I think I am more critical of Korean food because my mom cooks herself and has a restaurant, but I would give Bab Plus a 3.5 if I could. I think it has an okay variety of options but I'm never wowed by the food. This time I went with a group of friends, and I got kimchi fried rice. The other items we got were bulgogi fried rice, donkkaseu, curry with pork cutlet, and tteokbokki (not pictured). My fried egg had more raw egg white than it should have, but the others were fine. The flavor was okay, but I think it could've been better. The tteokbokki texture was good and my friends commented that the food coma was hitting. Inside, it's pretty calm and clean. The service was pretty quick for us too. They give you a buzzer and you go up to the counter and get your food when it's ready. They have water and take out containers on the side of the restaurant too. Overall, I gave it 3 just because it's okay but not amazing. There's not that many Korean places in town that are really good.

This is a good lunch spot for a quick meal. I will need to come back and try their soup noodles. Quality- I got the squid and pork rice dishes because I was really hungry. Overall, the food was average. It was well seasoned and marinated with their sauce but the meat was over cooked. The squid was a bit stringy and the pork was also a bit dry. The vegetables were cooked properly though. Quantity- for the price, this place used to give a lot more food. I had enough for lunch and dinner usually. Now they cut back quite a bit to just enough for lunch. Atmosphere- the place is clean and inviting. Lots of sunlight is able to get in and light up the place which I appreciate. Service- you just grab your food and sit down. No waiters or waitresses which is fine. They're usually accommodating here.

A #5 which is a spicy chicken dish with carrots, onions, zucchini, broccoli and lots of flavor.

Got take out and it was so good. We ordered bugolgi, spicy pork and spicy chicke . Great portions and rice, super fresh. Easy to get to and park right in front. Quick and easy.

I miss the taste of kimchi so much so I went there which is near the CRCE. I was so satisfied with the boo dae jji gae! Just what I want

Hands down my favorite restaurant in town. Miss its delicious food. The ordering system is efficient, you get a pager with your order and your food in less than 10 minute, no matter how busy it is. I love all the dishes that I have ever tried here - kimchi jae yook bok eum(spicy marinated pork with kimchi and veggies, BEST KOREAN DISH EVER), Seol Leong Tong(bland soupy dish that needs A LOT of garnishing), Boo Dae Ji Gae, kimchi fried rice, Ton katsu(crispy fried pork cutlet with amazing sauce), Soon dobu(another favorite). This is a great spot for a date, family reunion, huge group of friends and what not. I had my last meal here on graduation day and I miss it a bunch.

Bap plus's dduk bok ee is the best comfort food to order! I like that their sweet and spicy sauce for the rice cake are not overly flavored and saucy. The portion is pretty good and it also comes with a light soup on the side!

Please read: I think Bab Plus gave up on their business. I ordered Bibim bab today, and the worker did not put Gochujang, which is the main sauce for this. Imagine. Can you eat Chicken Curry without Curry? I called them, and the worker's reason or excuse was "because I work alone..." WHAT THE HELL?????????? What kind of excuse is this? Isn't it obvious that they need to deliver it back if they made mistakes? I did not see any kind of Sorry feelings, instead, I felt like he was being bothersome over the issue that he made. BibimBab without Bibim. FUNNY HAHA. I sincerely hope this business does not fall even harder to the bottom as a champaign resident. Oh by the way, this was not first time getting a wrong order here. Thanks for making me extremely mad again.

Bap plus is just your standard Korean restaurant. It isn't AMAZING, but it's not terrible.. The service is mediocre- you pick up your food from the counter when it's done. So there is no tip. I usually get the Seafood Soondubu (probably the better Soondubu you'll find on campus). Also got the Gamja-Tang, and it was decent. I was expecting a more hearty broth but it was very watery. There was also about 3 pieces of potato, which was a little disappointing. My friend got the Kimchi Galbi-Jjim and it was very intense in flavor and pretty salty even though we added water to it.. Pricing is pretty overpriced for what you're getting, but understandable because it's the only standard Korean restaurant in this area of campus.

Good food, large size and reasonable price. If it says it is spicy please believe, if you are not used to eating spicy Asian food, they have options that are not spicy. I recommend the Soon Doo Boo - Spicy tofu soup with kim chi Please follow me on Instagram @tryatreat

Definitely one of the best Korean restaurants on the UofI campus. Wide variety of menus, generous portions, and delicious food.

I know they're probably trying to save money but when I ordered Ton katsu (pork cutlet) I was highly disappointed. I've ordered it pre-covid and it was good! But post covid the pork is so thin you can't even tell there's pork until you bite into it and feel like you're eating deep fried jerky...lol I think this is a little much.

Mmmmm. Delicious Closure. September 29, 2015. Must be the Grand Opening special.

Food is tasty and great comfort food. The Korean Fried Chicken is my go to every time we visit Champaign.

I had the #7 (hot squid). It was delicious. Very glad to find it on the menu. It isn't easy to find.

The name itself is deceiving because they offer mostly Japanese types of items like bento boxes, udon, sushi, and what not. I was genuinely not impressed with their menu selection and was very sad to see their Korean items go. It's not as great as they used to be. To be honest, I'm shocked their still in business with how much their menu has changed. They have some decent deals for lunch combos, but other than that I don't know if it's worth going there. I'm sad to say but it's not a "Korean bowl." They need to change the name to J-Bowl to appropriately describe the current menu items they now offer.

Then you fill out a paper that lists all the ingredients. Easy and convenient. The medium sized bowls were way bigger than I expected and the fish was fresh with large portion sizes. Quality place. Hubby said "That's the freshest fish I had lately, we should bring that guy back with us to Peoria, except then he would start serving the crappy fish they got down there" Yeah...He's a little sushi jaded since our trip to Japan. I guess they serve other things besides poke here but I didn't really see another menu. The ambiance is pretty sterile with water as your only drinking option. However, it's a great place to grab a quick lunch or get take out.
