Rainbow Fountain was a place we'd come to but wasn't a must stop every time we were in town. We were in the area looking a for a quick burrito. An acquaintance pointed us to Rainbow Fountain. I pulled it up and quickly remembered we use to come here. I called in an order for a bean and cheese burrito, 4 bistek a la mexicana and a desebrada. 1 limonada and 1 Coke. Unfortunately I was disappointed in my desebrada burrito. The meat lacked flavor and was unappealing and dry. The bean and cheese definitely was not my favorite and usually is. The bistek was ok but definitely have had better. We would not go back or include this in our rotation when we are in town. Yes- I know they are known for their tortas but they use the same meat as they would in burritos. Review stays the same.

CASA DE TORTA IS FAMILY. CASA DE TORTA IS HOME…read more I've been going to Dan's restaurant since 2001 when they were a little spot inside the Howdy's gas station (it used to be a Texaco and they had a different name back then). Then they moved to their own space behind the Walgreens and became Casa de Torta! I've been ordering their insanely delicious Chicken Quesadilla for going on 20 years now and I'm still not tired of it. Their Tortas and Taco Plates are amazing. They make these fruit smoothies that are absolutely bananas as well. But that Chicken Quesadilla, oh boy... that's my favorite! I order it with fresh avocado slices inside and I add their famous green salsa, a pinch of salt and WHAMO! Perfection! LOL. Dan the owner, Julio the Manager and sweet Esther the cook are like family to my mother and I. In 2018, my mom had 3 back-to-back strokes and everyone was telling me she was going to die. I needed funds immediately to keep up the mortgage payments on her house, pay medical bills, etc. etc. I made a flyer for the GoFundMe page I made for her. Dan didn't hesitate to let me hang it right on their front glass door so anyone coming in would see. Dan donated on the spot (despite going through his own serious health battles) and then the staff came together to donate a little extra. All I have in this world is my mom and my animals. She is the love of my life and for 8 months she was in the hospital with tubes and IVs sticking out of her. It was terrible. When I'd come home to shower, I would call in my order and pick it up the way I always do and they would always ask about my mom. Sometimes they would see how bad I'd been crying or how exhausted I was and they wouldn't accept my money for the food. These people were the family I never had in my time of need. They all love my mom and that fact alone makes me love them. My mom is alive but she remains brain damaged and paralyzed and I take care of her all by myself. We can't afford to eat at their restaurant like we used to because of my mom's expensive daily care, but every 8 months or so I save up to buy our favorite dishes from them. We rather eat there than any other restaurant in the city because these people are the best of the best when it comes to humanity. The amazing food is just a bonus. If you're looking to support a local business and get some AWESOME food while you're at it, this is the place to do it. Every time I have moved back to El Paso, the first thing I do is hit up Casa de Torta... not only because I crave their food ALL the time, but because Casa de Torta is home. Thank you!!!

It's the kind of craftsmanship that's becoming increasingly rare and deserves genuine appreciation. Unfortunately, the finished product didn't quite live up to the performance. While the tortillas were fresh, they lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. They seemed light on either salt or fat, perhaps intentionally for a healthier approach, but the result was a tortilla that tasted muted. There was also a slight grittiness to the texture. I'm used to flour tortillas with a rich, savory flavor that are satisfying enough to enjoy on their own. We ordered several burritos, and while they were certainly good, they never crossed into memorable. Like the tortillas themselves, the fillings could have benefited from a bit more richness and seasoning to create a more satisfying bite. One small disappointment was the beverage selection. I would have appreciated the option of ordering a smaller drink. My jamaica was refreshing but considerably sweeter than I prefer. Then again, perhaps the old saying is true--everything really is bigger in Texas. As someone passing through rather than a local Texan from El Paso, I'm glad I experienced it once, if only to watch the artistry of those handmade tortillas. While the meal was enjoyable, it wasn't compelling enough to make me seek it out again.

My carne asada had little flavor, was overcooked, and was just meat inside a tortilla with no onion, cilantro, or salsa. The worst part was they gave us a different burrito from the chili relleno we ordered. Ok, this is simple enough mistake in a busy drive thru so my girlfriend walked in to correct the order. The people inside were rude and said "we were lucky to get another one (burrito)". They made the mistake and we are LUCKY to get it corrected. Such a great little Northeast hidden gem!…read more I found Hilda's Tamales after an AI workshop nearby because I randomly wanted tamales, and I'm so glad I did. The ladies working there were incredibly sweet and patient with me while I attempted to order my entire meal in Spanish. I'm pretty sure my grammar was questionable, but they understood me! We ordered carne asada burritos, a chile relleno burrito, a carne asada torta, half a dozen red tamales, and a watermelon agua fresca. Everything was around $40, which was an amazing deal for the amount of food we got. The tamales were SO good. Moist, flavorful, and a really good meat-to-masa ratio. My father-in-law ended up eating most of them! My husband loved the torta, and the salsas were really good too. The ladies were also just genuinely kind. While I was waiting, we started talking about the Buy El Paso Rewards program, and I ended up helping connect them with the City so they could learn more about participating. I love finding small, family-run places like this. Great food, great prices, and really sweet people. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in Northeast El Paso!

About 8 large chile toreados, grilled onions.and plenty of corn tortillas. The charro beans were mostly bean soup. I actually poured some of the bean soup into a bowl so we could serve ourselves to avoid some spilling. The baked potatoes were generously bathed in butter. They did not provide any other toppings for the potatoes. Personally I think some sour cream, or Mexican crema de la Mesa, some chives, some other toppings would have been nice. The queso fundido was good but also a disappointment. It was missing the chorizo that I had paid extra for. The meat was very good. Well done but not dry or hard to chew. I was pleased to see that the chicken was not cooked into dryness. We did come across a couple of meat grisel or what in Spanish is called "nervio".
