My sister has been searching everywhere for fried pork belly and kimchi since moving here from Seattle, and we finally found it at this restaurant, and it did not disappoint. We ordered the fried kimchi with pork belly from the appetizer menu, and it was absolutely delicious. It had the perfect balance of sweetness with just a little spice. We also tried the dumplings, which were great, but the dipping sauce really stood out, it made the dish even better. For our mains, we got the army stew and the kimchi soft tofu stew, and both were so flavorful and satisfying. The woman who took our picture was hilarious. Highly recommend this place, we'll definitely be back soon! read more

food wasn't that special because you cook it yourself, meats just normal and low cut. they set the table where a soup bowl was placed right behind my elbow, i couldn't see it nor knew it was there, can you guess what happened, yep a bowl of hot soup all over me , went to the kitchen to clean it omg no wonder i wasn't feeling good afterwards to my personal opinion they need a health inspection. they could've brought out some more soup, the price and rules are outrageous, they do keep and eye on you to make sure you're not sharing , they need a group price, but they can't make more money, the service bad the food bad i'll never return. read more

I had a terrible experience here. I dined in and ordered the beef rib soup. It didn't come with beef ribs. It came with thinly sliced beef in the soup- first of all, do not advertise you are selling a rib dish if you aren't going to be adding the actual ribs. The server who was a Latina female was on her phone talking to someone the entire time. Incredibly unprofessional. I had to ask for side dishes and a coke that I had previously ordered and she had forgotten and was sitting at the front not paying attention to her customers. She gave me attitude once I asked her again. When we paid to leave, they charged a 18% gratuity service fee- mind you I dined in with my husband. I have never heard of any place charging a 18% gratuity fee for two people dining in. Ridiculous restaurant. They are thieves. Do not go here!!! read more

Terrible experience! The meat was frozen, dry, and tasteless. We couldn't even finish it, and they talked about 'not fining us' like they were doing a favor. On top of that, they forced a 18% service charge for a small party. Total rip-off! Avoid this place. read more

I just moved into town and was searching for a KBBQ spot. This place was recommended. I ordered a la carte bbq and got the bulgogi and short rib. The portions are okay but the meat was not good quality, especially for the prices charged. It's also annoying that if you want to do all you can eat bbq, you can only choose out of 5 specific meats. The side dishes (e.g. kimchi, salad, potato) that came with the meat were all mediocre or bad, I didn't really eat them. The soup that came with it was extremely salty and honestly disgusting and dark for a miso soup. Overall, there just isn't anything good to say about this place. The service was mediocre/bad, I seemed to have a new waitress as she cooked my bulgogi on extremely low heat so the bulgogi was disgusting. And when I asked for a new meat because of her error, they refused! The waiter was also sitting at a table eating with her coworkers, and when she would check on us she had food in her mouth and was coming up from behind me. Not great hospitality. This would not have been as much of an issue if the food was actually good. I spent $86 for 2 people total. We did not drink anything besides water. This is a huge ripoff for the food you're getting. There also was a bug under my table. Overall, I was extremely disappointed and will literally never go back here. I have been to dozens of KBBQ spots around the country, and this quite literally was the very worst one I've ever had. read more

The restaurant was casual. We were seated during a slow period and received courteous service. Prices were high. We were scared off the unlimited BBQ with a warning about a $15 penalty if the meat wasn't finished (???!!!). The appetizers we had, a deep fried pot sticker and Korean chicken wings (pretty much tempura) were super fresh. They were hot enough to melt granite on contact! I ordered chicken cutlet. I was served a bowl of warm rice along with kimchi and cold veggies. Good. The cutlet was overcooked; the breading was dark brown and the chicken inside the breading was dry. They include a 18% "service fee" (tip) on the bill. My wife missed it and gave a tip on the top because the bill asked for a tip as well. So this is a mixed bag. We're not in Champaign/Urbana area often. This was OK but nowhere near epic. I do want to find Korean food near my home to give it another try. read more

Great food, terrific service. Lots and lots of food for the hibachi. Made for a wonderful date night. :)

One of the best Korean restaurants in town, the owner is amazing and makes sure her customers enjoy their experience.

The lady working here is very nice. The food portions are generous, and flavor if it is good. I like the very home like atmosphere, and like they're more modernized taste in music. Tastes better than it looks! Especially the Korean BBQ aspect of it. read more

I went there with my friend. We ordered fried chicken with soy garlic sauce and a hot pot. We loved the taste, which was thought to be close to the local Korean food. However, the ground there was greasy, and the serving people didn't say anything, which were two aspects that may be considered to improve. read more

We had such a good time eating here this afternoon. We had the unlimited Korean bbq and it came with so much food. Food that you can tell had been lovingly made. The owner knew we were newbies and stopped by our table often to give us tips, help us with best grilling practices, and answer questions. The restaurant was clean, bright, and comfortable and we would absolutely eat here again. read more

Beef bulgogi was some of the best we had in years. Restaurant was clean and service was very good. Food was out fast.

