Went with a friend and his wife and we all ordered something different. I had the steak sandwich with crispy potatoes, he ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with crispy potatoes, and she ordered the gluten-free mac & cheese with pork belly. Everyone enjoyed their meal, but the pork belly was very sparse on the mac & cheese, especially considering the price. A true highlight was the crispy potatoes with a sweet relish on top. I highly recommend this over fries or chips. We were able to sit outside since it was such a nice day and the patio space is very nice. Probably one of my favorite Buffalo restaurants to go to around Christmas time. It isn't just the fact that they have Buffalo's best Tom and Jerry but their restaurant ambiance is always so cozy and warm. Alright now let's begin with the star of the show, the one and only Tom and Jerry. The Christmas drink of all Christmas drinks. Their Tom and Jerry isn't like most and that's what puts it above the rest. They make a batter for their Tom and Jerry's ahead of time and top of the liquor with their thick, sweet, silky batter which to me tastes like cookie dough with the consistency of pancake batter. It is to die for. And get this, as a momentum of your experience the waiter told us we got to keep the mug! Anyone visiting Buffalo around Christmas time needs to put the Tom and Jerry from the place on their list. Now for ALL the food. Their portion sizes and prices are unreal for these days. No one from our table ate more than half their meal leaving plenty for your meal the next day. I got their buffalo chicken sandwich and it was unreal. The piece of chicken you get it almost double the size of the roll and their buffalo sauce was just enough heat to please the taste buds but nicely cooled by their blue cheese sauce. Highly recommend. Overall I can't wait to come back again, I've heard through the grape vine they have a fantastic brunch . If it's anything compared to their dinner I'm sure it would be a lovely meal. read more

Wow, I am so glad me and my husband stopped in here spontaneously for lunch because we needed a parking spot to shop at Little Salmon across the street Our waitress was great - very attentive and friendly. The food was spectacular. I got the poached pear salad and my husband went with the harvest salad and both were filled with fresh ingredients and so tasty! For solid pub grub and a neighborly vibe, look no further than The Place. This Lexington Avenue bar/restaurant has supposedly been around forever, which makes sense since the environment was so warm and friendly. There's lots of space inside and out -- we sat on the patio since it was an unseasonably warm day for November. Service was on the slower side but nothing too bad. We started with the banana pepper dip, a much bigger portion than we expected, but it was pretty solid. Lots of flavor, but the spice wasn't overbearing. I opted for their Friday fish fry for dinner which I really enjoyed -- the fish was perfectly crispy and the coleslaw and tuna mac salad were different than any I'd tried before. My boyfriend got their steak sandwich. It was a pretty large portion, and while I didn't try it, it looked delicious. The prices are a bit on the steeper side but overall we enjoyed the food. I think this is a nice staple restaurant in the Elmwood Village, and you can't go wrong coming here for dinner if you're stuck on where to go to eat. read more

I really can't say anything about the food because we went just for a drink. But their Tom and jerry around Christmas (and a bit after christmas) is a must have! They serve it in a cute cup you can take home in December and then a cute holiday mug after that that you don't take home. My husband and I stopped in to grab one. I came here about a month ago with an acquaintance from AA. From start to finish I received poor service from the waitress. When coming to this restaurant I had every intention of purchasing a bottle of wine. I drink my associate did not drink. The waitress rather than bringing me a bottle brought me a tiny bottle enough for one serving. This was a little annoying but I let it go. I thought we were done with the mixups, but then when I was still eating the waitress tried to take my plate. I explained to her twice I was still working on the food. She nodded and proceeded to put the dirty used plate on top of mine that had food on it. The person eating with me had to physically stop her from walking away with the plate I just told her twice that I was still working on. Why did the woman not listen to me and listen to him you may ask. We had differing theories. I said she was either dumb or racist which normally go hand in hand. He said she seemed like a recovering drug user and said oftentimes their brains don't comprehend things as well. She left the plate. I didn't even want the food. I wanted to make it a point that in a service industry you should listen to the ones giving the order. I was not going to eat the food once it was soiled but it was the overall point. The