I ordered tuna "classic rolls" as well as a few nigiri: fatty tuna, squid, and fly fish roe. The roe and fatty tuna were standouts in the bunch. On the latter, the fat glistened over the surface of the meat giving it a buttery flavor and texture. The roe by contrast were small and gave a satisfying soft crunch which was a treat. However, the squid and the tuna in the maki roll were clearly less fresh. Both were firmer than usual, with the squid verging on tough. It was topped with gold leaf whose delicate texture ironically emphasized the undesirable consistency of the fish. Perhaps the trick is to start by asking the server what came into the kitchen most recently and ordering that.

Ko Fusion offers an entire Japanese sushi menu, along with various stir fries, curries, ramen and even Korean BBQ on certain nights. From the multiple visits I have had here, I would not say that they stand at the top in any cuisine, the food is relatively average. First things first, paying over $20 for a single sushi roll is one of my least favorite dining experiences out there. With restaurants charging a little more for an all you can eat experience or even doing buy one get one deals, the sushi roll has to be really, really good to make it worth it. I did not feel that way here at Ko Fusion. In fact, I felt that Flaming Phoenix Roll was good at best and when I finished, I was still starving. I do think there is an effort to import quality ingredients and do a nice job with presentation, but I was definitely not satisfied. On my next visit, I wanted to order a dish as it would hopefully fill me up more. I ordered their Bul Go Kee and at $32 dollars, I was really was hoping it would be a standout dish. The food was alright, but again, could not justify the price point set for the dish. Not only that, I am looking back on the menu and realize that I never got the lettuce wrap portion of the meal.
