In town for the holiday with family. We use to live here and remember all the good restaurant places we use to love coming to. Rainbow Fountain was a place we'd come to but wasn't a must stop every time we were in town. We were in the area looking a for a quick burrito. An acquaintance pointed us to Rainbow Fountain. I pulled it up and quickly remembered we use to come here. I called in an order for a bean and cheese burrito, 4 bistek a la mexicana and a desebrada. 1 limonada and 1 Coke. Unfortunately I was disappointed in my desebrada burrito. The meat lacked flavor and was unappealing and dry. The bean and cheese definitely was not my favorite and usually is. The bistek was ok but definitely have had better. We would not go back or include this in our rotation when we are in town. 6-20-25 Be aware of the owner/cashier I was charged $26 and change for 2 tortas and 1 order of fries I looked at the menu and noticed I was overcharged. I went to dispute the transaction and was told she "didn't remember the transaction" how do you not remember an order that's not even 5 minutes old??? Hands down the best aqua fresca I have ever tasted. I got the coconut and banana mixed is was really super fresh and creamy tasted like a shake. The barbacoa tacos were delicious juicy shredded beef with a fresh tortilla along with spicy salsa just amazing. Torta was great the turkey was tender and well seasoned. The place is a wonderful set up, it gives you the vibe of being in a garden. Lady at the front was friendly and patient that always gives you a star. They are enforcing masks and social distancing. The menu has a very nice variety of options of both smoothies burritos and tortas as well as some deserts and sides. Parking is shaded. One less star for lacking vegan options, it is 2021 it would be nice to see more businesses offering vegan/vegetarian options. Aside from that we will come back their agua de limon is great. So is their quesadillas. We ordered a Hawaiian torta w fries and a cheese and ham one. I had to update the review due to the torta having a bad taste because the avocado being bad. I drenched my torta with the sauces they give you and that helped diminish the bad taste. The torta overall is pretty good. I appreciate the enforcement of the mask wearing by the individuals inside. I haven't found a burger I liked in El Paso yet, I have a problem with the buns being too soft and not holding the integrity of the burger. Enter the tortas. I don't think I'm ever going back to the burger if there's a torta available, especially like the ones at Rainbow Fountain. This is the Barbacoa torta, super moist and well seasoned beef with mayo, avocado, tomatoes, and lettuce on top of a crusty light roll. Wow the flavors were so delicious and it's HUGE. I'm still trying to finish it 30 mins later. It's around $4 a torta, and is a STEAL for the amount of food. I also tried the shakes/smoothies (coconut and banana)and they are INCREDIBLE. It's more liquid than shake but still so rich and has a great mouth feel. The 32 oz is enormous and also a great deal at $3.25 each. Pro tip: If you pay by cash, they won't upcharge you 3+%. They're only take out right now, but have a cute little patio area. I'm pretty sure it's like an oasis in the middle of a strip full of autobody shops. It's around the same area as Chihuahuitas and just as hard to park, but like Chihuahuitas, the taste and prices are worth the effort. My go to torta place. You know you are getting a legit torta on telera bread. The aguas frescas and liquados ( shakes) are all delicious and made to order. Theres no watered down jug sitting on the counter. The fries are crispy and delicious. They have a condiment bar too. The red salsa is spicy and the green is flavorful but I prefer the red. I got the Tejana which is a bistek torta with cheese, avocado, lettuce and tomato. My husband got the colitas de pavo (fried Turkey tails). Both really delicious and filling. My dad and I were out shopping so I used Yelp to find a place to eat. The reviews were high so we decided to try it. This place is NOT good. My dad ordered the Rainbow Torta and he said it didn't have any flavor. I took one bite and I agreed. This torta lacked seasoning and it could have used some pico or salsa. The meat alone was very dry and unflavored! I ordered the fruit salad. The fruit was not fresh and the chili that they used was basic chili powder! There is a different chili that should be used on fruit and if this place is going to offer this dish, then they would use the right kind of chili powder, like tajín seasoning. How do i start this review, i have eaten here a couple of times already with friends and to be honest i don't remember having such delicious tortas since i used