Pit Stop is easy to comment about. No matter what you get, you'll love it. Extraordinarily delicious meals. I've tried nearly everything on the menu and it was all outstanding. The food is so tasty, you cannot help but go for seconds and potentially thirds. Absolutely the best brisket and ribs in the area. read more

After going here nearly a dozen times which is my requirement before leaving a review, I've only experienced the food made properly 30% of the time. And that 30% was absolutely delicious. However, the other 70% the meat was dryer than a camel's snatch. I'm not willing to pay to take a chance on the food here anymore. The only constants are: terrible customer service, delicious cornbread, and delicious cole slaw. The picture shows their pencil-thin $20 dry half rack of ribs read more

First timer. Shoulda got there early cause they were out of ribs by 4pm on a Sat. Had a pulled pork sandwich instead and it was FA! Flavorful/tender without hiding behind any sauce (on the side of course!) Bun was just there to keep it company. Hubby wanted a pickle for perfection. Potato salad leans a bit sweet but the dill kicks it back to the middle. Excited to go back on the early side before their menu 86s. read more

The pork barbecue sandwich was overly shredded meat bordering on canned. Potato salad unusual color, peppery, oily, not good. Would ask for a refund but was not given a receipt even tho I paid cash! read more

Best BBQ in NOVA and it's not even close. Some will make an argument for Willards, some will push for Monks, others will say Rocklands, and a few in the know will say Sweet Fire Donna's.....all are great spots, but none match the quality, quantity, and value of Pit Stop. I've had just about everything on the menu but my favorite is the brisket, pork, banana pudding, and Mac and cheese. I'd put their brisket up against anyone in the DMV. Call ahead to order if you want to make sure they have what you want. read more

Can't say enough good things about Pit Stop, have been a customer for years, starting with their original location in Gilbert's Corner. This brick and mortar location does not disappoint and keeps the BBQ goodness going, with the family keeping their standards high and flavors overflowing with love. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but my personal favorites are the smoked chicken, rib tips, and ribs. The brisket is fantastic as well. The smoke flavor is so deep, you can see the smoke ring on the meats, and it will just infuse everything it comes into contact with - this is a good thing. Pit Stop also mixes their own BBQ sauces, with options of mild and spicy, and I'm a huge fan of both, leaning towards the spicy. It's such a good sauce that I honestly look forward to having a lot of it leftover afterwards to use with other foods! It's just that good. For sides, I like the potato salad and kale that they do. Service is very friendly and makes you feel taken care of. Pit Stop is always a good option, go get some if you're in the area! (or even make a specific trip out of it) read more

Service was AMAZING!!! We were treated like family as soon as we entered. The cornbread is a MUST TRY, it's so soft and buttery! The BBQ sandwich is juicy and flavorful with the homemade mild sauce. Yams delicious! Wings crispy! We came when they were about to close and they were sold out of ribs..but since EVERYTHING we did order was so good, We came back early the next day just to order the ribs and chicken! Needless to say they were AMAZING TOO!!! Definitely recommend!!! read more

I love this place! The brisket is especially good. If you want a locally owned authentic barbecue, head over to the Pit Stop. Get there early because menu items may run out. They only cook a certain amount each day, which guarantees fresh food and little waste. So, don't stroll in st 7 at night thinking everything on the menu is still available. Go for lunch or early dinner..... read more

I was in the mood for some BBQ in VA, and thankfully Yelp directed me to PS. I've gone to both locations and I'm a fan of the food that Pit Stop makes! I usually get the pulled pork sandwich and two sides whether its the beans and kale, or kale and potato salad or beans and candied yams! You can't go wrong with any of them! And they actually have big smoker grills out back which you can just smell the BBQ cooking from up the street if you roll past it with the windows down! *WARNING* If you go to the location closer to Aldie near the roundabout, CALL your order in!! You'll thank me later. If you don't mind standing in long lines and waiting long periods of time for food, then by all means go ahead and disregard my advice. But this place definitely a top spot when in the mood for BBQ! read more

