I have eaten their Chicken Parmigiana and Chicken Marsala, both dishes exhibited delicate flavors that were distinct and balanced. Best Italian food in El Dorado County. Other Italian restaurant's sauces are somewhat coarse and are not made fresh for each order. I have dined there 3 times and have thoroughly enjoyed every meal. Tolerated the ridiculously long wait times for food in the dining room, as well as Virginias terrible service at the bar as long as we could. Stopped going. Decided to give em another shot. Longer wait times than before, the same lack of service. Bread missing from to-go orders and so on. The last straw was calling in to order and being asked to hold. Been craving meatball pizza and this place has got it! Wished they used a ricotta or buratta cheese with it because I love soft gooey cheese with my meatballs and the mozzarella they used was just like the base covering and I wanted more. The "hot bath" appetizer with the rosemary flatbread was delicious. Next time I want to try it with the anchovies! BD had linguini with meatball. He said it was okay. I thought the sauce looked a little runny, I like sauce that sticks to my noodles. Service was super duper. Cute place, love the set up. This place is horrible!!! I've tried several occasions to come here. Dine in, with and without reservations, and take out. Was turned away without reservation. Understandable. Was told they couldn't accommodate my reservation. Wtf. Called another time for pick up. Was told to call back in 20-30 mins. Called 30 mins later and was told sorry couldn't do it. Included with our lunch was bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread is out of this world. Pizza crust too. Everything, delicious. Well, I typically don't post reviews but sadly we had a poor experience. The ambiance is bad. Very loud and the lighting is way too bright. The food was good but our pizza arrived 15 minutes before our guests pasta arrived so we awkwardly ate while trying to wait for theirs . Also, they were understaffed so service was slow. Finally, they didn't have beer on the menu but the server knew what was available. When the bill came I paid $9 for a draft beer which is very high. I have been here once since they moved and had the most horrid experience. The family friendly atmosphere is gone. When I walked in, I was greeted with a look from the hostess that was more like one you would give someone you hated. I had a phone order (wonder if that was the problem?), and it had been taken about 20 minutes earlier, before we arrived. That order was not touched and I had to wait in the cold reception area, very bright lights, and a very loud singer of which I know caused me to lose hearing. The fine restaurants I've been to had dim lighting which is so relaxing and romantic, if that's what you're hoping for. This place did not make it, as in speaking of fine restaurants. They could take a lesson from Horatio's, for instance, in San Leandro on the coast. There, they have dim lighting, very friendly employees, and some of the best fine food I've ever had. In fact, you would have thought the employees were told that we were royalty, that's how they treated us! Not at all a comparison between these two restaurants. I received a cold reception from the hostess at The Place, and the cook. Honestly, I believe that I detected a hint of haughtiness from the employees/owner. I wonder what they could have possibly thought as to why they deserved to feel that way? I froze nearly to death it seemed, waiting for about an hour for my food. The food really didn't seem as good at all, as they used to make it, like a common-place pizza. I don't think it was made like their normal food, even then. The next morning I came down with Covid, which I amost died from. I know that freezing for about an hour didn't help, whether I had Covid or not before that visit. The only reason I didn't give a five star review is it was very noisy. They need some sound absorbing tapestries and carpets. I really wanted to like The Place. We live nearby and we would love to have a good local restaurant to go to. Unfortunately, this is NOT the place. We went at 5:30 on a Wednesday night. They were not super busy but with only two servers we knew the service might be a bit slow. We understood and weren't in a hurry. It was several minutes before the server arrived and asked if we wanted something to drink. I ordered a bottle of wine. She then asked "and do you want food?" It seemed an odd question but since we'd had plenty of time to look over the menu, I said yes and ordered a salad and a pasta, as did my spouse. She then asked if we wanted the salad first. Again, a bit odd but, yes, we wanted it first. Time passed and our salads arrived. I asked about the wine and the server said she would check on it. We asked for water. When she came back she said they didn't have the wine I had chosen. I asked to see the wine list again and picked another. They were out of it too. Feeling a bit frustrated, I ordered a glass of the house Cabernet - they had to have that, right? - and my spouse settled for water. We started on our salads - I had the lemon rocket and my spouse had the blue Italian - and they were delicious! Things we're looking up! Unfortunately, before we were even half way through our salads, our pastas were delivered and I still didn't have my glass of wine. In an evening of slow service, our food came out way too fast and just sat until we were ready for it - and no one seemed to care. As we finished our salads, the wine finally arrived and it was undrinkable. It clearly was from a bottle that had been open too long. My spouse said I should ask for a new one but the server was no where to be found and I was too frustrated to want to try again. Up next, our pasta. My spouse ordered the tagliatelle bolognese and I ordered the pesto penne with prawns. Both dishes were surprisingly blah. They just didn't have much flavor. Maybe they would have would have been better if they were still warm. As time wore on, our server never checked on us. She was busy and we were trying to be patient. Finally, without asking if the food was OK or if we wanted anything else, she saw my half eaten plate of pasta and asked if I wanted a box. We asked for the check. Again, we understand that places are short staffed. But our server wasn't just busy, she was inattentive, unprofessional, and poorly trained - and there's no excuse for that. And the food just wasn't very good. But, hey, the salads were awesome! read more

I guess we didn't think too much when ordering but both pizzas looked exactly the same and Both were terrible. I think it was the provolone cheese. Tasted like sour milk. I could only eat one slice. The house-made sausage was bland. For the pizza it appears that there are limited options: You can only order their speciality pizzas...."no substitutions"!! WTH? No combination pizza? Here's a list of ingredients you CANNOT get: raw onions, garlic, raw mushrooms, bell peppers, ground beef, regular Italian sausage (with fennel seeds!), linguisa, jalapenos, artichoke hearts, pesto, ricotta..you get the idea. So much potential here that we'll be back to try some of the other dishes based on the reviews here. We are local and really want to enjoy a new establishment. Crust seemed a bit too thin. read more

Unfortunately, for one reason or COVID, we didn't get there until yesterday and I'm so very happy we did! I'm a pizza fanatic! This was one of the best pizzas i've ever had! Everything is homemade. The sauce was excellent, the sausage homemade, the flavors on point! My husband had the caesar salad and mac n cheese. He said the caesar was one of the bests he had and love the mac.
