Pretty much an identical menu to Sushi Taku in Chicago, except the quality cannot really be compared. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and chose the AYCE option, and there was ample seating so no wait at all. We've been to Sushi Taku many times so that was kind of what we were expecting the dining experience to be like, however maybe that is not fair of me to hold it up to such a standard since they do not claim anywhere to be a sister restaurant (but the menu is pretty much identical with some names changed around!) The appetizers tasted like they were frozen/had been sitting out for a while, definitely not fresh or maybe the oil they were fried in needed to be changed. Even the edamame was not fresh. The sushi itself was decent, I personally had many sashimi pieces and they were pretty tasty. However, the rolls didn't really taste fresh or do it for my friend and me. Overall it's a pretty pricy experience considering the actual quality of the fish, but relative to the other places in Champaign this is the only one around that offers actual AYCE. I will give them some slack as we are nowhere near a major transportation hub that would give them access to fresh fish daily at a sustainable rate to run a sushi restaurant (nor is there really that big a demand). If I ever do have a craving for AYCE sushi and I'm on campus, Moki Sushi would be the place to be. read more

If you get over the terrible service, I would give the food 4/5 stars. The sashmi is really good for AYCE sushi. One complaint I have about the sushi is that many of their specialty rolls have too much cream cheese making it too dense and creamy. Came here three times and overall, it has a lot of room for improvement. Recommend this place for hungry college students who want to eat until they explode. Food quality wise, you have to be smart about what to get. Certain rolls and nigiris are good but others can be bad (miso soup was horrible and flying roe nigiri was unbearable). Diet coke/Coke didnt taste authentic as if they pour tons of water into it. Ordered it each time I visited and failed each time. In terms of Wasabi, I'm pretty sure it's really low quality, almost fake. I can't taste anything. You need good Wasabi to balance out the raw taste of nigiri and sushi, but the wasabi here is horrible. The worst part is the waiting time. Appetizer comes out fast because its prepared separately. But if you only see two sushi chefs and there are several parties in the restaurant, then good luck because you'll be getting your food in about a hour. If you want to eat without waiting a hour then go right after they open. read more