I travel to Virginia on occasion for business. I love to eat at local eateries to experience how things are done there. My coworker suggested that I stop here. My regret was not actually sitting down in the restaurant to enjoy this. The brisket, rib tips were cooked to perfection. The macaroni and cheese was amazing. The kale greens were on another level by themselves. I'm not sure if I want to hug or fight the person that made the greens. I promise you I'll be back!!! read more

Called three times, each time they answered phone and said "hold" then I waited on hold for roughly 5-6 minutes each time. After they picked up when my hold time was over, they hung up the phone. Happened three times in a row. Have no idea how good or bad the food is cause this was my first (and last) experience. Don't waste your time. read more

STERLING, VA 04/09/19 LUNCH +Same great smoke flavors, as their food stand off of Gilbert's Corner in Aldie, VA. +The smoked chicken is fabulous. +Get a full rack of ribs, as you won't be disappointed. +They offer more menu options at this brick-and-mortar; i.e., fried chicken wings. +Their spicy BBQ sauce is to die for. +Their collard greens is excellent. -No loyalty rewards program. -The sides' portions run a little small, in my opinion. Overall, if I had to rank the barbecue joints in Fairfax/Loudoun County that I've tried, the list would be as follows: 1. Monk's (Purcellville, VA) 2. The Pit Stop (Aldie, VA and Sterling, VA) 3. HammerDown (Aldie, VA) 4. Odd BBQ (Chantilly, VA) 5. Mission BBQ (Chantilly, VA and Sterling, VA) Let me know your thoughts, fellow Yelpers! read more

I have been to many rib joints Through-out my life. Nothing compares to the Pit Stop. The ribs are smoked 14+ hours and the meat falls off the bone. The smoked brisket is the most tender meat I have ever tasted. I strongly recommend this restaurant. read more

So so good! Heard so many great things about The Pit Stop and had to come check it out. Plenty of parking is available outside their restaurant. I love the laid back ambiance of this place. Employees are all so friendly, helpful, and kind. There is no waiter service here. Indoor seating is available. Water cups, napkins, plastic silverware, drinks, etc. are within reach. Restrooms are in the back and clean. The restaurant overall is also clean and organized. Their brisket is not available until after 5 pm. We tried their ribs, chicken, and chopped pork. It was well prepared and jam packed with flavor. Their ribs and chicken were our favorites. We will definitely have to come back after 5 pm to try their brisket! The sides were delicious as well. Quality ingredients are used. The Pit Stop is forking out some flavorful bbq. You can taste all the love and time that's put in it. Can't wait to come back. read more

If I can be truly honest with you for a moment, this is probably the best BBQ I have since my Winchester days. Unfortunately I am setting the bar low because the options are not so good to begin with. Nina once again came through with a suggestion, this restaurant. Now when I lived in Winchester, I got spoiled living literally across the street from Bonnie Blue, which for those that do not know, has some of the best BBQ in the state. If you do not believe me, just look it up in the New York Times. Anyway, I had to try this out to see how good the food is, and, well, it holds up alright. I got the two meat two side combo. I got rib tips, smoked sausage, coleslaw, mac and cheese (I swapped this for baked beans), and cornbread. How did each item fare? The rib tips are absolutely fantastic. Meaty and tender, dip some sauce or mustard on them and you will be doing a happy dance. They give you plenty too, so do not feel shortchanged about it. The sausage is just okay. I desperately did everything I could to improve the taste, such as sauces and combining it with other meat flavors, but unfortunately none of it worked. Considering Bonnie Blue's kielbasa is some of the best, the bar was already set for them to achieve that greatness. Oh well, no loss. As mentioned above, I initially got mac and cheese, but swapped it for baked beans once I saw the pepper on it. I do not do mac and cheese with pepper, sorry. The baked beans are super sugary sweet. I think they go a bit overboard on the brown sugar in the back. They are good, but eat with serious caution. The coleslaw is the perfect blend of tangy and refreshing. It is not messy, and you get a solid amount. I should have put some on my meats, but this can work well on its own. Finally, yes, the cornbread. Delicious. And you get a healthy helping of it. It is a great way to end the meal and make you feel good about yourself considering what you just accomplished. It costs $2 extra, but get it. It is worth every penny. So no, it is no Bonnie Blue, but certainly no white tablecloth BBQ. I think you will enjoy yourself here, all that expense of maybe gaining two more inches to your waistline. Which I reminds me, now I have to walk this off, but a nap is needed first. My mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it... read more

