Ok, so, it's Christmas Eve and we need somewhere to eat-- unanimously we decide to visit Moki Sushi. We start with: Hamachi Lover Roll- this sushi is tasty and flavorful, even has a bit of spice. My favorite Moki Roll - some sweetness, the apple stands out, maybe a thinner drizzle of the mango sauce. Still tasty though. Sapporo Roll - has a nice spice to it and I enjoyed the texture. Another favorite Spicy Crispy Tuna - this was wasn't quite my favorite, but it was enjoyable. I asked the waiter which roll was the spiciest and this was his recommendation. It does have some spice and there's a twang that I cannot quite identify. This roll is a more "green" tasting likely due to the cilantro. It is worth a try. For real dazzle dazzle put some wasabi into your soy sauce, stir, and enjoy read more

My husband and I love coming here. The owners are so kind with great service,, and the quality of sashimi and sushi has been much better than every other sushi place we've been to in this area. They're very family friendly, and as long as you're okay with 00s pop music playing in the background, no complaints! read more

Placing my order and the gentleman says only one ticket per table so 2/3/4 of us like sharing orders. He also says limit 2 ticket per visit. Umm. The choices looks good You need to have patience when the food will come to you. My second order been placed while my wife wants to go. I assume she's not crazy about this place but I'm impressed with the nigiri as less rice than the places I been to. I recommend ordering that over the big rolls as the gentleman came to me saying any left overs 1 buck each more. Ok sir! I would give this place 2.5 for the service but the food is a 3! So rounded it off 2.75 Just adding on late as the rolls wasn't that great after 2 hours from the Illini game ! I wud gone their apps and nigiri only. read more

It's a pity because this place can be a hit in town. There aren't many places in the area you can get solid quality sushi. So Moki is a place that caught my attention when I saw their menu options. However, as many other reviewers have commented here, their service needs a lot of work. I didn't eat in but ordered carry out so I can't comment on the service when dining. However, when I entered the restaurant to pick up my food, no one was there to help me. There were people working on making sushi behind the bar, but l they did was stare at me and didn't say a single word. I waited for a while and someone came to ask me what I needed. No greeting. Just a what do you need. My food wasn't even ready by the estimated pickup time. I stood there uncomfortable and awkward, noticing how other people were being ignored as well. Anyways, long story short. This place could be worth visiting, but service could use a lot of work! read more

Very friendly service and great food! Cheaper than other options around the area and good quality as well!

I am from out of town and must say that this is truly the highest quality all you can eat sushi I have ever tasted. All the different pieces of fish we tried were flavorful and fresh. As we finished our plate, more orders came - there were no ridiculous delays. The servings were generous, coming with less rice so we could eat more fish. So clean and well decorated, I feel super lucky I got to try this place while visiting UIUC. read more

I like some of the more interesting things on the menu that aren't usually found like salmon skin salad. If you're into keto, that's the perfect thing to order. There's a lot of sauce and fried rolls. Not much variety in terms of what kind of fresh fish they use inside of them. Overall, I see the appeal to college students. read more

Moki Sushi is a new player on the C-U Japanese restaurant scene. Conveniently located near Harvest Market and the new Champaign Outdoors store, it is a fresh take that offers a casual dining experience for lunch or dinner. The restaurant interior is spacious and modern with stone, wood and neon used judiciously throughout. We tried the all-you-can-eat luncheon for $18.95. It surprisingly includes everything on the regular menu such as nigiri and specialty rolls. We sampled the spicy tuna, dynamite, volcano, and futomaki rolls. All were excellent with the proper seasoning and texture of rice along with plentiful portions of fresh fish. Your lunch also comes with your choice of salad and soup and hot tea. Service is friendly but a little inconsistent in terms of attentiveness. However if they can work out this bug Moki is going to give the other sushi joints in town a serious run for the money. Recommended. read more

I don't usually post reviews but the service here is absolutely horrendous. Waiting 10 mins in an empty line and at least another 20 at the table, you have to actively search for someone and the one server barely batted an eye at our table when it wasn't even a busy day. They would only talk to you if you speak Chinese and avoid to serve the other tables as much as possible. It's also so crazy to me how someone can forget to deliver food that's checked on a sheet but I didn't even bother to ask for em just wanted to get as far away from this restaurant as possible. The ones that got brought out are mediocre at best but I wouldn't even mind wasting an hour and half if it's good. Pls go hire more servers with ur forced gratuities fees cuz I will not tip a cent willingly. read more

