A small family Italian restaurant that is known for is pizza. Don't miss all the other choices. Only a handful of tables inside and more outdoors. Our party of three started with shared arancini. A very light coating with an amazing stuffing. Best appetizer on the menu. Our entrees were chicken Marsala, chicken parm, and tortellini alla panna. Wow! Very light sauces and large portions. Definitely family recipes. We were too full to think of desserts. Definitely, pay a visit or order out. There is more than pizza. A pleasant surprise in St. Charles.

My family and I stopped into Pomodoro E Mozzarella for the first time yesterday after doing extensive research for an authentic Italian spot near to Oswego/Yorkville area since these areas are lacking in that department. It's located inside of a strip mall (do not let this deceive you) and is very tiny but decorated so elegantly. There's about 5 tables inside and another 5 or so on their outside patio area. We came in for an early dinner knowing about the space and wanting to make sure we got a spot to eat inside due to the heat wave and to account for the time it took to get there (if we brought it home it wouldn't have been as fresh due to where we live). We were immediately greeted by Francesco, one of the owners sons and he was absolutely delightful. He told us a little about the restaurant-- his family opened it in 2012, they're from Sicily and almost everything there is made from scratch including the bread. We also got to talk to his father (the cook) and he was wonderful too. Their family is simply wonderful. Here's what we got to eat to share: Drinks: Aperol Spritz - this is the first place I have been to that actually makes this drink the correct way. You can actually taste the aperol and it isn't overpowered by the bubbly. By far my favorite Aperol Spritz I've had while eating out. Appetizers: Caponata - this came with home made bread that was so good, this was probably our favorite appetizer. The eggplant and carrots in this dish really made it for me and it paired so well with the fresh bread Tronchetti Di Panelli - the fried garbanzo paste fritters were unlike anything I've ever had before. These are a Sicilian speciality, almost in the form of flattened mozzarella sticks? They were light and airy but also full of flavor. I'd definitely order this again. Sicilian Orange Salad - I am not a fruit/sweet salad person by any means and tend to avoid them all together, but I'm so glad I tried this. The dressing was incredible, more on the savory side and only sweet aspect to the salad was the oranges that were so sweet and juicy. It rounded out the salad so well, I'd order this again as well. Mains: Eggplant Parmigiana - I am a fiend for eggplant parmigiana and this one takes the cake for the best one I've ever had. It has that authentic home made taste (because it is) that brings any Italian immediate comfort. The eggplant was soft while still having a nice crispy outer. The sauce was perfect and the penne was the perfect touch. Cheese Ravioli - holy cow are these things huge and authentic. You can actually taste the creaminess and distinct flavor of the ricotta. I loved these! This also came with homemade garlic bread which was phenomenal as well. Fresca Pizza - this was their white pizza with prosciutto and arugula. The crust was spectacular as was the rest of the pizza. I'd order this again as well. Dessert Affogato - I almost wept in the restaurant over how good this was. They serve theirs with a hazelnut gelato (they sometimes do pistachio too) and my god was it delicious. Again, the best affogato I've had in a restaurant setting. Cannoli - this was probably the biggest cannoli I've ever seen/had. Extremely tasty and authentic. I will be screaming from the rooftops about this place for the next couple of months. Pomodoro E Mozzarella is run by the kindest family and supporting their business is so easy to do. This is hands down the most authentic Italian spot I have been to. Our search is over and well worth the drive. We will be back! Thank you Francesco and family!

Pretty good! Tried this place since it's close to work. Tried the anchovy pizza - very tasty! Very fresh, great flavor. Good amount of saltiness from the anchovies with the fresh gooey cheese. Very good. Also tried the arancini - got two for the order. Huge! Sat outside on a nice day. Service was kind and prompt. Good variety on menu. Very reasonable pricing. Clean good ambience. Would recommend!

Came here with a friend on a pretty busy night. We did have to wait 20 minutes to be seated, but we didn't wait any longer than that. The food was really delicious. The only thing I would say I had a complaint about was that the waiter kept forgetting our water, but was bringing stuff to other tables. Food was 10 out of 10 and will definitely be back.

