Came here around 6pm with a party of 6 and got seated right away. We were able to call ahead and check how busy it was. Staff were very friendly and food came super quick. The chef even surprised our daughter with a slice of cheesecake. Spicy salmon - surprised it wasn't blended up but it was good with the spicy mayo Salmon California - got this without the cucumber and it was good Aac - all the ingredients seemed fresh Tom yum soup - warm, spicy, and tart. Very cosy restaurant with 2 different menus: Thai and Japanese. The wonton soup was wonderful with very tasty dumplings, the okonomiyaki was delicious however a little bit too heavy on the sauce, my sashimi selection was fresh and flavorful. The only minus is the lack of shredded Daikon radishes for sushimi plate. The service was excellent! I recommend! read more

Ordered takeout and was informed it will be ready in 15 minutes. When I arrived on time was told 10 more minutes which turned into another 35 mins The sushi when I arrived home was a jumbled mess not the expected for sushi. Now the worst part, the food had no flavor. Ended up throwing out most of it. read more

2nd visit in 1 month Mixed results Both times the drinks were not ready and had been overlooked but charged Tuna Poke Bowl: B Pad See Ew Noodles with Beef: B Pad Thai with Chicken: C- fatty pieces of chicken and no cilantro. Not our favorite sauce. ( Not even close to Our favorite spot) Sticky Mango Rice: D- (The rice was a firm gelatinous glob. couldn't even cut it up into pieces with spoon. Mango tasted bitter/old?) Maybe the lesson for us is stick to Sushi at this location read more

Hm... I have been a fan of Sushi Siam for a few years now....but the knowledge of food the servers have is a joke.... The restaurant posted a phone on FB a few weeks back that looked good. I asked one server, she said it was a tuna appetizer, we ordered it to find out it was not. So we asked another server and he said "oh that's an old photo, we have not sold them in a couple of years." Well... in addition we added extra stuff on our roll which didn't get added but still got charged for it. Didn't even bother asking to adjust the bill as we didn't even want to go there with the incomplete servers. Overall, a very disappointed evening.. read more

Sushi Siam - The servers have no clue what this is... - Thai Near Me - Champaign, Illinois

Sushi Siam is OK. In a more competitive metro, I would be tougher on Sushi Siam. However, I understand that: 1. Champaign/Urbana (Chambana?) is not a more competitive metro 2. Quality ingredients are hard to come by here. 3. A place that did serve food with imported high quality ingredients would have to charge prices that would be locally untenable. I think it's probably the best that the Champaign area is going to get in terms of Asian/Thai/Sushi, hence 5*. I think it's important for the area to have more international options for food. Anyway, the review: I had the Woon Sen Pad Thai with Shrimp, Thai Hot. In my opinion, this was not Thai Hot, not spicy at all, and not even Pad Thai. Its primary flavor was sweet. It didn't have the characteristic (and delicious) balance of sourness savoriness, and sweetness from tamarind, fish sauce, palm sugar, and other classic Thai ingredients. It just tasted very, very sweet. I was glad there was a lime there. The smaller portions that other reviewers were complaining about was a blessing in disguise here. I also had a rainbow roll, chutoro and otoro nigiri. These were okay. The fish didn't taste like it was particularly high quality, which I wasn't surprised by and was willing to look over. I was really disappointed with the sushi rice. I felt it was really lacking because it was so bland overall...there was hardly any trace of rice vinegar (or any flavor, really) that I could detect in it besides the rice. It was more like plain old rice. My favorite thing was the deep fried vanilla ice cream, which was recommended by my server. It was delicious and indulgent. It has been my favorite dessert in the area by far. I appreciate the recommendation. All that being said, I appreciate the work that Sushi Siam is putting forward. It was surprising to me to have been so...surprised at Sushi Siam's choices with respect to flavor profiles. My hope is that these choices are adaptations to local preferences. read more

Sushi Siam - Hot Green Tea - Thai Near Me - Champaign, Illinois

Food was really good and sushi was surprisingly fresh tasting. Despite there only being two servers they were super attentive and were definitely working hard to meet all of the customers needs. I was very impressed by how hard working they both were! Unfortunately don't know their names but they were two young Asian girls who were working the evening of 2/18. read more