I was excited to try this new BBQ joint in the area, and it did not disappoint! As soon as you get into the parking lot, you can already smell the delicious BBQ. We decided to go with the two meats and two sides. You get a 1/4 lb of each meat, and it was plenty for two people. We got the rib tips and brisket as well as the baked beans and sweet potatoes. The absolute standout was the rib tips. That is a must try!! The brisket was also very good and had a strong, smoky flavor. The beans did not look that appetizing, but they were actually pretty good. The sweet potatoes were very thick and sweet. I probably wouldn't get this again. I would like to try the mac and cheese next time I go. One thing to note - about an hour before closing, they noted that they sold out of various items, such as coleslaw and brisket. I would suggest coming in earlier in the evening to make sure what you want to order is available. I will certainly be back soon! read more

5 stars. I've come to this establishment several times since 2019. Let me tell you when you see and smell the smoke you know you've arrived. I suggest if you really want something get there before closing. Things tend to run out. The ribs are my go to or pulled pork by the pound. All the sides are delicious. If you have enough room get yourself a slice of cake. But just know it could feed 2 people. Service is great and the staff are friendly and welcoming. read more

The Pit Stop - Smoked Chicken, Rib Tips Mac and Cheese the whole nine! It was deli - Barbeque Near Me - Sterling, Virginia

This has taken the #1 spot for wings and BBQ in northern VA. I'm reasonably picky with my BBQ after watching too many BBQ pit-master competitions growing up. Haha. I hadn't found a place that had good and actual sliced brisket until today. This was nicely sliced, not too thick, and had a great moist flavor. (If you experience something different, that's ok because depend on the brisket and what part of the brisket you get). I've had their ribs and pork when they come to Gilbert's Corner on route 15 and love the flavor of them. Today I got to try the Mac and cheese, the baked beans, their pit stop Buffalo sauce on their wings, and BBQ lemon honey pepper sauce on the wings. I loved the sauces so much I asked if they sold them, they do not. The wings could be eaten dry and so can the brisket. The mac and cheese is the best in the area as well. My one and only knock, is the sweet tea tasted a little old, but I'll still give a full 5/5! Please open a location in Haymarket! Plenty of expanding store fronts to move in to! read more

First try.... and I do have to say some of the best ribs I have in a while! Super fab.... and if just on the ribs they would have hit 5 stars... large and tasty.... that said..... I'm not a fan of their sauces... so thrilled that the ribs just have a rub on them. I think my issue is that there is too much mustard in them at least for my taste. And while we liked their beans they are really quite sweet and we would have preferred less sugar... the coleslaw was okay but nothing super special... and I wish you all had a half portion of your sides... fine if your sharing but way tooo big if your not! At this point they would be at 4 stars.... so why am I thinking they should be 3 stars...It's all about logistics!!!!! They have counter issues ensuring someone is always at the register taking orders... on arrival the line wasn't moving and not sure why... they have issues ensuring enough food prepared.... in our case it was just a delay in getting cornbread so not a big issue but indicative of what will happen later in the day... and while I knew from previous reviews about brisket not being offered till after 5.... my thoughts are if you can have ribs ready for lunch you could have brisket ready... so why you don't is a mystery to me and a problem going forward as we are usually only out this way at lunch! So in the end the quality of the ribs say don't rate them at a 3.... so I will give them 4 but just barely.... Additional comments: they do have free water available which a previous poster said they didn't! read more

This is my favorite bbq spot in nova. The ribs are fall off the bone good, with sauce or dry which tells me they add the sauce afterwards instead of glazing it while smoking it. This is the right way. I'm a huge fan of their brisket but they do sell out so get there early or you'll be disappointed. The sides are your typical bbq fare but there baked beans are smoked and they are incredibly tasty. They have banana pudding with the vanilla wafers in it. I love this place and you will too! read more

