Amazing from start to finish!! Had the sweet potato gnocchi and Italian sandwich with the sangria. Everything was super fresh and delicious! Staff was also very kind. Lastly, the musician on the patio set the best vibe. All around perfect! We became huge fans today and will be back soon.

Delicious toasted ravioli that is gluten and dairy free

Delicious food and most importantly toasted ravioli! The staff is friendly and customer centric. They have 501c3 to provide individuals in food deserts or Chicago with gluten free and dairy free meals. We drive from the STL and visited twice. We are definitely making the trek again in the future. Saturday on the patio was beautiful live music.

Tried this place. Pretty good! The store is very cute - lots of gluten free goodies, cooking materials, cookies/sweets, sauces, etc. Menu has sandwiches, pasta, etc. Numerous choices - you can pick the pasta type, sauce, and can add meats of different types. Also numerous sandwich types. I picked the haddock fried sandwich - pretty good, fresh. Came with chips and a pickle. They also have a fridge with a bunch of different drinks and they have homemade lemonade! Pretty awesome. Store is cute, clean, with lots of good stuff. A few seats in store. Parking in front. Would recommend!

Gluten-free sausage and sage fried ravioli with pesto

Homemade fresh gluten-free pasta! It's true, and it's so good. We stopped in for lunch after grocery shopping and tried the ravioli. You can get them boiled or fried--no brainer: fried, please! We ordered the mushroom with pesto and the sage and sausage with vegan Bolognese. Both were incredible! The vegan Bolognese--wow! It was a little thinner than what I'm used to, but the depth and richness of flavor were remarkable. It will be hard not to order it again on my next visit; it was that tasty. There are only three tables, but you can order online for takeout. The counter offers a selection of homemade items, and the store carries high-quality products. A must-try, even if you're not gluten-free or vegan, tucked into a cute little storefront in a charming area.

    Panini and fried ravioli

Our food was absolutely delicious. I had the panini- I'm not GF, but I couldn't tell it was GF bread. It was amazing. The tomato tasted home grown in April! My daughter got to try fried ravioli for the first time. We had the sausage and the pea filled. The ravioli and the sauces were just wonderful. We left completely stuffed and happy. I also bought a few interesting items from the shop that I can't wait to try.

We sat at the bar and the one bartender tried his best to keep up with the drink orders for the whole restaurant & the bar patrons drink & food orders. As we approached a wait of 1 hour & 35 minutes, we asked the bartender to have the meals placed in to go boxes. 10 more minutes go by without our meals and we asked to speak to a member of management. What was concerning was the restaurant manager on duty only came out when we requested to speak with a manager. In a calm tone, asked the manager on duty if a 1 hr 45 minute wait for our meals was reasonable. He tried to tell us that they were very busy and the kitchen was behind. Agreed. When asked if we should pay for a meal that was severely delayed he agreed the wait was excessive and he would cover the cost of the meal. I appreciate this reaction from the manager on duty. Unfortunately, when we took our meals to go, we didn't have a good experience with the meals. Received one chicken breast grilled and one breaded for the Portofino Pollo dish. Looked like they grabbed what was up at the time in the kitchen and placed it in the to go containers. Flavors were bland, likely a result of being rushed after a 1 hr 45 min wait. This might be coincidental but being short staffed at the Compton Hills location when they are opening a new location in Geneva is probably what led to the severe delays from the kitchen in servicing meals. Hope the opening of the Geneva location doesn't adversely impact the Campton Hills location beyond our dining visit experience. I gave a rating of 2 as the Manager on Duty did agree to cover the meal cost. The bartender tried to keep us from leaving by offering us a drink on the house to stay after we asked for the meals to be placed in to go boxes to take home at that point versus staying and dining. Proactive customer support would've helped versus a reactive attempt of customer support. Didn't penalize the bartender and provided a cash tip since the kitchen's delay was not his fault. Let's hope Portofino Trattoria does better in the future.

Service is another story. each time we've gone there have been two servers and when we get the tall Italian guy he's super attentive and great. But unfortunately the woman is not great and it makes for a less than stellar experience. She comes across as rude, she always seems overwhelmed and then she goes MIA at times. We brought friends for the first time and they even made comments about how she's allowed to still work there since she's not great. If it wasn't for her I'd definitely give the five stars!

They only take phone reservations so you have to call. Walked into our reservation everything standard up until then, and we got our seats and it was a really small corner booth with barely enough room but fine we rolled with it. They must have only had one server because it took almost an hour to get our drinks. The server came to see us about 10 minutes in and said be right back...fast forward 45 minutes she comes back takes a drink order and says it's going to be a little bit because she also has to make the drinks since the bartender called off work. Okay, rolled with it finally got our drinks. Finally placed food order and for a fear of waiting by longer we ordered apps and main course at a the same time. Well, both came out back to back lol of course. Shrimp appetizer from the Valentine's Day menu, chicken parm and chicken Marsala - all delicious! We didn't have enough room on our table but figured it out. Dessert - chocolate cake also really good. Service was not great but I also wonder if it's because they seemed to only have 1 person working. This is a place I'd consider ordering take out from and not dining in again.

The walkway to the restaurant was decorated with lights and Christmas ornaments. The windows all had wreaths. We walk in without reservations and were seated immediately upstairs. The restaurant has two levels. It was pretty busy for a weeknight but our server checked on us right away. We were brought bread and the menu was explained. We decided to order the fixed price meal. It came with a choice of appetizer, two entrees, dessert and a bottle of wine. We went with the toasted ravioli appetizer. My entree was the Misto Di Mare. Angel hair pasta with shrimp, scallops and salmon. My friend had the pasta with shrimp and mushrooms. The food was delicious. The restaurant is so cozy and I loved how it looked like a restaurant fit for a Hallmark Christmas movie. The music in the background was wonderful. All were great, especially the tuna crudo! The pieces of blackened tuna are bigger compared to other restaurants with similar tuna appetizers and the sauce is incredible! We had their tiramisu for dessert. Yum!! It comes with some coffee cream smeared on the dish that pairs perfectly with it! Overall, the experience was great and we'll be back! Both came with a choice if either Caesar or house salads. Our Caesar salads arrived promptly and we dug in. Then after 10 to 15 minutes our flatbread orders were delivered. Each order had a thin, oval-shaped pizza-like crust. The topping of the BBQ Chicken flatbread order has a spicy BBQ sauce a top a medley of grilled chicken, roasted red onions and yellow kernels of corn cut off the cob with bacon and mozzarella. The chicken was barely grilled, and onions, while plentiful had not been roasted at all. On the other hand the roasted yellow corn cut off the cob had been grilled but there was barely any corn (maybe 10 small kernals) on the flatbread. I felt there was an adequate portions of bacon, mozzarella, and cilantro. My sister was happy with the Florentine Chicken, which seamed to have more of its properly aportioned ingredients: grilled chicken with spinach in fontina, grape tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese, bacon, and marinated artichoke hearts. One of the corner pieces I tasted had only cheese, spinach, and artichoke. Besides these deficiencies, we found the service to be excellent, and the al fresco dining quiet and pleasant.
