Checked out the new restaurant in the area a couple weeks ago and it was great! The food was really good! My husband had the burger and I had the chicken sandwich! They haven't had their grand opening yet so I can't wait to see what else they roll out on their menu! I had the margarita and my husband had a captain n come. If you are looking for great (or even just so so food) and excellent service...keep looking. We love going to Evie's next door and since this place is owned by the same people, we were excited to try it out. We went for my mother's 79th birthday. She had the sea bass which was small leathery overcooked sad piece of fish, I had a burger which I wanted cooked "rare" - it arrive with a toothpick declaring "rare" but was tough and brown through and through...my father ordered the fish and chips..we were all underwhelmed. The service was slow. The manages had her nose hanging out of her mask..I mean...never again. Sloppy and sad...no effort to even inquire what we thought as the nigh progressed. We stopped here while boating and found the docks to be very adequate we wanted to eat at the tiki bar but a 30 minute wait so walked next door to the point. Very nice inside and found ourselves on the third floor. Got a table immediately and had to wait a bit fir service. When service arrived about 15 minutes we ordered drinks and subsequently food. Drinks were great and food was fantastic. Blue cheese burger done perfectly and was great. Fries also done just right. Service was fantastic after a slightly slow start. The view from there was amazing and now I can't wait to go back. I almost hate to write a good review because I want to keep this place quiet. So service was great once started, food was great, view fantastic, bathrooms very clean, hostess pleasant, covid precautions also great (all workers had masks), docking easy fir boaters and noise volume was low. read more

I wish a ZERO was allowed. We had decided to give the place another try after a disappointing 1st experience they did a great job building the place just havent got it up and running properly considering the amount of places they own. Having company in for the weekend we called 4 days prior to book an outside table for 730. After arriving on time and asking to seated the kid looks down at the reservation sheet and with a perplexed look says uh let me see where the he wants to seat you. He calls over the host points in our direction and host looks as his watch and realizes he screwed up our reservations. I had looked down at the sheet and saw our name had been crossed out as table was given away. After 10 minutes of him sending servers up and down to look for a table we still were waiting. He didnt even have the courtesy to tells us anything. When I asked him if he gave away our reservation he flat out lied and made up every excuse, none of which made any sense. I asked why our name was crossed out. No answer asked why didnt you call as our number was right there no answer. He did say that we now had seating preference over everybody who walked in without reservations and would get the next best available table in another 15-30 minutes. never had the decency to admit his mess up. Our ruined evening became more frustrating with each lie. When I told him it was BS he threatened to remove me and said dont talk to me like that. I encouraged him to try. WE left and spent our money elsewhere. Management needs to put him in a place where hes not required to deal with the public. certainly not someone you would want representing your establishment. Perhaps a food runner would be more appropriate. Ashame the restaurant has potential but we wont be giving them any of our business. read more

Service was horrible. Sat upstairs for over 10 minutes, no server ever came. Moved downstairs, service was just as bad. Didn't get our appetizers right and then when they did they tasted awful and had to send one away. The server didn't come back for a long time to take our entree orders. Lobster Mac and cheese must have been canned it was so bad. Horrible vibes, dirty tables, overpriced, slow service. Won't be returning. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. It's not what it seems. The view was wonderful. The food was good. The service was pleasant. We were pleased, and I followed the restaurant on Social Media certain that I would bring family there when visiting. I even reached out to them about hosting a company office party there in early December- note, the lovely woman who worked down at the Tiki that took my info never had anyone get back to me on that. But that's all just as well. I was STUNNED to learn that this establishment was open on Christmas Eve until 9PM and then open on Christmas Day at 5pm. I certainly hope the owners are also working those times with the staff they are 'asking' to work. There's a time for making money, and a time for letting your team be with family and friends. If you can't make enough money the other 364 days of the year, you're doing something wrong. read more

got 2 lobster rolls.....barely enough meat for 1 roll....and it didn't taste very well... they must have dropped their food standards and decided to over charge for mediocre food. very disappointing, cause it used to be good. won't be back here anytime soon. read more

