Our waitress greeted us, after we secured a nice table, and quickly took and delivered our drinks while explaining the specials. As if the menu wasn't tough enough to decide the specials offered tempting options as well. Personally, I'm a sucker for a club sandwich and that's what I went with, paired with chips (which was the right choice, it was tasty!). My parents enjoyed their choices as well. Came here after visiting the new brewery in Batavia. I've driven by here numerous times but have never been. It's in a strip mall near downtown. I ordered the blue blue burger. I'm a fan of blue cheese, but not of this burger. I was expecting blue cheese crumbles, but it was more of a paste. The onions were fine, but the burger itself came medium rare (after requesting medium) and was pretty greasy. They are very understaffed, but it was just us and another customer in the whole restaurant. There was the cook, owner/GM, bus boy, and a server sweeping. First impressions are important when dining. It was our first visit to Windmill Grille. We started with some onion rings and ordered the filet medallions and bourbon pork chops. The meals came with homemade bread that was absolutely delightful! Our server was very good. He told us about the made from scratch food, and was very accommodating. The steak was prepared correctly. I would have liked a little more flavor in the demi glaze, but that is perhaps my personal preference. The bourbon sauce on the pork chops was delicious! It was Sunday afternoon. There were some patrons dining on a nice patio and a few inside. The inside was bright and tastefully decorated. We will definitely return. I was so happy to return!! When you find that one place where everything is fabulous, you go back!!!! We live out of town, so when we find ourselves back in town, we must stop for a meal. Tonight we enjoyed the vegetable soup and some perfectly cooked fish dishes. The added bonus is we can eat healthy knowing the Alfredo sauce will not weigh you down. This is a must try place if you are in the area and a must stop (even if you have to drive a couple hours) place. Families are encouraged. The place is always clean. I've been a regular customer since Windmill opened and couldn't be happier to have found a 5 star restaurant right here in Batavia :) It's my 92 yr old Dad's favorite restaurant in the Fox Valley area, possibly because sister co-owners Bea & Zimmy treat him like family. We eat here almost every Sunday afternoon. Today, I visited with a girlfriend, and she was impressed as well vowing to bring her husband back for a dinner here. We had the mushroom appetizer and bowls of creamy homemade seafood bisque. BIG mushroom caps with a cheesy vegetable filling and nicely toasted bread crumb exterior. My friend had a MahiMahi sandwich, she said was moist with a flavorful sauce. I had my usual 8oz. Mill House bacon cheese burger cooked medium. Includes avocado wedges topping with crispy onion straws. Everything is homemade, cooked to perfection. Wait staff is very pleasant and checks back on you just enough to be helpful but not obtrusive. Bea & Zimmy dropped by to meet my friend and welcomed her warmly. Zimmys' husband is the pizza chef and Beas' husband is main chef. The interior photo was yesterday but the pork shank photo was from last September. I hope they have this special entre again because it was superb. The food wasn't halfway bad but I do have a few minor complaints, the pizza was decent but the cheese to sauce ratio wasn't the best and our drinks were flat, my cappuccino was half foam and the barbecue chicken pizza was pretty flavorless. The truffle fries and the cod fry save it but other than that it's relatively okay the service was decent and the place looked and felt welcoming and our server was sweet. read more

It was Wednesday evening ($10.00) pasta night but the place was only half full inside while the outside dining are was about 90%. We were seated right away and the hostess let us know they were short staffed and it would be about five minutes. She gave us a bottle of water and glasses which we had to pour. After about 15 to 20 minutes of being totally ignored my wife went up to the hostess station and we then got a waitress in a minute or two with an apology. I ordered the house pasta ($10) and added shrimp ($7) got all of four medium size shrimp and the pasta and sauce were ok but nothing special. My wife ordered the Jambalaya. The was a lot of it but it was so highly spiced that she could not taste anything else in the dish. Not good at all. The service was lacking besides the wait they never refilled our water nor did they ask if my wife wanted more wine. It was less than an average outing for us. We won't be back. read more

My friend and I tried this place for the first time tonight. I had the Mill Bacon Cheeseburger, and my friend had the cod. We were both very impressed with our food. The burger was enormous, and the fries are home made. My friend's cod was flaky, moist, light, and airy. Both meals were completely delicious. Our server, John, was friendly and attentive to our needs. Atmosphere wasn't anything spectacular, but maybe the side with the bar might have had a better vibe. Had dinner here tonight. I ordered the shrimp and cod dinner, and husband ordered the red snapper special. Both came with a seasonal vegetable medley which was delicious. My meal had a creamy sauce and garlic mashed potatoes. Absolutely delicious! The cod was cooked perfectly, tender and flaked well. Red snapper came with rice. The snapper was either grilled or broiled and maybe a little overdone, but still tasty. We ordered the lemoncello cheesecake for dessert, and it was so good! Today I had the jambalaya and it was very good, a bit hot but perfectly so, better done than a number of places I have had it at. A good portion and I was able to take some home for later. If you want truly excellent food, but don't mind sullen servers, then try this place. I went there with my family for the first time and was impressed with how well the food was done and how good it tastes. Everybody in my party said the same thing. You really can't find much better tasting food. The menu is also rich with quality choices. However, the way our server treated me gave me the impression she was angry at me, as she sounded sarcastic. I don't know what I did unless it was telling her I only wanted water to drink. We ordered take out from WindMill Grille & Pizzeria in Batavia twice. The "garlic mashed potatoes", had no garlic and was extremely tasteless. The pork tenderloin sandwich was missing the mayonnaise and over cooked, very dry and hard to chew. The second time we ordered 2 of the "Juicy Lucy Burgers" well done. The description of the burger on their menu states it is stuffed with a four cheese blend and grilled so that the cheese is melted inside. When my wife looked inside the burgers there was no cheese inside. Instead the inside of both of the burgers was raw and unappetizing. When we called the restaurant, one of owners just gave us excuses. She said that they no longer make the burger like that because people complained that it was too bloody and the web site and their menu needs to be updated. Also, she stated that the person who took our order over the phone must have not heard us well; even though the female on the phone taking our order, repeated the order back to us. Their hand cut French fries were also raw and not cooked all the way through. She made us 2 new burgers, when I got there they were already in a bag knotted at the top. When I got them home one of the burgers' buns was burnt. My wife who showed me the burnt bun and we called and left 2 messages on their voicemail and nobody bothered to call me back. Another reviewer stated that "something off organizationally", after what I saw; they are not off in their assessment. We gave them several opportunities to correct the many, many mistakes that they made, and they failed miserably. Don't waste your time and your money at this horrible, rude, and disgusting restaurant. We hope that the chamber of commerce does something about this terrible restaurant, so nobody else has to have such a horrific experience like we did. read more

Had a pizza from here for the first time, a large thin crust with sausage/mushrooms. The crust wasn't that thin and doughy, almost chewy. It was light on sauce and it had no flavor, really lacked any good Italian seasoning. Sausage seemed ok but again, lacked those ingredients we ordered. Too much mozzarella cheese and tasted processed. We REALLY hoped this would be a WOW pizza but it fell far short.
