and Joseph Boglio were born in a small town near Turin, Italy. The brothers first immigrated to Argentina and subsequently to the US. Upon arriving in America, Efren began working at a pizzeria in Chicago, but he was not satisfied with the pizzas he tasted and decided to open his own restaurant, Roma. When Joseph came to Chicago, Efren has stated they decided to open a restaurant using their old family recipes and after experimenting over several months developed the stuffed pizza, finding Giordano's in 1974. A couple owners and one bankruptcy later, Giordanos is prospering and on a tear to expand nationwide, and have opened restaurants outside of the Chicago area. Their specialty is "stuffed pizza" which is a form of deep dish, but unlike most of the chains "deep dish" that focus on way too much dough, the emphasis here is on quantity of ingredients and the sauce is always on top. We were at the St. Charles, IL location and served by Ilona. She did a great job, maintained her humor, despite (it seemed to me) having too many tables she was responsible for. We ordered the large stuffed, sausage only, and it was superb. The pizzas REALLY DO look like the ones in the TV commercials.You will be amazed by the cheese! We had friends coming in from Georgia who had heard of Chicago deep dish pizza, and really wanted to try it. I made a reservation 2-3 days ahead of time. Then even called day of to confirm. They literally said; "Oh, sure, come in any time'. We came in at the allotted hour and there were people waiting outside and in the foyer. I went up to the host desk and talked to a young man and told him about our reservation. He looked at me and said: I'll be right back. When he returned he just said flatly: " I don't have a table for you". (keep in mind there were MANY open tables, even with Covid. I saw about two tables actually seated.) I asked, "isn't there anything you can do?" He just looked at me. I was stunned - no apology, no "I'll find you an open table ASAP" or "We just had three servers call in sick and we're way backed up..." no apologetic behaviors at all. Just: I don't have a table for you... I think I asked him how long the wait would be and he said: "I have no idea. " Or maybe even : "We have a long wait now..." Anyway the whole experience was bizarre--it was like he just stared at me and literally wanted us to leave. It was unhelpful, embarrassing, weirdly rejecting and frankly quite maddening. I've never been treated like that before at a restaurant. My friend later told me: "I had to walk away or I would have unleashed on him." They even had our phone number and could have called us to save us the trip out to E. St. Charles...We would have understood that gesture and appreciated it as well. That kid is in the wrong job...and I will NOT go back to a Giordano's again if I can at all help it. The St. Charles restaurant is not going to last if that's how they treat people. read more