My husband and I at here - I would say that this is one of the best restaurants we have been to this year. The crab cake was outstanding, hardly any fillers. For dinner we shared the filet mignon, shrimp and crab cake dinner - which was also outstanding and the filet mignon was cooked perfectly. We went here specifically for the sunset that night and we were not disappointed. Highly recommend this restaurant - casual and abided by CDC guidelines. read more

MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!! The view and food are exquisite. The point is ..."on point" :)! Such a lovely atmosphere!! Being able to have a relaxing evening watching the sunset or even just going for lunch and enjoying the view is so incredible. I've tried the grouper sandwich, fish and chips, clam chowder,bangin' shrimp, blistered peppers, chicken tenders, and herb chicken sandwich. YUM!! I have not been disappointed. Everything is amazing!!! The bartenders make amazing cocktails - try the blueberry Mojito! Seriously, if you have not tried this place.... stop what you're doing, grab a friend and go! read more

If we were talking about Service and Atmosphere alone, this would be a 10! Beautiful place and great staff. I just NEED to talk about the charcuterie board for $10.00. Price point if not bad, BUT - this was not a charcuterie board. There was rolled up lunch meat stacked up in the pile. Then the sliced block cheese from Publix aka Cracker Barrell. No, blue cheese, no Gouda, no goats milk. My point is they used processed lunch meat and processed cheese. No mustard. Did I mention the Ritz crackers! I'm so mad I didn't take a picture. Anyway please take another shot at this. Charcuterie Boards are a popular and fun appetizer for groups to share. Definitely skip this one. read more

Recently had lunch here with friends. I have been a fan of The Point for some time now and usually order the grouper sandwich which I did last week. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The fish portion was about half the size they have served in the past. The worst part was the preparation which I ordered blackened was serve greasy and undercooked. The taste was bland. My wife ordered the Cobb salad with salmon. It was ok but the salmon portion that was served was very meager compared to previous experiences. Something has changed at The Point. I understand that they lost their former chef who has been replaced with the cook at the adjacent tiki place also owned by Evie's. The tiki bar food has never been good. Now I'm guessing they are trying to improve their margins at The Point by trimming down their serving sizes. Anyway, won't be going back there again unless future reviewers convince me that they have turned things around read more

There are actually two restaurants here, one a Tiki Bar and the other is a three story restaurant. I understand the two have joint ownership. We ate only at the Tiki Bar, three or four times, and very much enjoyed it. The food was consistently great, very good service, great view and pleasant environment. Margaritas were excellent. Even my wife, who is pretty hard to please, loved everything about the Tiki Bar. read more

They have outdone themselves with this place. Beautiful new building, breathtaking views, spot on friendly service and delicious food. This place has something for everyone. The main 3 story building is a little more upscale with panoramic sunset views of Sarasota Bay. The menu is more upscale than other Evie's establishments and it is a welcome offering. They are still family friendly offering some under 12 meals as well, which was a blessing as my 6 year old does not quite have the refined palette for the adult entrees yet. Before we left we walked down to the Tiki hut to check it out. It is a more casual atmosphere and had different menu selections. Our next visit, which will definitely be soon, we will likely sit at one of the tables by the Tiki hut so the kids can play by the water. My only regret is not visiting this place sooner. read more

We came to The Point for the second year in a row as a company outing! We had a section of the third floor blocked off for dinner & drinks, with about 30 of us, everyone had a different variety of fish, burgers, chicken and appetizers and more (which there were no complaints from anyone in the group). Our servers were on top of making sure beverages were topped off before they got too low. After dinner we made our way to Marker 38 the wonderful Captain Joe and his skipper Pam were very accommodating to this large group of partiers. We were able to bring aboard any beverages we wanted and they provided plenty of ice, water & sodas. We got to see nature along the way and ended with a beautiful sunset. Our company has given non stop compliments and we can't wait to return for another end of tax season party next year! read more