I ordered a small cup of Ton Yum Soup and 6 pc of Crazy California Sushi. The size of the meals were just suitable for one person to taste and finish! The flavors of soup were balanced with the characteristic Thai sour taste. Also, their sauce container looks delicate, and their service is very friendly and helpful. read more

Super good! Have been wanting to check this place out (called on a Friday evening 2 weeks ago and was told it was an hour wait, so I passed) but finally got the chance to today for lunch. It was so good! Service was very friendly and gave suggestions on what to order. Super fresh seafood, I ordered 2 rolls (spicy salmon and volcano) both were so good! Will definitely return. I wish I could give this place 100 stars! We were on our way from Minneapolis to Memphis, TN and had heard about Sushi Siam. We took a detour hoping it would be worth the drive and were so happy we did! One of the BEST meals I have ever had! There presentation of the food was great and I could tell the care that was put into every detail! And the food!!!!!! Wow! I will be dreaming of Sushi Siam for a long time! I might even have to move here! :) The food really was fresh and delicious! I can't recommend it enough to try this place out!!! read more

Wow... This place exceeded my expectations. I've heard of this place last year and finally got around to trying it out and was happy to find how amazing it was. The fish was sooo good- tasted fresh, buttery, soft, everything I could want in raw fish in the Chambana area. The plating/aesthetic was beautiful. Service was top notch as well; the servers constantly checked in to make sure everything was perfect. We got the sashimi combo platter (which had a great variety), the chirashi don, the yellow dragon roll, and the okonomiyaki- No complaints about any of the dishes. Price is about the same as any of the other sushi restaurants in town. They also serve thai food, which based off descriptions and photos sounds amazing as well. We'll definitely be back next time to try it! read more

Was picking up some items at Cheese and Crackers when I saw this new restaurant was open. It was just after 11am and I thought it was a good opportunity for an early lunch. The restaurant is very modern with a few tables set up -- probably sits about 30 people. I sat near the front by the window which i wasn't crazy about because it was so cold outside, but the heat was turned up so I was pleasantly surprised. The menu has lots of options, but there were no lunch specials. The prices on most things seemed reasonable....under $13 for most things. Some soups had small portion options. I wound up ordering a spicy salmon roll and the appetizer sized Tom yum Soup. Everything was out in a matter of minutes and the sushi was a pleasant surprise. The rice was fresh and seasoned perfectly. The salmon was also fresh. The soup was very spicy...and i like spicy, but this had me coughing. It tasted great, but the spice was overpowering. I would be interested in trying other things, especially the sushi. A good addition to west Champaign. read more

Great food and good atmosphere great place if you love trying new and beautiful cuisine and drink the tea is awesome

Their noodle dishes are great. Their pad see ew is probably my favorite in town. I took a star off because the prices overall are on the high side, especially when you consider the portion. Their portioning for the stir fried vegetable medley dish was also off. The picture included was taken before eating- it felt too expensive for the price. Also, the dish was very soup-y for a dish titled "stir fry". The dish itself tasted great but it does make me hesitant to try other entrees. I can't speak for their rolls but I tried their sashimi. It was fine but again, a couple of dollars more expensive without the quality or quantity feeling justified. Overall, I recommend their noodle dishes. read more

We have been looking for a Thai restaurant since our arrival in the Champaign/ Urbana area. We discovered this gem when stopping in at the strip mall it is located and LOVED the lunch we just now had. I had the Cashew Nuts with Dried Red Pepper Entree, and my husband had the Bento Basil Chicken, complete with salad, soup, and California Sushi, both with medium heat. Our meals were absolutely delicious!! Our server was very pleasant. The interior is lovely with comfortable seating. I know you will be very pleased upon your visit. read more

Recently the service at this place has been horrible. We went in at around 7pm, and there were only a few tables. But we waited for almost half an hour without anyone taking our order. We ended up leaving and going to somewhere else. They seem extremely understaffed. If you go, prepare to be completely neglected. read more

When our babysitter cancelled last minute, we decided to order takeout for my birthday dinner. The food was ready within 15 minutes and everything was fresh. The Pad Thai is probably some of the best in town! Very spicy though so beware! Mild was almost more than I could handle. The sushi was also fresh with a lot of different options. We got 2 signature rolls and they were both amazing. I honestly can't remember which ones we ordered! This would also be a great lunch spot as they have bento boxes!
