In town for the holiday with family. We use to live here and remember all the good restaurant places we use to love coming to. Rainbow Fountain was a place we'd come to but wasn't a must stop every time we were in town. We were in the area looking a for a quick burrito. An acquaintance pointed us to Rainbow Fountain. I pulled it up and quickly remembered we use to come here. I called in an order for a bean and cheese burrito, 4 bistek a la mexicana and a desebrada. 1 limonada and 1 Coke. Unfortunately I was disappointed in my desebrada burrito. The meat lacked flavor and was unappealing and dry. The bean and cheese definitely was not my favorite and usually is. The bistek was ok but definitely have had better. We would not go back or include this in our rotation when we are in town. Yes- I know they are known for their tortas but they use the same meat as they would in burritos. Review stays the same. Mi opinión sigue siendo la misma. read more

So you have to speak Spanish here which I do not. So I just said pork numerous times and fries, lol. Friendly service though. Hole in the wall ambiance. I recommend the juice bar also! The best agua fresco and definitely fresh fruits. I don't know the name of the sandwich I got but it was perfect and delicious. I'm definitely going again soon. read more

Five stars all day every day, and make me wanna move to El paso kinda yummy. Don't think. Don't debate. Don't look elsewhere. Go here. It's not a 5 star restaurant. Think gas station vibes. You're not going to be waited on. The chair might be sticky. The birds will be begging outside. BUT THE FOOD THO.... that's the reason you're coming right? Not all the other crap. OK so I ask the lady what's her favorite, she says the chingona (or something similar). Chicken, peppers, onion, cheese, grilled in a small sandwich torta shell. HOLY CHEESY GOODNESS THIS IS THE BEST TORTA OF MI VIDA! I also partook in a Agua Fresca (Don't be fooled this is not watered down fruit w simple syrup, this is a milkshake in a big gulp cup) and a flan. The flan was ok, but I'm not a fan of cake like flan - I like the thinner and more soft style personally. But it was tasty, I'll give them that. Either way. $13 for a massive lunch and it was SO good. I just wish I lived closer to El paso. This alone is worth my 4 hour flight! Just go, and thank me later read more

6-20-25 Be aware of the owner/cashier I was charged $26 and change for 2 tortas and 1 order of fries I looked at the menu and noticed I was overcharged. I went to dispute the transaction and was told she "didn't remember the transaction" how do you not remember an order that's not even 5 minutes old??? I bet when she counts the till she'll see the extra cash. I hope she knows that because her lack of character I was only able to tip the cooks $3 because that's all I had left. Never again. read more

Hands down the best aqua fresca I have ever tasted. I got the coconut and banana mixed is was really super fresh and creamy tasted like a shake. The barbacoa tacos were delicious juicy shredded beef with a fresh tortilla along with spicy salsa just amazing. Torta was great the turkey was tender and well seasoned. The bread was real fresh and super soft but it was so soft it fell apart. Will definitely be back when passing through will be craving the Aqua Fresca read more

The place is a wonderful set up, it gives you the vibe of being in a garden. Lady at the front was friendly and patient that always gives you a star. They are enforcing masks and social distancing. The menu has a very nice variety of options of both smoothies burritos and tortas as well as some deserts and sides. Parking is shaded. One less star for lacking vegan options, it is 2021 it would be nice to see more businesses offering vegan/vegetarian options. Aside from that we will come back their agua de limon is great. So is their quesadillas. We ordered a Hawaiian torta w fries and a cheese and ham one. I had to update the review due to the torta having a bad taste because the avocado being bad. I drenched my torta with the sauces they give you and that helped diminish the bad taste. The torta overall is pretty good. I appreciate the enforcement of the mask wearing by the individuals inside. Thank you. The avocado won't stop me from coming back. Perhaps next time I'll take their review up a star read more

Rainbow Fountain - I always get too exciting eating my favorite tortas. Don't forget the fries and aguas, definitely completes the meal experience. - Mexican Near Me - El Paso, Texas

I haven't found a burger I liked in El Paso yet, I have a problem with the buns being too soft and not holding the integrity of the burger. Enter the tortas. I don't think I'm ever going back to the burger if there's a torta available, especially like the ones at Rainbow Fountain. This is the Barbacoa torta, super moist and well seasoned beef with mayo, avocado, tomatoes, and lettuce on top of a crusty light roll. Wow the flavors were so delicious and it's HUGE. I'm still trying to finish it 30 mins later. It's around $4 a torta, and is a STEAL for the amount of food. I also tried the shakes/smoothies (coconut and banana)and they are INCREDIBLE. It's more liquid than shake but still so rich and has a great mouth feel. The 32 oz is enormous and also a great deal at $3.25 each. Pro tip: If you pay by cash, they won't upcharge you 3+%. They're only take out right now, but have a cute little patio area. I'm pretty sure it's like an oasis in the middle of a strip full of autobody shops. It's around the same area as Chihuahuitas and just as hard to park, but like Chihuahuitas, the taste and prices are worth the effort. Come check them out, they have like 20 different tortas and I'm looking forward to trying them all! read more