This place knocked it out of the park on all fronts for us: Food, Service and ambiance. Our first visit here. This is the home cooking that I grew up with. I recommend all of the items we ordered: Fried Zucchini - perfectly crisp and a large number of pieces for a table to share. Garlic bread with cheese - I liked the soft crust on the bread. Garden salad as my entree - fresh, cold lettuce, tomato, a couple of briny black olives. Their thick creamy garlic dressing is fabulous. Eggplant Parmesan with rigatoni - thinly sliced and breaded eggplant. The sauce with it was good. Large serving size so we had leftovers to bring home. What impressed me was that all of the hot items were brought to our table steaming hot. The food did not sit under a heat lamp. I'm going to make this my birthday dinner next month.

The food is excellent and the service was wonderful... it's was very underwhelming when we walked in the restaurant. Looked like take out only. They had a couple tables up front. We were about to leave as we were hoping for something more upscale, but the gentleman behind the counter came over and spoke to us and was very nice. We decided to stay since we were both famished. So glad we did! Joe( who I believe is probably the owner) was great with quick service. Being our first time there he didn't charge us for our desserts. I recommend trying the Tronchetti Di Panelli appetizer! Everything was fresh and delicious! read more

As a local pizza place, we had to give it a try based on the high yelp reviews. I had a taste for NY style pizza and decided to give it a go. I ordered a NY style sausage pizza. The sausage used on the pizza is one of the best sausages I have ever had. I could tell they use fresh and quality ingredients. Also, we ordered a specialty pizza. Also, very good. Is is my favorite pizza place? No. Is it good? Sure. We live in Chicago. Only good pizza survives. As a local to the STC area, I would say this place is worth a try. read more

I just tried this place for the first time and loved it. We ordered the New York style with extra sauce pepperoni and sausage. The pizza was fantastic. We got an order of the fresh baked bread, meatballs and cannolis all were homemade and perfect. I've tried every pizza in the area. Riverside is great but this place is even better. Family owned business too. read more

We ordered a thin crust pizza after reading the reviews on Yelp. We found the crust to be doughy, the sausage overcooked and the amount of cheese to be excessive. The pizza was done less than 15 minutes after ordering which makes us think these items were prepared long before the pizza was ordered, and re-heated,but I can't be sure of that. It also lacked flavor. Maybe we just caught them or a bad night. read more

Hands down the best pizza place in the area located in St Charles & they know how to make true "New York" style pizza. They also make the best homemade meatballs too! Family owned & operated by a very hard working husband & wife couple. When you become a regular they treat you like family & they even have a few cute tables inside the place if you want to enjoy the food there! Wanted to hit another local spot, so we checked out Pomodora! We ordered a medium sized pizza for 3 people, half cheese, half pepperoni. We we're sufficiently stuffed with a mild appetite. The thin crust pizza is our first choice! Moderately priced for quality food. Guest appearance: "W" -W's review- Friendly, quick, and tasty. This was my first time here, and added to my list of places to come back to. The pizza came out quick and was served hot with water. the sauce was unique and delicious, and the crust was thick enough to fill getting a thin crust. My only wish was a little less cheese, but would be a perfect amount if the pizza was well done. I have mixed feelings about this place. We've been a few times now. Lasagna was good, as was the tuna salad sandwich. Rigatoni with sausage was absolutely delicious. The vibe is VERY Italian there, and it's clear the owners are Italian, as well. Our last visit, the Eggplant Parm was disappointing. Skinny little eggplant slices, breaded and fried. Spaghetti and Eggplant were way over-sauced, so the Eggplant was like just lots of soggy breading with maybe some eggplant in there. I thought traditionally pasta was cooked to a little less than al dente, then finished it in the sauce. My pasta was cooked in apparently unsalted water, with sauce poured on top. Pasta and sauce needed salt and seasonings. The eggplant was skinny slices, breaded and over-fried. If I'm ordering eggplant parmesan, I want slices of eggplant, thick, breaded and either baked or fried, so I know I've got eggplant. I think the menu is a bit hit-or-miss. Most stuff is very very good, a few menu items are a flop. If you find a winner, stick with it. I'm never doing Eggplant Parmesan again. read more