Great new place on the bay - super views, and good happy hour offerings before 5PM. We had the blackened grouper sandwich (very good), and lobster roll (also good - cold, with lots of lobster meat). Their clam chowder is really good as well (rivals that place on Siesta Key!). The only ding is that it's a tad on the pricey side for a casual dining place (hence why we went with sandwiches). read more

We where somewhat disappointed today when we went to the point again.Because the service and attetud of the server was not very conginual. The serving site of the chicken tenders where almost 1/2 the size when we had it in the past. The music from the Tiki bar was so loud you could hardly have a conversation with your friends at the table. We live here and liked to go back there and enjoy the place and beautiful view. read more

Upstairs bar is incredible. Very classy yet casual. Devoid of branding and tacky paper table tents. A clean and natural waterfront view with a great cheeseburger "the Point Burger" High;y recommended. Try a classic cocktail from the menu, worth the extra buck. ;) read more

Nice view. Lobster roll was terrible....wrong bun and no real chunks of lobster meat. Some off putting spice with lobster. Bar service needs some serious improvement. Bar gal needs some help. At one point while waiting for drinks, I asked a young man behind the bar if he was a bartender and he said no then proceeded to start making drinks. Maybe he was the service bar guy but a little framework is needed here. read more

Beautiful location but the food did not match up! The lobster rolls had some strange seasoning. Risotto was the consistency of lumpy rice not "creamy" as the menu suggested. Went to dinner with friends. Three of us had their prime rib special and one had grouper tacos. The prime rib looked horrible like it had been reheated several times, no flavor and very tough. The grouper tacos basically had over cooked dried out grouper on stale flour tortillas. We were very excited to try The Point. Excellent view and coastal decor. And that was about it. The staff seemed inexperienced, the bartender was reading drink recipe books to make drinks. Which resulted in a long long wait for our drinks. The good was also disappointing. I had a lobster roll which was shredded lobster on a thick hoagie roll with an overpowering tarragon mayo. I have never not finished a lobster roll in my life, but this one was inedible. My husband had the shrimp scampi with crostinis. Translate: shrimp floating in clarified butter with barely a hint of garlic. Not sure what is happened here. I believe The Point is owned by Evie's, and they know their way around the restaurant biz. Maybe due to Covid they are struggling. Let's hope in 2021 they train their staff and get a better chef. read more

After hearing rave reviews was excited to experience my husband's birthday dinner at this restaurant. Ended up being disaPOINTEd. We were a party of six and three of the dinners were inedible. A filet mignon ordered medium rare was over cooked and in no way resembled a filet. Despite my husband's objection I called the waitress over and she returned it to the kitchen for a new portion. The re-fired steak came back 45 mins later and put in a takeout box since everyone was done. No one other than our waitress apologized for the ruined dinner even tho the chef was greeting diners in the dining room when he should have been in the kitchen attending to his business. Had no complaint w the view of the bay and our waitress' service. Drinks and appetizers were also okay. read more

Man what a great meal!! Particularly for a new place! The scallop dinner over risotto was/is the bomb!! I did't agree with the words lobster stew, cause I don't like stew but this soup, oh my! Went to the point tonite and went to the bar level. Drinks were good and reason priced. Staff very pleasant. The food leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was 3 pieces the size of fish sticks and over battered and oily it came with Fl, coleslaw that was dry and tasteless tartar sauce. The cost was $16.00 and not worth half of that. I would go back to the bar but would not eat there again any time soon. Sorry to say. The place is beautiful and the view is great. Hope food improves read more

We went to The Point for a casual later afternoon lunch. The view sitting outside on the 2nd story was great. We started of with a few cocktails, and the crab cake appetizer. They were very accommodating when asked to make a virgin cocktail. The blackened Grouper sandwich was very good along with the burger. But the Parmesan truffle fries were incredible. We wanted to order more. All in all we will be coming back frequently as it is great spot to catch up with friends and family while diving into some good eats. read more