My go to torta place. You know you are getting a legit torta on telera bread. The aguas frescas and liquados ( shakes) are all delicious and made to order. Theres no watered down jug sitting on the counter. The fries are crispy and delicious. They have a condiment bar too. The red salsa is spicy and the green is flavorful but I prefer the red. I got the Tejana which is a bistek torta with cheese, avocado, lettuce and tomato. My husband got the colitas de pavo (fried Turkey tails). Both really delicious and filling. I drank the cucumber lime, which was so refreshing. He got the piña, also refreshing and good. read more

My dad and I were out shopping so I used Yelp to find a place to eat. The reviews were high so we decided to try it. This place is NOT good. My dad ordered the Rainbow Torta and he said it didn't have any flavor. I took one bite and I agreed. This torta lacked seasoning and it could have used some pico or salsa. The meat alone was very dry and unflavored! I ordered the fruit salad. The fruit was not fresh and the chili that they used was basic chili powder! There is a different chili that should be used on fruit and if this place is going to offer this dish, then they would use the right kind of chili powder, like tajín seasoning. I would not recommend this place and we won't be back. read more

Had the carnitas torta and i was pretty disappointed. I heard several ppl say they like it here and mebe i came with bloated expectations.. i mean it is really cheap so at least theres that? *shrug*.. there was really little meat inside, like a thin veneer of carnitas, as if the meat was a garnish. bread seemed kinda stale and mealy.. i was really turned off by the salsa roja which was like straight blended peppers and salt, no balance or nuance or.. recipe? like i wanna know the story behind this, meet the person who thought people would want this.. read more

THE RAINBOW FOUNTAIN OF LIFE AND TORTA SANDWICHES Miles upon miles of El Paso is covered in desert brown and sepia, but sometimes you want a little more color in your life. In comes the mirage called Rainbow Fountain, a hole-in-the-wall that looks like a mix of a child's jungle playhouse and a Hawaiian luau, but specializes in Mexican torta sandwiches. With grass turf and greenery on the outside, it is a refreshing twist to the admirable, dry desert. Enter the restaurant and you will see a menu that WILL SHOCK YOU. Aside from the many choices of tortas, burritos, and other goodies, you will see the affordable and economical prices. Lunches will be great again without breaking the bank. Places like Rainbow Fountain are why I keep my tastebuds locked and loaded, and my tongue salivating for more as I seek out places to eat. Now before I get too hot and bothered, let me tell you about that torta. Lick your lips as we go for a ride. The FOOD: YOUR PERSONAL FANTASY AWAITS IN YOUR HANDS Texana Torta: EVERYTHING A TEXAN CAN ASK FOR AND MORE Everything I just said applies to New Mexicans as well. Two slices of warm, toasted Mexican bread with a distinct crunch on the outside and heavenly carbs on the inside form the exterior of this torta. Inside lies a stew of grilled beef steak, Chile California, and melted cheese. The beef steak provides the meaty foundation and savouriness that complements the tangy and earthy peppers to keep you from getting those meat sweats and cleanse the palette. The gooey cheese helps make the steak and peppers more palatable and rich as you chew. It isnt too oily or greasy. It is a beautiful scene unfolding as the moist interior combines with the toasty exterior to deliver a full and balanced experience to your stomach. Try their red and green chili sauces to add a spicy kick to get you sweating and addicted with each bite. The VERDICT: TORTA HEAVEN WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK When looking for a place to eat, everyone wants the full experience...the dinner and a movie...a place that catches the eye, the tongue, the stomach, and also the wallet. Rainbow Fountain is that intriguing hole-in-the-wall that teases your curiosity. Aesthetically pleasing as its grass turf and greenery makes up a hybrid jungle playground and Hawaiian luau in the middle of the desert, while pleasing the tastebuds with their endless combinations of Mexican torta sandwiches. More than just meat and toppings between slices of bread, this place brings a refreshing rebirth to lunchtime sandwiches. Try the Texana Torta with its grilled beef steak, Chile California, and melted cheese between two warm slices of torta bread; you will not regret it. I will definitely be back to try the other tortas, especially since they are so affordable. You know this place caught your eye, so let me tell you it is worth stopping by to satisfy that curiosity. read more

Rainbow Fountain - Texana Torta: EVERYTHING A TEXAN COULD ASK FOR AND MORE - Mexican Near Me - El Paso, Texas

How do i start this review, i have eaten here a couple of times already with friends and to be honest i don't remember having such delicious tortas since i used to live in Mexico. The place is hard to spot if you aren't familiar with the area. If you drive through Montana (right behind Bassett Center Mall) your regular fast food signs will most likely cloud your vision, but if you keep your keen eye open you'll see a little car wash to your right going eastbound and right next to that a covered parking lot. Go in and discover the awesomeness that is Rainbow Tortas. I've had two tortas here, the Tejana and Milanesa. Both were huge and full of ingredients. I'm a big boy and to have one torta fill me up is quite the accomplishment. Add to that their delicious aguas frescas and Mexican glassed coca cola products and you have yourself a winning combination. If breakfast is more your forte and you are looking for a delicious burrito, this too can be your place to stop by and relax a bit, their Barbacoa and Chile Relleno burritos are eloquent. California Chiles the size of the tortilla (a rare thing to see nowadays at burrito places) and Barbacoa with just that right amount of grease are lovely offered here. If ever you are around there or if you find yourself shopping at the mall and are looking for a good chill meal don't hesitate on going outside of the mall to enjoy a good eat here. Kudos! read more