Food is great! The staff is very courteous and make sure you enjoy your food. Sitting outside is fun.

Whenever I go onto campus, my family will usually eat dinner here due to the lack of KBBQ nearby campustown. I think the service is great, everyone is very friendly and makes small talk. However, I don't think that the meat is the best. It was a bit salty, not really marinated, and I think there are definitely better options out there. I think that the side dishes were pretty good, large variety, however they do charge for extra bowls of rice. read more

Awful service. Never go here. Food is decent but the service is absolutely awful. There are places that respect their customers and this isn't it. Unless you're Korean. They tended to tables of 10 and ignored a table of 3. Serving larger parties before the people who came in before them. They brought water with no ice, brought our appetizers and beverages at the end of the meal and add an automatic 18% service charge for ignoring you. I asked for Rice and a beer and they asked me to get it myself. Acting as if the rice was too expensive to order another of. Worst dining experience of the year. Save your money for a clean place. read more

This place is pretty good. We got a combination of entres and plates to cook on the grill. The food was good but the service was not. It was our first time there and we had a lot questions and our waitress was not helpful or attentive. Never once refilled our waters and wasn't knowledgeable about the items on the menu. Another negative was the price. The entres were fairly priced but everything on the grill to cook was overpriced. St that point people are better off getting unlimited $40 deal (which is still not cheap). Overall, pretty decent food but nothing espectacular, a bit overpriced and the service could definitely improve. Also, be aware they always charge an 18% service charge. read more

We wanted to try something different, so we opted for Korean. We had six in our party, so we ordered a couple of appetizers and we each got an entree. Food was super salty (we had to keep asking for water refills) and the meat was not the best quality for the price. Service was ok, not overly attentive nor welcoming. Music was great, but the interior could use a deep clean. I mean, this is a campustown and we are used to dive joints, but at this price point, I would hope the window coverings and walls would get a wipe down every now and again. Maybe it is a ventilation issue? I like to support locally-owned businesses and rarely give negative feedback because of this, but for what we paid, I would think better quality across the board would be offered (i.e. cleanliness, service, attentiveness, food quality, etc.). I might go again, but not anytime soon. It was underwhelming to say the least. With all of the Asian food choices in town, there are much better choices for the price. read more

We ordered two dishes, a sliced beef and a T-bone steak, of which the sliced beef was very tasty and had a very authentic Korean marinated flavor. Tried out Masijta Grill for lunch. Ordered Bulgogi Lunch Box and for $11, was pleased with the amount of food. They use purple rice, which I'm fine with. Rice was slightly over cooked, which lacked the moist texture. Bulgogi was sautéed with a veggie mix. Salad had a nice citrus creamy vinaigrette dressing. Kimchi pancake had decent flavor, but was not very crispy. Pancake slices were hard to pick up and would fall apart. My friend ordered the Bulgogi bibimbop and he said it was alright. Overall would rate the lunch items a 3.5. read more

LOL. This is what I can only say. I ordered Soon tofu & short rib. Soon tofu tastes like an full of oil that does not even have a recipe for this and many parts in the Short rib is just fat and cartilage parts which I do not understand. In my opinion, the taste of this restaurant was never studied and they do not have any kinds of passion towards food. The soup's base tasted like a ready-made soup. The problem was, the "ready-made taste" did not even have good ratio of taste. I can't say no more than owner just consider this restaurant as her way of making money. Heavily disappointed. read more

Deceptive tipping. Be aware! Charge 18% tip as service charge ( it shows tip on customer copy but shown as service charge on merchant copy) which people may think "must pay". On the top of the receipt l, it says if no tip is added, 20% is automatically charged, which mislead the customer to pay tips again besides the 18% service charge. In the tipping suggestion calculation, the base they use is the (food price+tax+18% service charge), which means you are paying tips on the tips. End up paying over 37% of the pretax bill! I am gonna take legal action! read more

They have Korean food here but it's not the best I've ever had. They have a lot of options and also have KBBQ. Don't get their naengmyun, it's not good or their jjampong either. Their jongol or larger bowls are sorta worth with the portion size and sharable for 2-3 people. I would say mediocre Korean food at best but gives you more options in the area for your Asian palate. read more

Authentic good quality ingredients. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Multiple people checked on us throughout our meal. Each table has a burner for your BBQ. They have the largest selection of Korean soups I've ever seen. We ordered the kalbi and marinated beef for the grill and the SoonDuBu soup. If you want it spicy, ask for very spicy. They also provide plenty of traditional sides with each meal. They have all you can eat bbq options for around $40 bucks, but we barely finished the regular meal so that would just be too much food for us. Tuesdays are 20% off the all you can eat option. Reasonably priced for Korean BBQ. Our meal was $66 for two. read more