This place looks way better than it actually is. The inside is very nice but the wait staff was a little below average. They weren't openly rude but seemed annoyed as if we didn't know the difference between carry out prices and dine in prices (which are different). Then while we were waiting for our order we could see our waitress with other waitresses sitting together on their phones right in the seating area. Although those things were strange it was the sushi that made me never want to go back. I ordered the spicy tuna and it had no spice let alone flavor. I don't understand the other reviews. We have always had very good service. They make most of the items from fresh to order, so sometimes it's a bit of a wait. But.. the food is AMAZING! My husband lived in Japan for 10 years, and says Moki Sushi is the closest he's had to Japan in the U.S. And the all-you-can-eat deal is great, so it is also the most economical sushi in the area. They so charge us an 18% gratuity-- we gladly pay it because honestly, the food is worth it (and we usually eat so much here that I feel they deserve it! Our favorites: rainbow roll, salmon lover's roll, *all* the nigiri, sweet potato tempura, ceggie gyoza. And the Mai Thai was pretty awesome. The place was clean and the interior is great. The food was mediocre. The sushi was reminiscent of what you buy from the grocery store. It was bland at best. The dumplings were good but the dipping sauce was the best part of the meal. As for the price, it was reasonable if you just ordered individual rolls. The all you can eat would be ok except they charge you for each thing you don't eat. Personally I feel like that's double charging. Granted it's a nominal amount, but it's still a charge. We were visiting from a big city and never thought we would be having sushi here, staying at a nearby hotel, thought we would check it out, the review of all you can eat sushi and appetizers got us curious and this is not your average all you can eat!!! We are full and very satisfied, and look forward returning to visit again in the future!!! This is some pretty good sushi, especially considering it's the only All You Can Eat sushi place in the area. There are also some other options on the all you can eat menu, like chicken katsu and shrimp tempura. My absolute favorite was the sunny roll, but I substitute the caviar topping with tobiko. My friend and I came on a busy day, they didn't inform us they were severely understaffed and we waited 3 hours for one round of all you can eat.. we asked for a discount and they only gave us 30% but still included a mandatory 18% service fee. We went Friday for dinner. I was worried at the beginning because some of the reviews said the service is slow and fish isn't so good. After we placed we the order, the food came out fairly quick(probably because there are many staff working there now). I really appreciate the fish rice ratio, so that I don't feel like I'm stuffed by eating rice, especially the sake roll and nigiri. Volcano rolls a bit too creamy for me but, after getting rid of cream cheese it actually pretty good. Very flavorful. Speaking of flavorful, oh my, the mango tango roll is soooo good. It's got tempura shrimp wrapped inside and slice of mango topping with sweet and sour taste. Very very good. The mochi ice creams are so good as well. We also order some appetizers(several times). Baby octopus salad and seaweed salad are my favorite. There will be a couple think slice of ginger in octopus salad so be aware. Soft shell crab, I've had better ones. But this is all you can eat for 25 bucks so I totally appreciate that they offer that. I tried the gyoza as well, it was as bad as previous review said. Overall we love it, I think it prob because we didn't order items taste bad or fishy. For 25 dollars all you can sushi, OMG. Totally worth it. Exceptional food! Our party got the AYCE option and the negri pieces were all quality, the sizes of the rolls were HUGE! We definitely got our money's worth for the price. We are everything we ordered as to not pay the $1 per piece penalty. There was only one person for the waitstaff so it took a while for orders, refills, etc but they were keeping up fairly well for only one person. I ordered aN appetizer of Edamame and then asked the waiter if the spicy White Tuna toll was Gluten Free. He went to check with the kitchen and came back to asssure me that it was indeed gluten free. But as soon as I bit into the roll I knew it had tempura flakes in it which are absolutely not Gluten Free. I ended up having him come back and ordered a salmon cucumber roll instead. The service however was obviously lacking and most of the servers seemed to be college kids whom didn't care. The one who seemed to be the manager looked like the only one doing work as I watched him serving, tending a register, and so forth while all the servers stood by the bar and talked. Our server never came to ask how anything was or if we wanted refills so when the manager-like person came to take empty plates so I took the opportunity to ask so he took 5 steps towards the bar and could hear him angrily whisper to tend to us. All of the servers also went on a food break together as well leaving one person (the manager) to tend to tables despite him obviously being busy doing other thing, clearly showing how little they care or how little experience they have. I've also tried to order online twice but never had my order accepted (apparently they manually accept orders) and now I know why. The service is slow and not particularly friendly, but the place itself is nice and the sushi is consistently good. The spicy crispy tuna roll is perhaps one of my favorites of any sushi place I've been to. Others are hit or miss - but I have yet to have anything truly terrible. If you can go in knowing the staff will barely acknowledge your presence and you'll wait probably a solid 30 minutes for all your food to come out (keeping in mind the work that goes into all those rolls!), then you should be happy with your experience here. read more

I've never really liked all-you-can eat sushi places but I really like this place! The service is fantastic! We went on a super busy night, but the servers were still super nice and brought us everything we needed. The nigiri pieces are great, perfect proportion of fish and rice. I've never seen another place using so little rice for all you can eat. The sashimi salad is great! And I love all the appetizers, especially the soft shell crab. For 5/11/19, this particular day gets a 2-stars. I usually give it a 3.5-4 stars but these are on days where there are very little people and staffs are chilling and talking. The quality is actually decent for an all you can eat but obviously not compared to legitimate non all you can places but it has its appeal to the college students. I normally go with my friends and enjoy my time but never go during times of the week if there is a big event near or moving day at UIUC. The waiters and host are very nice and caring but management really is terrible. Management does not know how to strategize when there is a large influx of people. Instead of delegating duties to serve people that ordered the main course, they will focus all their manpower to try to quickly sit everyone that is waiting for a table. There will be at least ten plates of sushi waiting to be taken to their designated tables but because they chose to prioritize seating people, the people that ordered will have to wait 20-40 mins extra for their finished prepared sushi. My friends and I came there at 630pm and got our first plates at 720pm. We saw it finished well before 700pm but no one will take it to us. Again, I don't blame the staff, they are understaffed. There will be a sign outside saying they are hiring all positions, but this may be a red flag because of management as there use to be more waiters. They also don't have a waitlist signup so everyone is arguing over who was first. The design of the restaurant is not the greatest as the sushi chefs are positioned right in front of the entrance/exit so once it gets crowded due to waiting, hard for staff to get to the plates. This may have been their first time having this many people and dealing with guests waiting for tables. It is a new place and getting increasingly popular but I would save the hassle and go on typical day not like during graduation week like us. read more
