I've been here a few times now, Shorna always does the absolute best work, whether I give her inspiration photos or ask her to just go off of vibes and she kills it every time! I haven't had any of the other girls do my nails, but I've seen them working and honestly it looks like everyone is amazing here, and even though Shorna is my girl I'd be happy with the work anyone does. The shop is cute, not to loud, we can have a conversation and catch up. The location is great and there is plenty of parking! I've come here twice now. Once for a pedicure and another time for a mani & pedi. I'm fairly simple. I never do designs or anything. The nail techs are meticulous about getting your nails shaped correctly. Everything is clean and they offer liners and a new set of tools when working on you. My only issue was I don't really know anyone yet, so I booked a mani & pedi on their website with any available tech. The same girl who did my mani did my pedi so rather than spending around 1-1.5 hours in the salon, I was there for almost 2.5 hours. read more

I get my nails done by a natural nail tech since I prefer builder gel or SNS. JW has always done an amazing job with my nails! Absolutely LOVE this nail salon. I have been coming here on and off for probably over eight years and usually see the owner. Brittany who is absolutely amazing. She is probably one of the best nail techs I've ever had. But honestly, all of the girls here are super talented. Today was my first time visiting the polish room at college park and my experience couldn't have been any better! I had booked an appointment With Brittany to do my nails for my upcoming birthday and she did such an amazing job that I could literally cry of happiness. Her work on Instagram speaks for itself and the way she was able to capture my vision and transfer them to my nails can only come from someone with great creativity and years of experience. I also had an appointment with Noor for threading and eyebrow tint and she was also very sweet and kind and recommended micro blading for my eyebrows which I will highly consider since I have very thin eyebrows. I love The Polish Room! It took me a minute to find this salon but after seeing their Instagram, I knew they had top of the line nail ARTISTS. I called Thursday for a last minute appointment on Friday needing a full set with designs & some personal touches. Being a first time client, they request a $15 deposit. I originally requested Suni but was informed by the receptionist that due to it being last minute she wouldn't have had enough design time to do my nails - completely understandable! She informed me that Rachel had time & I loved her work as well so I scheduled my appointment with her. Unfortunately, I was almost 30 minutes late because I navigated to the wrong place. I got there & she had still waited for me! I showed her a few pictures for inspo of what I wanted & let her do her own thing. I'm going to Carnival so they had to be top notch! I went to get my nails done for a wedding and even had a photo of what I wanted but I found the job to be subpar. The pedicure was very nice and Zandria did a great job there, but it was the gel manicure that fell flat. The nails do not have good coverage and while she was using the machine, she ground into my skin on my pinky and now have a scab. I took my daughter here for her 15th birthday to get her first acrylic mani with art. She had a specific photo of of who she wanted her nails to be. It took almost 3 hours. Cost $70. And the it was such a sloppy job. And what sucks even more is that her nails started chipping within a week. Like why??? It was so frustrating. Not going back there. read more

Won't come here again It's been years since I've done my nails and decided to treat myself for my birthday. Sunny was a nice lady but the finished product was not good. I was happy when I left but than realized how bad of a job was done. I did my nails on January 30th and after less than 2 weeks, my nails started to lift and the corner of my thumb nail snapped off. I had tips and acrylic. I don't do anything harsh with my hands for my thumb nail to snap off, I do basic house cleaning, cooking and typing. I also realized my right ring finger has a dent, a slight dip. Its difficult to see because that nail has glitter nail polish but you can see the dip on its side and when you feel it. Also one of the reasons I did my nails is because my cuticles seriously needed some TLC, I mentioned this upon booking my appt (and giving a $15 deposit) I needed to remind Sunny of my cuticles before she started to apply nail polish. You don't need to be a nail technician to know my cuticles needed to be treated so I was surprised when she was going to start apply my nail polish. The cuticle treatment did not feel like a real pampering, it was just after the fact, no oils, no hand massages were done (Like in my previous experiences at other places) The overall experience just felt lazy, I had to point things out and I didn't feel truly pampered. I will be visiting a different nail salon tomorrow so they can fix my nails read more