waiter was tipped well anyway by my associate, but I won't be returning on my own accord anytime soon. This place gives stuffy old person vibes. Not bad, but not my vibe. Waitress was very off. It was my first time here. We had a reservation for 6:30 for indoor dining on a Friday night during lent. They seated us immediately but put us in the outdoor patio in April, when it was 50 degrees out. It was warm from the ceiling heaters beating hot air on our heads, until a worker turned off the heaters. Then it was absolutely uncomfortable even with jackets on. The waitress was very nice and turned the heater back on after a few customers complained. It certainly was not a night to be sitting outside. Besides the ambiance, the food was very good. On the first nice day of Spring 2025 I took my 85 year old mother to The Place on Lexington. The iconic restaurant where everyone is so nice and welcoming, right? Guess we were not cool and attractive enough because a very loud, mean customer named 'Charley' made decimating comment about us while our waitress (who was sitting in a booth with him eating a hamburger) laughed at what he was saying. It was a Monday afternoon and my mom and I were the only ones in there. She had recently been really ill, but recovered and was wanting a lobster roll from there. I initially ordered an Arnold Palmer, but changed it to a diet pepsi, but was still charged 4 dollars for a pop clearly from the bar hose. Whatever. The lobster roll was ok (30 $) and the big fried potatoes were good. The waitress sat in a booth with a man who was very loud, and body shaming the waitresses, and said " All women are smelly, nasty, whores". In front of my mother. When I looked up at him after his comment he grinned and looked at me and said HI THERE! YOU WANT A PROBLEM? Our waitress laughed. No one said anything. What a fun, classy bar. I asked the waitress if he was the owner and she laughed and said he was a "good friend of the barteder". I am sure that I will just be called a Karen for not thinking that someone could have said something instead of laughing at us. So I just paid for the 64 dollar lunch plus tip, and left. The outdoor seating is lovely, unfortunately we did not have reservations so we had to sit inside. Service was good, started out with Arancini and traditional Mac and cheese for appetizers. Five stars for both of them. My entree was a special; Blackened Black Tip Shark with risotto. I'm only giving it 2.5 stars because I feel that the risotto was under salted, and the fish was overcooked. Presentation was excellent. Other entrees at the table were beef on weck, and the steak sandwich. Beef was plentiful and came with choice of potato. Now because this place has been around forever I have to give it four stars no matter what it's the place I mean come on it's "The Place!" and I don't know when they did their renovation because I'm sure people have been going here years and years before I ever went but whenever that happened I just know and have been told that it became much bigger more tables less of a bar feel and more of a true restaurant and now to max it out even further they have this wonderful outdoor/indoor patio with heaters for when it's a little bit chilly as well as outdoor seating so that's awesome! I went with a group of 10 and we got a reservation easily even just like I think a day before for 10 people plus A high chair! It was the garden walk weekend so they were out of some things that we wanted like the steak sandwich and Reuban, but we tried a lot of food in fact we ordered almost every appetizer except for two so I'm gonna tell you what I know for a fact is nice! Or couuuuuld be avoided French onion soup was a bit salty not the best in town. Strawberry arugula salad tasty of course, loved the banana pepper dip and came with a generous portion of Crostini's but mind you is a little spicy if you're sensitive to that, Crabcake was good but if you're into having a lot of sauce over it it was a little sparing with that, Mac & cheese you can get done multiple ways and we got it Buffalo chicken finger style and it was amazing. Clams casino and shrimp cocktail can't go wrong I don't really eat burgers that much but I practically ate my nieces whole burger it was great! Beef on weck buffalo classic also very delicious! I got the Cajun pasta with chicken and even though I grew to love the taste it uses the word " creamy" on the menu and it really wasn't, it was fairly dry and so was the chicken but there was good flavor despite it, and although I didn't try the linguine with clam, my dad reports it was satisfying! This is another "place" that is walking distance from where I live and after going a couple times this winter I'm looking forward to being back soon. Most popular thing during Christmas/winter is their Tom and Jerry drink, deservedly so. The perfect alcoholic beverage for a cold wintery night. Had the Cajun pasta the first time and although it was exactly as described, I enjoyed the buffalo chicken sandwich much more the second