Sashimi selection. Very fresh!
Nataliya Z.

Very cosy restaurant with 2 different menus: Thai and Japanese. The wonton soup was wonderful with very tasty dumplings, the okonomiyaki was delicious however a little bit too heavy on the sauce, my sashimi selection was fresh and flavorful. The only minus is the lack of shredded Daikon radishes for sushimi plate. The service was excellent! I recommend!

While the restaurant is small, the service was good and the food was delicious!!! It came out pretty fast and so tasty!

The servers have no clue what this is...

Hm... I have been a fan of Sushi Siam for a few years now....but the knowledge of food the servers have is a joke.... The restaurant posted a phone on FB a few weeks back that looked good. I asked one server, she said it was a tuna appetizer, we ordered it to find out it was not. So we asked another server and he said "oh that's an old photo, we have not sold them in a couple of years." Well... in addition we added extra stuff on our roll which didn't get added but still got charged for it. Didn't even bother asking to adjust the bill as we didn't even want to go there with the incomplete servers. Overall, a very disappointed evening..

Sushi Siam is OK. In a more competitive metro, I would be tougher on Sushi Siam. However, I understand that: 1. Champaign/Urbana (Chambana?) is not a more competitive metro 2. Quality ingredients are hard to come by here. 3. A place that did serve food with imported high quality ingredients would have to charge prices that would be locally untenable. I think it's probably the best that the Champaign area is going to get in terms of Asian/Thai/Sushi, hence 5*. I think it's important for the area to have more international options for food. Anyway, the review: I had the Woon Sen Pad Thai with Shrimp, Thai Hot. In my opinion, this was not Thai Hot, not spicy at all, and not even Pad Thai. Its primary flavor was sweet. It didn't have the characteristic (and delicious) balance of sourness savoriness, and sweetness from tamarind, fish sauce, palm sugar, and other classic Thai ingredients. It just tasted very, very sweet. I was glad there was a lime there. The smaller portions that other reviewers were complaining about was a blessing in disguise here. I also had a rainbow roll, chutoro and otoro nigiri. These were okay. The fish didn't taste like it was particularly high quality, which I wasn't surprised by and was willing to look over. I was really disappointed with the sushi rice. I felt it was really lacking because it was so bland overall...there was hardly any trace of rice vinegar (or any flavor, really) that I could detect in it besides the rice. It was more like plain old rice. My favorite thing was the deep fried vanilla ice cream, which was recommended by my server. It was delicious and indulgent. It has been my favorite dessert in the area by far. I appreciate the recommendation. All that being said, I appreciate the work that Sushi Siam is putting forward. It was surprising to me to have been so...surprised at Sushi Siam's choices with respect to flavor profiles. My hope is that these choices are adaptations to local preferences.

I ordered a small cup of Ton Yum Soup and 6 pc of Crazy California Sushi. The size of the meals were just suitable for one person to taste and finish! The flavors of soup were balanced with the characteristic Thai sour taste. Also, their sauce container looks delicate, and their service is very friendly and helpful.

Best Thai place in the champaign area. Definitely will be coming back every time I visit the area. Ordered the following: -Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken (mild spicy) -Sweet Chili Fried Rice with Tofu -Shrimp Tempura Sushi -California Roll Sushi

Chicken Satay

Very tasty food, the veggies were all so fresh and delicious. The whole place is very modern with a touch of tradition, all in all very aesthetically pleasing. The waitress was also very attentive and sweet, food and drink were brought out very quickly as well.

Super good! Have been wanting to check this place out (called on a Friday evening 2 weeks ago and was told it was an hour wait, so I passed) but finally got the chance to today for lunch. It was so good! Service was very friendly and gave suggestions on what to order. Super fresh seafood, I ordered 2 rolls (spicy salmon and volcano) both were so good! Will definitely return. Not busy during week day lunch service!

Some of their Siam fried dumplings...flavorless meat that was presumably was once chicken served with a couple of table spoons of "sauce."

Haven't had a bad meal from here, true portions not gigantic but quality over quantity, top 2 Thai place in town.

However, the quality of food here does not seem to justify the price point set at Ko Fusion. The menu reflects the fusion aspect of the restaurant. Ko Fusion offers an entire Japanese sushi menu, along with various stir fries, curries, ramen and even Korean BBQ on certain nights. From the multiple visits I have had here, I would not say that they stand at the top in any cuisine, the food is relatively average. First things first, paying over $20 for a single sushi roll is one of my least favorite dining experiences out there. With restaurants charging a little more for an all you can eat experience or even doing buy one get one deals, the sushi roll has to be really, really good to make it worth it. I did not feel that way here at Ko Fusion. In fact, I felt that Flaming Phoenix Roll was good at best and when I finished, I was still starving. I do think there is an effort to import quality ingredients and do a nice job with presentation, but I was definitely not satisfied. On my next visit, I wanted to order a dish as it would hopefully fill me up more. I ordered their Bul Go Kee and at $32 dollars, I was really was hoping it would be a standout dish. The food was alright, but again, could not justify the price point set for the dish. Not only that, I am looking back on the menu and realize that I never got the lettuce wrap portion of the meal. The beef itself had some decent flavor and was tender, so it at least wasn't a bad dish. I just was left feeling like I did not get my money's worth. Would I recommend this place for nicer occasions? I guess so. However, I would go so far to make this your go-to Japanese or Korean spot, places that specialize in those cuisines would likely give you a better bang for your buck.