Was so excited to come to this salon after seeing their Instagram, and thankful I was able to get a last minute appointment. Unfortunately my experience did not meet my expectations and excitement. I was able to book the appointment for 10am - which is when the store opens. when I got there the door was locked. After knocking a girl came and opened the door, I followed her in thinking she would let me know where i'm going. She simply let me in and turned around. Did not greet me, ask me who I was there to see, if I was new - nothing. I then let her know i had made an appointment for 10am with Julie, she asked me to sit at the bench in the front and when Julie got there she would call me. I waited 15 minutes and was called by another girl who had me sit at a desk, then Julie came and sat behind the desk. Again did not introduce herself, did not greet me, didnt even ask questions or what I wanted. I tried to be friendly and introduce myself, make casual conversation but she was more of the quiet type I guess. When she started on my nails I let her know I wanted to do some nail art on just my ring finger of each hand, when i explained what I wanted she said she didnt think we would have enough time so I could only get color. (I had previously asked in my booking for nail art.) I mentioned this to her but she said she wouldn't have time because i had a pedicure right after. So I accepted it. Half way through my nails, sitting in an awkward silence, she says that she has a little extra time leftover and asked if I wanted to do a glitter nail, I said sure. She took out this very thin glitter and put a layer, I asked for a bit more as it was pretty transparent, she put a bit more but it still didnt do the job, ended up looking like a 12 year olds nail in my opinion. I'm not sure is this girl was new but it took her an entire hour to do my hands. I will say that she was very gentle and precise when prepping nails though. At the end I had to wait for another tech to finish filling up her coffee cups at the sink to wash my hands. I did a pedicure Vanna, she was very nice and gentle with her work and very welcoming. I was charged an extra 5$ for my glitter nail which I thought was just bull, but at that point was fed up and decided to leave. Spent over $60 there and 2 hours and honestly felt like it was a waste. I debated going a second time and maybe sitting with a different person but the problem is the place was unprofessional from the second I walked in the door. I understand not everyone will be happy and chipper all day every day but if your working in a business of personal service where referrals and returning clients matter, hospitality and just plain manners go a long way. The nail techs were super nice and very entertaining however, I was not pleased with my nails afterwards. My nail tech was J.W who "specialized" in natural nails. She did an excellent job shaping my nails, but when having the dip applied, she didn't use a base coat dip, and the dip powder they used was very thin. My nails are already thin so I usually use the dip powder to thicken my natural nails to keep from chipping. My nails were super sharp and only lasted 2 days before my right index finger chipped. They charge $48 which, to me, is super high for nails that chipped after 2 days (too high for nails to be chipping AT ALL). Techs were nice, dip quality and application was subpar. They don't even have a lot of dip colors and cannot do ombre. I don't think I will be going back there. read more

I wanted to like this place SO bad as I have been looking for a go-to nail salon that specializes in nail art, but unfortunately, The Polish Room won't be that place for me. I was fortunate to be able to call the day before and get an appointment squeezed in the next day in time for my weekend Miami trip. They require a $15 deposit at the time of booking which I totally respect & understand - time is precious, and you don't want to waste a high-demand nail tech's time. This is why I was extremely surprised and disappointed that my personal time was not respected here after rushing over to make sure I made my appointment on time. I arrived on time, with no one to greet me at the front, and my nail tech Rachel did not have her desk ready for me - it kind of felt like she was surprised I was there & didn't know what services I had booked. Another thing that got to me was there was no hand wash before my holographic stiletto nail set was put on, or after. I had glitter ALL OVER my hands & arms by the time I got to my pedicure. What irritated me the most is that another client of hers smudged a nail before she left. Now, I've been getting my nails done a very long time now and have had this happen in the past before, but my nail tech usually respects my time slot and asks the client to come back later or make another appointment to fix the problem. Rachel automatically took back the client without asking me if I was okay with waiting and pushing my time back - I wasn't, I had a dinner to catch. She drew me a cold bath for my pedicure and had me sit there soaking in cold water for close to 20 minutes! I literally had to pull another tech over to have her help adjust the water, and this nail tech also kindly started my pedicure after she saw my visible irritation. Rachel finally came back after 20 minutes to finish what the other tech started, and it was an okay pedicure, but definitely not the most detailed I've had when it comes to callus & cuticle care. Oh, and she kept stopping the pedicure to gossip with another tech & her client in the next chair over. Ridiculous. The pedicure was definitely not worth the price. I was also late for my dinner after, because this process stretched out over 2 hours. I am actually pleased with the results from my manicure which is why there is 3 stars instead of 2, but after this experience, I unfortunately won't be returning as I don't appreciate my time not being respected the way I respected their time. They don't even offer you wine here either. read more

Honestly.... Exhausting to even write this review. I'm just extremely disappointed with my first time service for a thread+tint here. I had been anticipating this appointment and so excited as I've been following the eyebrow specialist on social media before she was with the polish room. I arrived a few minutes early, she was asleep in one of the pedicure chairs. I come out from using the restroom and she introduced herself and told me which room to go to and apologized for the mess because of construction. But really, there were personal belongings spread out and old used threads thrown all over the floor and I immediately felt bad vibes. She quickly threaded my brows. Like, no time spent at all just woke up, threaded them quickly and suggested I not tint them because I needed to grow them among other reasons to not get them to done then was told it's up to me ultimately. I don't care what you say, my brows have been threaded and tinted before in February and have looked great. I just thought I'd try this spot instead since it's closer to where I live downtown. It just sounded t she didn't have the time or energy or want to do them. So I accepted the suggestion as I just didn't want to be there any longer, I paid (still $18 for something I could've gotten done better at brow art 123 in the mall) and I left. I'm just sad to be honest and expected soooo much better out of this experience. This was a waste of time and money. read more

Okay so a friend recommended I start coming here and I haven't gone anywhere else ever since!!! The girls here are all amazing and very professional! They do a top notch job when it comes to nails. I've had mine done by Suni, Britt, Teresa and Rachel and they all do more than an extraordinary job. I only get acrylics so I can't speak for the natural nails but if you looking for a place that is chill and laid back then I definitely recommend the polish room. One thing to remember is that it's appointment only!! They do NOT do walks in, but I like this so much better vs walking into a salon because you don't have to wait forever and the nail tech has this time reserved especially for you.