Speaking as a 1st gen Italian and as a professional Certified Executive Chef this place is NOT my "cup of tea". The pizza was bland. Bland cheese, bland sauce, soggy crust. If this is NYC style then I'll stick with Chicago style. If they want to taste a great Neapolitan style pizza, go to Il Bosco in Scottsdale, AZ; best in the country!!! Would like to see homemade gnocchi (commercially made is too tough) and capellini on menu. I dont go to Italian restaurants very often because very few can deliver as well as I can myself at home. read more

Hubby & I came here tonight because it came highly recommended by a friend. This food is AMAZING! Authentic Italian where everything is homemade. I had the chicken parmigiana sandwich. The bread it was on was to die for! Had just been made (I asked them because it looked & tasted so so fresh)! My hubby had the gnocchi and had them add sausage to it in an arrabiata sauce. My Italian hubby is particularly critical about Italian food and he was in heaven. He talked with the owner for a bit; gnocchi totally handmade right there. I wish he sold his gnocchi and bread to the public...I'd buy it every week! This food is top-notch Italian. Lovely, Italian owner with his very kind & well-mannered son helping him. Amazing food! The baked clams were the best I've ever had. The garlic bread reminded my grandma's- buttery, soft and just the right amount of garlic! The deep dish pizza was thick and delicious, perfect for the kids. The pasta was out of this world! Ravioli Pancetta, peas and mushrooms in a cream sauce. Lobster Ravioli! I could go on and on. Ordered for takeout when I was craving some Italian food- 30 minutes for 3 main courses and 2 salads. Fresh ingredients and absolutely delicious. The pizza smelled amazing as well. Will be back for sure. Mom and Pop style place but very clean and inviting. Some outdoor seating as well. read more

Service is bad at this place which creates a conundrum if you are wanting to eat their pizza. Pizza fresh out of their oven is great. Their pizza more so than others does not hold up well when placed in a box for take out as the crust goes from crusty to a soggy mess due to steam (you have been warned if you order takeout). We have given up trying to eat here on a Friday or Saturday night. If there are more than two tables of guests seated I would pass it up and try some other time. Some of the best food in town though sadly some of the worst service in town. I wanted to rate 3 stars due to all the service issues though food is to good for that and the family to nice. read more

Service was quick since the slices are already made and just need a quick warm up before being served. I tried the mikes hot honey pepperoni, white pie, and the supreme. My favorite was the mikes hot honey pep pizza. The crust is crispy while all the ingredients go well together. You get the hot and the sweet. Going forward I'll probably get a whole pizza of this vs getting it by the slice.

Full disclosure: I downloaded the app just so I could write about how delicious the food here is. My girlfriend and I were just passing by and she said she wanted pizza so we pulled over and ordered the Ai Spinaci, a side of meatballs and fries. With two drinks it was just over $20. While we sat and waited for the food we spoke with the owner and found out that she was originally from Sicily. After a great conversation, she brought us some of the homemade toasted ravioli and fresh bread. It's hard for me to find new adjectives to describe how absolutely amazing the food is. We both took one bite of the ravioli and just melted in our seats. The meatballs came out next and the food just got tastier and the pizza was even better. We've been to eight countries around the world and this is easily the best pizza we've ever had. 5 stars isn't enough. read more

I visited this local Italian place today. Joe the owner is a kind man. The food is delicious. I have a Margherita pizza. It was extremely good. He uses all fresh imported ingredients from Italy. The establishment is clean. There is no seating, so it is ideal for carry out or delivery. If you're a business owner in St. Charles near Randall or Main, this is the best place to use for an in office business lunch, especially if you're entertaining a vendor or client. Little sloppy as the thicker thin crust can be but fresh and quality ingredients.