I'm so glad that I found this hole in the wall close to where I work. I'll be coming here often during my lunch breaks! I ordered a barbacoa torta and it was delicious. It came with a red and green sauce; I loved the slight spiciness of the green and used all of it while the red had too much of a kick for me. The torta was perfectly filling for lunch. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I can't wait to bring my co-workers here with me and try their fresh juices next week. read more

I swear it's the nectar of the gods lol. I don't eat meat and there's not a ton of vegetarian options but the Chile relleno torta is so amazing! A great torta is all in the bread and Rainbow definitely has that locked down. I pulled into the parking lot and walked into the shop to find it to be a cozy bar stool table only shop but has plenty of shades outdoor seating. My order was quickly taken and before I could get my chiles and napkins my order was ready for pick up. The torta was warm and toasty to the touch. I opened it up to find it stuffed with meat and lettuce. The bottom bun was smothered with yummy avocado and the top with light mayo. The meat is tender and well seasoned and the only thing lacking was the lonely slice of tomato on such a big sandwich. The salsa bar has a bunch of red and green sauce squirt bottles and picked chiles, onions cucumbers and other toppings. To drink I had a agua de pina but it had a heavy hint of coconut. The cup was huge and whipped to perfection. They have 20+ tortas to choose from and half as many burritos tacos cockteles and quesadillas. I got a huge torta and limitless drink for under $9.00!!! I will definitely be back!!! It gets packed so parking can be an issue but they take cards and cash so all are welcomed. read more

This place is a true gem. A true hole in the wall packed with so much flavor one is left to question how this place isn't popular. My partner and I had a very long day yesterday. Packed full of hiking and other fun activities, we were to say the least, extremely parched. And for some odd reason water wasn't cutting it. So we decided to start to look in the area for Agua Fresca. I searched all over yelp and this place didn't even show up. My partner began to look and low and behold he found this magical place. When we first arrived I was a bit skeptical. But upon entering I could smell all the wonderful flavors this place has to offer. They aren't just know for their super refreshing Agua Fresca, but they also have dozens of tortas to choose from along with tacos, several seafood cocktails and gorditas. It's a small place so indoor seating is limited but they do offer outdoor seating in a shaded area. My partner had the pineapple Agua Fresca and I had the watermelon one. They make them fresh each time you order so it's not like they have a jug sitting in the fridge for days. You can actually taste the freshness in each sip. We definitely can not wait to come back to this true hidden gem. Oh and the prices are fairly cheap! $5 for 2, 32 oz Agua Fresca read more

Came here to try out the tortas since i saw good reviews. Overall, the place was just okay. We ordered a barbacoa torta, a jamon con queso torta, and a Texana torta. Out of the three the beat one was the ham one. The other two were okay, the Texana had the least meat of all. The best thing of our visit was the smoothie. The coco- nuez smoothie was delicious( thank you to the yelper who suggested it). Its a decent place to try out, we will probably be returning. read more

The tortas here are personal favorites. You have to try the milanesa con jamon y queso. The barbacoa is probably the best in El Paso. Not greasy at all. Great food and drinks at this is very unsuspecting place. The building doesn't easily reveal itself to you as you're driving by, so you really have to be looking for the "Rainbow Fountain" sign. To be fair, the name of the place, the sign, and the look of the building doesn't exactly tempt someone to stop in from the road. This leads me to believe that this place has thrived because of the quality of their products and as a byproduct: recommendations via word of mouth. It's a small establishment only having ten or so parking spots. A majority of the seating is outside, with only a handful of bar style seating inside. I ordered the Pork Torta and it was very simple --but delicious. All it had was pork, shredded lettuce, a slice of tomato and avocado. There's also a small bar of extra toppings (jalapeños, onions, salsa, etc.) if you want it, but I thought mine didn't need any extra flavors. It was great how they served it. Also, their Natural Fruit Drinks are amazing and really cheap! ($2.25 for 24 oz./$2.75 for 32 oz.); however, this time around my drink wasn't their best. It wasn't completely blended, so I was chewing ice every time I took a drink from it. Also, the cashier will speak to you almost exclusively in Spanish, but she will speak some English if you say some of the words I kept saying, to include "huh?" and "what?" Lastly, if you don't specify what size drink or fries you want, they will default to a large. read more

We ordered the Texana and Colitas de Pavo tortas - they were both tasty. The only criticism I have is that they were a little light on the filling, but definitely a bargain. They have a toppings and condiment bar, if you want to extras such as jalapeños, raw onion, or cilantro. The licuados are delicious, and huge! I cannot understand why anyone would eat here. The cashier has a horrible attitude and has a problem when anyone requests anything that isn't at their little salsa bar. I wouldn't go out of my way to write a bad review but when the gross "bistek" torta that I could not even eat a third of, gave me a stomach ache, I knew I had to warn others.