Updating from previous review. Given every other restaurant jacking up their prices, pit stop has workers hard to keep their prices reasonable. The food is delicious. Let's start off with a disclaimer IF YOUR HUNGRY this is YOUR PLACE Saw this restaurant while dining through the parking lot and was curious My curiosity had me waiting 3 days to try them out... longest 3 days So I made it Thursday ... and it was worth every day waiting I decided we would try a few things Started with the Smoked chicken salad ...stop playing.... Y'all better try this Ribs ... smoked and tender Brisket .. tasty and also tender Smoked chicken ... definitely had the smoky component ... a lil dry Coleslaw ...awesomesauce ...I like Good coleslaw and they have it Kale really good ... had a spicy but sweet kick... going back Mac n cheese.., someone knows what they are doing...if you know good Mac N cheese they have it Fried Catfish & fried whiting.. fried just right ...with gray draining Now let me tell you about the Yams/Sweet Potatoes... listen I now understand why they sell out...., They are so tender & sweet .... Had me thinking of Thanksgiving dinner at Grandmas house We got the cornbread which had a sweet blend... it just needed a stick of butter in the pan and it would have been a 10 ... but it was edible Enjoyed visiting the Pit stop and the staff is very accommodating Give them a visit and get their iced tea read more

It is the best BBQ spot we got in the area, though I appreciate all the sauces at Monks in Purcellville. The pulled pork is always good and the hot sauce is mouth-watering. The mac n' cheese is the best I've had besides my mom's. The greens and potato salad are pretty good too. But the fried catfish. OOF. YUM. I can't believe a BBQ spot does catfish so well. Best fried catfish I've ever had. Throw a little malt vinegar on there and you are good to go. Go EARLY. They close when they sell out and they sell out for a reason. read more

This place rocks! Their unique chicken salad is off the chain! I've been going here for 4 years or more ave won't stop! Go there!

Got the pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw, brisket sandwich, potato salad, Mac n cheese, and wings. Everything was very good. The brisket was sliced thin and tender. The wings were breaded and crispy. The sides were not generic. Actually cooked with attention and purpose. There is good bbq in the area and this place might need to be added to the list of go to places. Mission is consistent and a family favorite. Mookies is also very good and a little further out. The one issue with the pit stop is how busy it gets. I called at 5, got through on the 3rd try and was told the food would be ready at 5:45. It was actually ready at 6pm, not a big deal. What was a big deal was the amount of people that came and went because they tried to order and they couldn't get through. And they couldn't order in person. I didn't know if I had to call to let them know I was there, so I ended up calling 44 times. Never got though. Lucky enough I didn't need to let them know. This place would be killing it if they had more than 2 phone lines and had some more staff. We will see what happens when the quarantine ends. read more

Oh lawd, the smoker that brings long lines off route 50 and 15 with their fine BBQ now has a storefront in Sterling, VA. And good news - the BBQ is just as fine, and the service is just as stellar and hospitable. Their brisket is a must get. It's sold after 5 pm. The meat itself is so tender and flavorful. It's melt in your mouth good. The next must get are their ribs. Their tangy and savory mild and spicy house made sauces are both excellent with the ribs. If you prefer white meat, the chicken salad is also tasty with any crackers of your choice. I recently had their fried catfish special and the spices for the crust and the moist and flaky fish were on point. Each order comes with two huge pieces of catfish and a side for $15. That's a steal! The owner recommended eating the fish with pico de gallo and it was oddly a fantastic combination. My favorite sides here are the kale and cornbread. The cornbread is just the way I like it - more on the dry and crumbly side where you can really taste the cornmeal. And no collard greens here; it's hipster kale. Kale cooked in a vinegary, spicy broth with pieces of pork. It's kale like you've not had before. The owner is always upbeat, funny and thoughtful. He gets his customers and delivers what they want. I can't say more about this family owned and run business. My hubby and I are glad they're closer to us and doing what they do best. read more