This place can take their 15% mandatory tip and stuff it. $35.00 lunch and supposedly all you can eat my ass. They said you can only order 3 times after you already started on your 3rd, just cutting you off. Slow shitty service and I was the only one in there.. left pissed off and still hungry. I see this place closing soon... Theft buy deception...sad very sad. I won't be going back.. read more

Pros: Food-wise, it's a good bang for your buck Cons: Extremely terrible service. They took over an hour and 50 minutes to even get out one sushi roll from AYCE, and it wasn't even a busy day (there were 2-3 other parties of 2). I tried to speak to the waitress when she walked right by our table and she ignored me (I was speaking quite loudly too, saying "excuse me!"). I asked to speak to the manager, and they said the manager is "not working right now" and refused to let us get into contact with any sort of restaurant authority. This was by far the worst service I have received in any restaurant and I felt that I was not valued whatsoever as a customer. read more

I'm bummed. I wanted to like this place but the couple times we've gone it's just been not that great. The service is quite slow. At one point we were the only other table and we were ignored for well over 15 minutes so we bussed our own table and got our own takeout box. And even though the sushi rolls are decent, they were very overpriced. I think for 5 rolls our bull was $82. read more

Waited for 50 mins for sushi on a slow day. The sushi wasn't anything to write home about. We ordered the unlimited dinner for 2 people. They brought us an extra roll that we didn't order, then tried to charge us for the extra roll that was left over (that we didn't order). Subpar sushi with slow service; would not recommend. Sakanaya, Ko Fusion and Sushi Ichiban are all better than this place. read more

They sat us at a table next to a large, loud party. We asked to move to the bar which was fine until they decided they needed to move us back next to the large loud party. It took an hour for our sushi to come out and we didn't receive our appetizers until the meal was eaten. All that and the size of the bill was ridiculous. It was hard to feel welcome or valued as customers. I'm not looking for anything free, but to screw our meal up that bad and move us twice? It would be nice to be shown some appreciation for being so understanding. As it is, I'm not being terribly understanding. read more

Reading the reviews, I was a bit skeptical of this place. When I walked in, the cooks behind the counter looked at me. I sifted through the menus for a while that laid on the table. Someone did come to help me, I believe the owner, once I stepped towards the dining room. The service was actually really good. It was about 17:00 on a Tuesday and some people were finishing up eating. I was given a regular menu and a dinner all you can eat menu since I said yes to AYCE. There's a lot of choices so I chose to try a lot of appetizers. The food came out quickly. I tried the soft shell crab, calimari, takoyaki, and the crab rangoon. They cooled off pretty quickly, but I also eat slowly. The calimari was made of squid rings and were crunchy and tasty but nothing special. The soft shell crab was about half a crab and tasted good with the sauce. The takoyaki was cold by the time I got to it, but I eat slowly. It could have used more sauce. The crab rangoon was delicious. I got the sunny roll as well to start. It was really good. I do wish the wasabi aioli had less wasabi because it was over powering, but overall the fish was good. I then got salmon, yellowtail tuna, and sea bass. All three were delicious. I ended with miso soup and green tea mochi. You only get once piece, but by then I was full. Overall, the waitress was super nice and the food was delicious. I definitely felt I got my $27 (with tax) worth. I would recommend people to give this place a try, at least during not super busy time. read more

Best all you can eat japonese food in Champaign Il I really like this place, very good sushi for the price! All you can eat for only $24.99, it is amazing! Just be careful with the amount of food that you ask, because if you do not eat you will have to pay $1 for each piece that is left in the plate. Also, the nigiri is very good! Big pice of fish in each nigiri! Please follow me on Instagram @tryatreat read more