My first initial impression of the outside of this restaurant was "HUH" ? I was really nervous since there hasn't been a good Korean restaurant anywhere near me so i drove 1hr and 30 minutes to come here to try this. we were the first ones to be seated, the server was very pretty and very attentive. We were seated at the table where there's the grill because , i am the grill master ok? We ordered the Galbi and Bulgogi , and I ordered a kimbap for appetizer. my friend ordered a dilsot bibimbap. The meat came out pretty quick along with a whole table full of BAN CHAN my favorite part of a Korean BBQ experience! The server then set the meat on the grill for us and also showed us how to eat it the Korean style. She was awesome! we began eating , and WOW my taste buds exploded. The combination of flavors from the meat and the banchan side dishes along with wrapping everything up inside of a lettuce leaf, it was AMAZING!!!! it was sweet, sour (from kimchi), salty from the soybean paste, and neutral from the lettuce. Add garlic and jalapenos for more flavors and spice things up. the kimbap was rolled nicely, and the taste was very good, i don't have any complaints here. This was hands down the best "home" tasting Korean restaurant i've ever been to, taste just like mommy's cooking. We will continue to come here, and i hope the owner opens more restaurant near me. thumbs up up UP Good job Masijta grill, may you grill on forever read more

So when there's Korean food near me, I feel like I have this strange obligation to check it out. I got excited to know that Masijta Grill is close by to my new place and they had an extensive menu, deliver, and has good reviews. Let's begin with the service. Service was great! I went at a non-busy hour, but I was impressed by how diligent our server was and very attentive to our table. As mentioned above, they have a very large menu, ranging from Korean barbecue, soups, rice bowls, etc. Prices are a bit steep though since you might end up spending close to $15-$20 for a full meal. Even though they're not cheap, the food is quality and serving size is generous. Unfortunately, I felt like the side dishes that came with our food were a bit disappointing. I guess I've been spoiled by other Korean barbecue places outside of the Champaign-Urbana area, but I just thought the side dishes were mediocre. Besides that, overall, I was happy with my first experience at Masijta Grill and hope to come back again. Another plus side is the ease of parking. There are plenty of street meter parking spaces outside the restaurant and other places in downtown Urbana as well. read more

Fantastic service, amazing food. The best korean restaurant in CU. My family and I visited on a Friday night at 9, close to closing. We ordered two bibimbaps and one cold noodle. They were very accepting of modifications - i asked for no oil in my bibimbap and a raw egg. While we waited, they gave us a large assortment of banchans, the pickles radishes were the best in my opinion. Our food came not long after. The bibimbaps came first. The noodles came about 7-8 minutes later. Everything was delicious, and they even gave us a free refill of the banchans. I think they have one of the better korean foods I've tasted - and I've had a lot. Would highly recommend! read more

This place was definitely a refreshing experience for the location it is in. The price is a tad bit overpriced to what they served you. The meat was okay and under seasoned, but definitely not worth the price. The AYCE was $30 per person and I came as a group of 3. Usually, they would make you tip if the group is over 4. I am not stingy on my tips because I do believe that everyone should be tipping, but I don't think they should force the customer to tip... especially if it's only a group of 3. My bill ended up being $40 per person. Just AYCE and water will cost that much. Of course AYCE is "all you can eat" but they were also slow on giving us more meat which leads to longer eating times and less of an appetite. All in all, I do think it's a decent spot for KBBQ, just overpriced. read more

Best Korean food around! I've been dreaming of a place like this! We got the fried pork dumplings and spicy wings. The dumplings was crispy and served with some wonderful sauce and the wings were super crisp with great flavor! For our entrées all three of us shared the hot pot #2 beef and squid (spice level medium), order of spare ribs, and an order of the beef and seafood. All was phenomenal! Even the Korean beer was delicious. We will be back many many more times! The staff was friendly and helped us with our choices :) we'll be back! The outside patio is beautiful. The inside seems small, but you won't leave hungry that's for sure :) read more

Hubby and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Urbana-Champaign and we wanted a sit down place to eat. We were pleasantly surprised that they had two different AYCE Korean BBQ options. We went for the more expansive option for ~$40/person. They do bring you a platter of everything first. We had pork belly, lamb, spicy pork, chicken, beef, boneless rib and tongue. The meal came with soup and rice. We loved the variety of meats. The service was good, but we didn't really need the servers to cook for us. Sadly, after we finished the platter, we didn't have room for anything else! It was still well worth the money for the AYCE in my opinion. Btw, they automatically adds 18% gratuity to their checks. read more

Great food and service! We had the Korean BBQ (marinated beef ribs, pork belly), Korean fried chicken, and seafood pancake. I love how they serve you lettuce and side dishes so you can make your own Korean BBQ wraps and enjoyed the meat, veggies, and flavors with one big bite! Highly recommend the two grill dished we got. Korean fried chicken is also a must try. It is absolutely different than American fried chicken. Try it with the sauce on the chicken, as it was more flavorful (try garlic honey soy sauce. It is their specialty). However, it is a little pricey, especially if you come in a day where they don't have discounts. Check out other yelpers' photos for that. Tuesday is all the menu items 20% off! Also, remind your waiter to refill your side dishes and lettuce. They are the key to have a great grill meal! read more