time I went back. A perfect roll, very tasty piece of chicken and hefty quantity. A great spot to go on the weekend if you're looking for a dinner date or even a small group trying to get together. I was pleasantly surprised when I visited here. It was busy, and the restaurant was cozy (especially on such a windy night.) Our waitress was so nice and attentive. We initially came for their famous Tom and Jerry drinks and were blown away by how good our dinner was! Our Tom and Jerrys were frothy, warm, and strong and exactly what we needed. We also got to take home our mugs! So cute. We both ordered the French Onion soup which was gooey and savory and delicious. I ordered the Linguine and Clams and it was amazing. It was super garlicky and the clams seemed fresh. So good. My friend got the gnocchi which was full of fresh peas and mushrooms and covered and a cream sauce. This place definitely gets five stars! I met two friends here after work for a Tom and Jerry holiday drink. I've never had one before and The Place's Tom & Jerry was fantastic! I got here around 5 and I put my name down. I waited outside, in their comfortable porch chairs. The porch is heated but it was still chilly. This place is hip and cool on the inside with awesome holiday decor and neat lighting. My friends and I sat just past the hostess area, which was nice because they had a divider between us and the hostess, so we wouldn't get cold every time the door was opened. Our waitress was great! I wasn't that hungry but their French onion soup was calling my name, as was their macaroni and cheese. The French onion soup was really good. The macaroni and cheese seemed pricy but the waitress mentioned that I could order a half-sized portion for &7.00. It was still a pretty good size. They added an additional $2.00 on for the mushroom truffle, which was fine, because it was fantastic!!! Also, although the Tom & Jerry was pricy at $13.00, it was totally worth it. It had an eggy type foam on top, a stir stick in it to drink it more easily, and the waitress gave us our own (new/clean) Tom & Jerry cup as a souvenir on our way out!!! It had the year on it. I ordered a flynnie thinnie (ham,cheese, onions) The meat to bread ratio was so off, 2 thin slices of ham, that weren't evenly distributed on the bread evenly. one guest ordered the crispie potatoes with her sandwich and it looked liked all the bits that fell off in the fryer, and they just dumped them on her plate with a few actual potatoes. It was very crowded and fit 6 people in a booth was tight. They don't have any parking so we had to walk 2 blocks. The menu was very simplified but lots of great things on it. We started with drinks and that took awhile to come out because the bar was busy as well. The gluten free buffalo chicken mac and cheese was cheesy and not overly spicy. It was a huge portion a lot to share. Took awhile to get more drinks and for the food to come out after the appetizers. The buffalo chicken sandwich had a huge piece of chicken that hung off the roll. Asked for no tomato but they put it on there so the seeds were all over the chicken. The fries were a little hard for my liking. The Rueben was stacked high with meat but the bread was a bit soggy. Not blown away for the price. The gluten free steak sandwich was lacking very slim between the bread. Charged extra for a side salad since the fries were not gluten free. Shrimp an gnocchi was a smaller portion for the price. We visited the Place the Thursday before St. Patricks Day and it was packed. Too bad that also meant the noise level was very high and conversation was a challenge. But that was my only somewhat negative comment. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The drinks showed up pretty fast, esp. considering the big crowd in the Place. The specials menu had mussels, I didn't look any further. They were cooked perfectly in a sauce of Guinness and garlic. The dish came with a nice piece of baguette to get the best of the sauce. Soooo good that I asked for a second piece of baguette. My recommendation to the Place is to keep this dish on the menu. I will return if so. #happy read more

I've been coming to this place for years. generally have never had a complaint. it's a wonderful place to eat, it's a great bar to sit at. i don't even know the bartenders name but tonight i went in there with family and have never felt more disrespected in my life. it's almost as if when we asked him to make a couple different cocktails off their own menu he was annoyed by it. not to be rude but he was bald, had glasses, could see a wife beater through his button down. at the end of the night he was cleaning a glass in front of me and "accidentally" sprayed my entire face in the process. when i asked what happened there ( "I've sat at a lot of bars in my lifetime and this has never happened") he 1.) didn't apologize 2.) asked me if i had a problem and wanted to step outside over it. haha...no it's okay sir we just spent over $300 in this establishment and that's how you treat people ???