All you can eat sushi was a good deal. At 25$, I can see this being a good deal for people who have a lot of room in their tummies. However, it also depends on the kind of sushi you get too. I love sashimi, but at $25 all you can eat nigiri, I knew something was up. Some pieces were not edible and some were not up to par with Miga or Sakanaya, but I understand that. You get what you pay for, but still upsetting. The appetizers were good! I loved the fried oysters and Jalapeño bombs. As for the standard rolls, those were pretty good too. However, the worst part of it all was having an excruciating stomach pain the next morning. I really wanted to like this place, but I don't think ill be back. read more

This place was great! I went here for my birthday and we got the sushi boat. The two sushi boats with an extra appetizer and roll was around $210? Keep in mind that this is because the tip and gratitude fee (since I had apart of 15) was around 40 dollars or so. But I split the bill with a big group so it wasn't bad at all for what it was worth. The food was great overall! The only reason why I'm not giving it a 5 star was because it took a little longer than I thought. But to be fair, it was pretty busy. Overall, great experience! read more

It's a terrible, overpriced service. They surcharged me for 46% of the price of food. Among other things, they forced me to pay tips (minimum about 12% of the order), otherwise the order just does not go through. The order was wrong: they gave us the cheapest roll with "Imitation crab" instead of much more expensive roll that we ordered. If you only could, avoid them by all means. read more

This is a new place that opened in Chambana and my friend decided to take me here because he heard that this place is somewhat like Sushi Taku in Chicago. The place was big with nice decorations. I love the menu items and I thought pricing for AYCE was pretty high for a campus town, but I still gave it a try. The appetizers were pretty good besides the sashimi salad. We tried the calamari, takoyaki, fried oysters (these were freaking amazing), and the hamachi kama (so moist and juicy). The calamari was a bit tasteless which was fine because they gave us sauce for it. The takoyaki did not have much filling in there besides one piece of octopus. The fried oysters like I said previously were super good and I would definitely order them again if I decide to return. I thought the hamachi kama was really good and nicely grilled or baked covered in foil. The sashimi salad in my opinion was not good at all. The fish were still frozen because I tasted the ice melting my mouth when I took a bite of the white tuna? The first sashimi salad plate was fine, but the second one came straight up from the freezer. The plate was super cold when you move it from one side of the table to another. It was like eating ice and it hurt to chew using the back of my teeth cause it was too cold The sushi portion was really nice between the fish and rice. I didn't think I was eating a lot of rice compared to the amount of fish they gave. They did sort of messed up our orders, but I think it's normal at sushi restaurants. I haven't been to a sushi restaurant where they wouldn't mess up my sushi order. We ordered about 3 rounds before we were done. No complaints about the sushi at all. Dessert wise, I thought they were a bit skimpy? We were only allow to choose either ice cream or mochi. We thought we could try all the flavors of the ice cream, but we were only limited to one flavor. Other restaurants would allow us to get many scoops of ice cream even though we're limited to one mochi which is fine. Overall, if you're here just for some appetizers and just sushi then it's a reasonable price for $25. I wouldn't have super higher expectations like how my friend hyped me up for it. Not sure if I'll be back, but if you're someone that just needs a lot and need a place to pig out then definitely come here and get your money worth! read more

Nice sushi spot to try without having to go downtown. Very trendy decor. Good sushi and sashimi. I recommend sticking with the sushi & sashimi, the beef teriyaki was just okay and that section of the menu is served bento box style. So, it wasn't impressive. Customer service needs some work. No liquor license yet, and they charge for every piece of the all you can eat sushi that you leave, which is tacky, but I get it. Overall not a bad experience if you don't feel like going downtown. If you do though, stick with Miga read more

The service here wasnt terrible, I understand that they're understaffed and there was one person working in the kitchen, but at least the best thing they could've done was tell us they're backed up instead of serving 5-6 small tables that came after us. We made a reservation at 7:45, got seated at 8, and got our appetizers at around 8:45 almost 9. The smaller tables around us literally got their food first, ate, and left. They served us 4 plates of sushi we ordered, but I'm pretty sure we didn't get all of it since one person was in the kitchen. We talked to the waiter and he said it was okay to stay after closing, but we made plans to go somewhere and this restaurant wasted our time. We honestly should've left when it took 45 minutes for the appetizers to arrive. The service fee is already included, but we barely got service. read more

Great sushi, awful service. Waited 1.5 hours for the first round of sushi and another 1.5 for the second.