to live in Mexico. The place is hard to spot if you aren't familiar with the area. If you drive through Montana (right behind Bassett Center Mall) your regular fast food signs will most likely cloud your vision, but if you keep your keen eye open you'll see a little car wash to your right going eastbound and right next to that a covered parking lot. Go in and discover the awesomeness that is Rainbow Tortas. I've had two tortas here, the Tejana and Milanesa. Both were huge and full of ingredients. I'm a big boy and to have one torta fill me up is quite the accomplishment. Add to that their delicious aguas frescas and Mexican glassed coca cola products and you have yourself a winning combination. If breakfast is more your forte and you are looking for a delicious burrito, this too can be your place to stop by and relax a bit, their Barbacoa and Chile Relleno burritos are eloquent. California Chiles the size of the tortilla (a rare thing to see nowadays at burrito places) and Barbacoa with just that right amount of grease are lovely offered here. I'm so glad that I found this hole in the wall close to where I work. I'll be coming here often during my lunch breaks! I ordered a barbacoa torta and it was delicious. Ever since I discovered this place I HAVE to go here every time I'm in El Paso. It's worth it just for the agua frescas alone! I always say I'm going to try a new flavor but end up getting the watermelon one every single time because it is the most refreshing yummy hydrating juice I've ever had. A great torta is all in the bread and Rainbow definitely has that locked down. I pulled into the parking lot and walked into the shop to find it to be a cozy bar stool table only shop but has plenty of shades outdoor seating. My order was quickly taken and before I could get my chiles and napkins my order was ready for pick up. The torta was warm and toasty to the touch. I opened it up to find it stuffed with meat and lettuce. The bottom bun was smothered with yummy avocado and the top with light mayo. The meat is tender and well seasoned and the only thing lacking was the lonely slice of tomato on such a big sandwich. The salsa bar has a bunch of red and green sauce squirt bottles and picked chiles, onions cucumbers and other toppings. To drink I had a agua de pina but it had a heavy hint of coconut. The cup was huge and whipped to perfection. They have 20+ tortas to choose from and half as many burritos tacos cockteles and quesadillas. I got a huge torta and limitless drink for under $9.00!!! After 15 min Ask the lady at the register why my order was taking so long , she not very nice by the way , responded that everything was made fresh 10 min later ask again and now she said we had a big order in front of you . Came here to try out the tortas since i saw good reviews. Overall, the place was just okay. We ordered a barbacoa torta, a jamon con queso torta, and a Texana torta. Out of the three the beat one was the ham one. The other two were okay, the Texana had the least meat of all. The best thing of our visit was the smoothie. The tortas here are personal favorites. You have to try the milanesa con jamon y queso. The barbacoa is probably the best in El Paso. Not greasy at all. The salsas are excellent and the aguas frescas are made to order fresh. I have introduced many friends to this place and they love it. It's a small establishment only having ten or so parking spots. A majority of the seating is outside, with only a handful of bar style seating inside. I ordered the Pork Torta and it was very simple --but delicious. All it had was pork, shredded lettuce, a slice of tomato and avocado. There's also a small bar of extra toppings (jalapeños, onions, salsa, etc.) if you want it, but I thought mine didn't need any extra flavors. It was great how they served it. Also, their Natural Fruit Drinks are amazing and really cheap! ($2.25 for 24 oz./$2.75 for 32 oz.); however, this time around my drink wasn't their best. They have a toppings and condiment bar, if you want to extras such as jalapeños, raw onion, or cilantro. The licuados are delicious, and huge! I cannot understand why anyone would eat here. The cashier has a horrible attitude and has a problem when anyone requests anything that isn't at their little salsa bar. I wouldn't go out of my way to write a bad review but when the gross "bistek" torta that I could not even eat a third of, gave me a stomach ache, I knew I had to warn others. The meat was way too salty and bland. This place managed to ruin the French fries, I didn't think that was possible. This place was awesome. I ordered the buche tacos and limon pepino juice. The buche was much better than average, there was huge amount of meat, fresh cilantro, etc... delicious!
