I asked for the items to be ready off, met with a grunt and groan but read to me none the less, close to fifteen or more in total. Forgive me if I stumble upon the exact names - the chicken asada, avocado and cambia stuck in my head and upon completion I asked for my total - $25. & change. Seemed kinda pricey and when I got inside my mind was partially absorbed by the cool surf decor and the woman writing checks at the counter who barely raised a brow to my presence. An older fella was in the back preparing - it was Tuesday at noon, a table of clucking hens outside, myself and two additional workers inside. Both visually unhappy bloated people that had an unpleasant stare and aura. My food was doing upon the counter in such a uncared for way that I thought to myself "this can't possibly be mine", it was. On the bright side of matters, the tacos were dense with the assigned ingredients, heavy chicken, fish and avocado to be sure. And remember three stars isn't a bad review, but there was a few things about the place I just didn't like. This is a quaint house that has been converted to a restaurant, or taco shack. Tacos weren't all that good, the burrito was about 80% rice, with very little else. Flavor on the tacos were good, but not in line with the price, or anything to get excited about. Looks like microwaves and crock pots are the preferred mode of cooking- which isn't a bad thing, but the flavors coke across as such This is a small business that also has music- so perhaps this is more of a music venue and less of a taco shack. This was our first visit, and primarily to see renowned blues musician, Kevin Burt. This is an interesting restaurant/venue, located in the Village of the Arts in Bradenton. It sports a large front yard, a tiny kitchen and inside dining room, and a huge backyard patio and stage. The menu consists of appetizers, tacos, burritos and a few salad/platters. Beer, wine and a few spritzers fill the drinks menu. Food was delicious, the backyard comfortable and accommodating. Service was warm and friendly throughout. Kevin Burt was outstanding! What's alarming is the AMOUNT of bad reviews there is because of this same person... and the fact that it continues to be a repeating aspect in the bad reviews tells me a lot about little they take into account the input they receive. I don't think I'll come back nor suggest it. The food was not bad, it wasn't bad tasting, it wasn't salty, it was good. The artistic vibe come thru in the food. But our hostess/waitress was so un-inviting. She was not friendly at all. She threw the paper menus at us and they went flying all over the table. She was very short with words. Never asked us if we were ok, if we needed more drinks, if we liked the food. We are polite people and we have manners, so we said thank you a few times but she never returned with a basic "you're welcome" But what is funny is that she was so nice, so friendly, so talkative to the table right behind us. A very noticeable difference between the was she treat us to the way she treated them. Was it because they were the same color as her? Was she bothered that she had a second table? Because she was very happy, talkative and attentive to the others but not to us. It's like our presence bothered her. I just don't appreciate that I'm receiving a different level of service when I, just like the rest, am paying for the same service and food. Her "service" made us feel unwelcome, uncomfortable and made the experience unpleasant. Maybe if she had been at least well mannered and polite my review would be different but, from the very beginning she set the bad vibe with her rude demeanor and cold attitude. read more

I love Bird Rock Taco Shack! It's located on 13th and 13th in the Arts Village near downtown Bradenton. The tacos are amazing. They have meat options, fish options and vegetarian options for tacos. I have had the BBQ Chicken Taco, the Beef Short Rib taco, the Beet and Goat Cheese Taco (one of my favorite veg options), the Korean Short Rib taco, and several others. The flavors are amazing! This place has table service inside of an old redone home. The atmosphere is fun. The service is great. The food is a little pricey but you get well done tacos and burritos for that money! No fountain drinks available. Just stuff by the can. They frequently have live music. Parking is on the street where ever you can find it. You will want to return to try more stuff on the menu. read more

Good food, cool outdoor area in back, but whether you eat in the front patio, inside, or outdoor area, flies are everywhere and a major nuisance. Indoor/outdoor fly mitigation is not difficult for a restaurant to do, yet they choose not to implement them. Not sure why. But it keeps me away on a regular basis. Always plan for more servers when you have an act like Lauren Mitchell. Our poor server was so over his head, I felt bad for him. He said it was the same way on Wednesday night, so they should have known to add staff. It took an hour for us to put in an order, and about 40 minutes to get our food. The food was cold, but edible. The server basically tossed all the plates on our wobbly table and we sorted them out. Music was amazing, great sound, ambiance was okay. By the way, there's no parking. Stopped by Bird Rock while checking out Bradentons Village of the Arts. Y'all. This is not Tex-Mex. This is yummy wow bougie amazing eclectic chef-inspired fabulousness. It made all my taco dreams come true. I had a pork belly taco that had so much tender meat. And pineapple and other yums. I Had the queso garnished with delicately fermented veg. I was there for a "snack" but must go back soon for full on dinner. My friend had a taco with a type of cerviche fish magic. Went to BirdRock to see the Curtis Selgado blues show. What a terrific evening. The music was just great with Curtis being blues classic. His band of musicians were right on. Great venue to see him play. The food was just right, the tacos were delicious and the service worked hard to please. Really nice to be able to see a top notch band in a backyard setting. What a great, dog friendly find! It's located near LECOM Park which is great for dog nights at the ballpark. We tried a couple of different tacos. Decent craft beer list. Tasty and great service. They have live music which unfortunately we missed due to the ballgame. There was also an art show going on in the area. Nice shade for our puppy. Offering such a creative taco menu, i really wanted to love this place. It has everything i could ask for in a taco restaurant: vegan tacos and a beautiful outdoor patio that is dog friendly. But the problem is my fiance and i ordered 6 tacos from omni to vegan and none were great, at best, they were average. In order of worst to average tasting: The eggplant greek fusion taco, the thai brussel sprouts taco, & the avocado taco are the ones i ordered. Out of the 3 vegan tacos i ordered, i was only able to actually eat 1. The other 2 were not palatable. There is no parking other than street and even on a midweek dinner we walked a block, so i wouldnt suggest for you to come out of your way to gamble on this one. My fiance fared a little better with the meat tacos. He ate all the meat tacos but he wasnt impressed given the good reviews. read more

This was one of the worst meals I've ever had. We sat outside and ordered six tacos total for the table and the guacamole app. Guacamole was under seasoned and underwhelming with store bought chips. All of the tacos were disgusting. Some of them had goat cheese - it was like a block of goat cheese with a little tomato in it. All of the food was absolutely terrible and very very overpriced. The only ones who seemed to really enjoy the food were the tons of flys that were surrounding our table and food the entire time. Service was subpar at best. We will not be back. Funky little joint in the Arts area of Bradenton. They have a number of taco options priced from $3 to $8 each-vegan options as well as chicken, seafood and meat. I had the Korean BBQ and the Pork Carnitas. The server said that the most popular was the Fried Green Tomato Taco. Both tacos were delicious! We visited at about 7p on a Saturday night and nearly every table was full. We were seated quickly and service was friendly and adequately attentive. Anything lobster is very tasty. I got the BBQ chicken taco which wasn't that tasty. The bbq was not flavorful, it lacked salt. The carnitas taco was so good. Flavorful and tender pork. The lobster cold water taco was my favorite. The lobster was seasoned so well. Just all together a scrumptious bite.