The food was delicious. Each menu item was beautifully presented and appealing with surprising flavors. Will definitely return.

Party of four, dined in for the AYCE on a Saturday evening. Initially it was busy but eventually died down. The good: For the most part, the fish tasted fresh. The bad: Our server never once asked how was everything. Occasionally she'd refill our waters but other than that she was silent. We filled out two sheets total for AYCE. On the first sheet we had ordered appetizers, salads, nigiri, and rolls. We received one of the appetizers out of a four, a soup we didn't order, two out of four salads, most of the nigiri, and then one correct roll and an incorrect roll. On the second sheet we reordered the appetizers we did not receive, more nigiri, more rolls, and dessert. We received the nigiri first, then ice cream cream mochi (who knows why we didn't receive this last), fifteen minutes later a couple appetizers on the list, and a couple of the rolls we ordered. We kept waiting for the rest, but nothing was coming. Asked for the bill, five minutes later our server comes with our last rolls and asked if we ordered them, we say yes however they had not given us items we ordered on the previous list, so we assumed those rolls were not coming (hence why we asked for the bill). Then the manager comes and asks why we ordered them, why we didn't talk to them about missing/incorrect orders, just completely unapologetic about service. The table adjacent to us was also having problems with their service. This place is not friendly. Apparently the customers deserve the blame if something (or in this case, a LOT of somethings) mess up. Oh, so for dessert we ordered a green tea ice cream mochi, a mango ice cream mochi, and a green tea ice cream. Our server arrived with...... A green tea ice cream mochi, and...... Huh. Two mango ice cream mochi. She said they were out of green tea ice cream. So what did she replace it with? MANGO ice cream mochi. read more

This was genuinely the worst sushi restaurant I have ever been to. They make their spicy mayo with regular mayo, not Japanese mayo. It tasted nothing like the original spicy mayo that most sushi restaurants have. The salmon tasted way too fishy, which is a sign that the salmon is not fresh. The sushi was so bad that me and my wife could not finish it, and we love sushi. That's how bad it was. Our waiter still charged us for our leftover sushi, even though we had no idea that the sushi was going to have fake spicy mayo on it. They should put a warning about the mayo before people step into this place. Save your taste buds and do not go here. read more

My fiance and I absolutely love Moki. We go in quite often. The customer service can be low, but the two waiter's are the only ones working, and hey bust their asses off. Same with the sushi chef. I ventured to the other side of the restaurant saying hello...that floor was drenched too. I was promptly turned around. They stated they closed at 10 and would not serve me. We have been there twice, both for all you can eat. The first time, it took us 90 minutes to get our sushi. We were in a group of eight, so that seemed a little understandable though still pretty bad considering they only have about a dozen tables in the restaurant. So we gave it another try. The two of us came in on a Saturday night at 7:30. We ordered right away. And then we waited. While we waited, I watched as customers served their own water (and the two tables next to them) because nobody came by their table. During COVID, not my favorite thing to see. At the table next to us were 6 college kids, and they were singing loudly because they were so bored. They kept getting up to watch the chefs make the sushi because they were bored and starving. Then, at 9:45, we got up and got the waitress's attention and asked her where our food was. She asked us if we had received it yet...the answer was no. 15 minutes later, the owner came out with our order card, dirty and clearly fetched from the garbage, and asked if it was right. We said yes, and shortly after 10 PM we got our first round of sushi. The restaurant was closing so the staff was mopping and putting chairs on top of tables. We were livid and demanded that they comp at least a portion of our meal. The owner refused and said not only could he not do that, he couldn't waive the 18% COVID service surcharge. So we paid full price + 18% for one round of mediocre sushi. The group of 6 boys from earlier were practically yelling when they were charged the same thing. We eventually disputed the charge with the credit card company, and they said they'd have to ask the restaurant. Well good thing the service is awful, because while we were on the phone with credit card, they called the restaurant three times and got no answer. Because they didn't answer, the credit card gave us a full refund. That was the best part of the dinner. Do not go here. They owner is disrespectful and ungrateful, and the service is consistently awful. read more
