A Relaxing Lakeside Experience with Great Food & Service This was our second visit to this quaint seat-yourself restaurant. With indoor seating, a cozy patio, and tables on the lawn, we chose the latter for a peaceful view of Lake Worth lake. The setup creates the perfect backdrop, complemented by a refreshing breeze. Both times we've been, there was live music--this time, karaoke--which made for a fun atmosphere. Service started off slow, but thanks to Trisha, our waitress, the experience was completely turned around. She was attentive, friendly, and truly saved the day by quickly taking care of us, after we had waited quite a while. Her warmth and efficiency made the visit extra special. As for the food, we went with our usual--the three-piece catfish basket, which comes with French fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw. Everything was fresh and delicious. The margaritas were just as enjoyable! After dinner, we took a short walk down to the edge of the bluff overlooking the lake and relaxed on a nearby bench, soaking in the peaceful surroundings. I've been coming here since it was El Campo. I used to love coming to The Point because it's close to home and "usually" a great place to hangout. But, here lately the staff are incompetent, slow, and rude. The food has become sub par, and it comes out extremely late and sometimes cold. They are loosing business because of the staff and they have a high turnover rate on staff due to lack of good management. They need staff who know how to not only run a business, but get customers to come in, ie; events such as live music, college night, etc, and not just depend on locals, Lockheed employees and regulars to keep the lights on. As a regular to this established, I'm tired of having to ask multiple times for my order, going to get my own drinks, or having to remind the bartender or waitress for my drink. They do not hold themselves accountable. read more

If you're in this neck of the woods and are totally into dive bars, look no further! We had the club sandwich to split, and then shared the corn bread and fried okra. All three were excellent!! We sat at the bar (there was some kind of party with a DJ taking up the entire front dining area). The bar area is small (just what you'd expect at a dive), and the bartender was quick to refill and helpful in helping us decide on food. This is a little out of the way for us, but if we're back that way, I will order the exact same thing...probably the best club sandwich I've had in a long time!! read more

Docked the boat, climbed the aweful unmaintained trail up to the restaurant to discover it was closed for a private party. That keeps people from trying again later. This is a fun casual restaurant on Lake Worth with a view of the lake. Inside seating or outside in the sun or shade. All have lake views. The service is friendly and efficient. We were here around 5 on a Thursday. It wasn't real busy, but two large groups were gathering at two big tables. The beer battered onion rings were awesome. The fried catfish, French fries, fried okra and coleslaw were fresh and tasty. All of the hot food was very hot. The frozen mango was very good. Point on the Lake was 10 minutes away. Curb appeal: (3 stars ) Ambiance: (2 stars) - when you enter - you feel like you're entering a banquet room. But you are encouraged to sit wherever you like. Okay. Into the cozy bar I chose. Service: (4stars)- super friendly staff. So much so- that when we decided to sit outside- they brought an extra fan. And when friends phone hit 4% they supplied a charger. Now about the food. Onion ring. Cut fresh, cooked to order. 16 or 32 rings on a plate. $8? For 16? Idk. Honestly, the food and ambiance are great. The Point has been one of my favorite places for several years now and we've watched and supported them through the trials of covid, changes in management, cooks, menu, etc. But we way we were treated over our last visit is enough to keep us away for good. We were lead to believe we were buying beers during happy hour but if that was the case, they had to be $16 a glass at non-happy hour times. No longer a fan. It wasn't just a misunderstanding, it was a clear deception that our choice of beer wasn't included in the happy hour. We were told it was happy hour and not informed of any exclusions. Trying to rectify the bill became a chore and a follow up call to the manager produced only hostility. Our waitress seemed to forget that we existed. Such an interesting dining experience! We were seated right along Lake Worth - beautiful scenery. It took an hour for us to get our food. They were out of a few items, and they did not anticipate the rush. The food was very good- catfish fried and seasoned perfectly, slaw was made well. Because of our long wait we were given dessert on the house. We chose the cheesecake and the cherry pie. Both items were served completely frozen! Haha and when I asked our teenage waitress what happened she said "our cheesecakes come from Cheesecake Factory, and I think the cherry was from Safeway. It came frozen, so I put in the microwave to heat it up a bit" my friend was flabbergasted! Hahaha The cherry pie was white - it clearly needed to be baked because it had ice chips on it lol Our entrees were scrumptious, and the young girl did her very best.
