Hands down, my favorite bbq in Birmingham. I love getting a couple of bbq sammiches. The salads are great too. Sadly, today I wanted a salad. But I was there too early. I showed up at breakfast time. Rules are rules. I'll get one later.

Got the burger last time. I'd definitely do the barbecue over the burger in the future! The barbecue pork sandwich was great! Great crinkle cut fries. Asked about the loaded fries. She said they come with barbecue pork, shredded cheese bacon - recommended adding jalapeños and ranch too. Sounds good. Might try those next time!

I can remember coming here when I was younger. My auntie loved this place! After many , many years this establishment came up in a recent conversation so I decided to have lunch here. Surprisingly when I arrived a little after 12 pm, there were a few people in the drive thru. The inside was closed. I placed two orders not from the lunch menu. Their prices are insanely cheap in my opinion! I ordered the rib tip plate which their plates all come with coleslaw , baked beans and fries. I ordered a pork plate too. Both plates came with a good amount of food! The one drawback for me was that I immediately got a headache after eating this pork! It had a really good smoked flavor though . Also, they put a bit too much sauce on the rib tips. The bbq sauce was tasty but just more than I prefer. The coleslaw also had way too much mayo in it. YUCK! The fries and baked beans were perfect! I love a good hole in the wall and this certainly is a hole in the wall. I will definitely come here again to try more menu items but I'm staying away from the rib tips. We did not get along! The staff was nice.

I absolutely love their food. I used to stop by every single morning when I worked in Birmingham. But today I was and Birmingham and stopped by to get some food. It was 1:59. And I was told they were closed now I'm making my hour drive back home sad and an empty stomach very upset. I just wanted barbecue sandwich.

Smoked Sausage, riblets, baked beans, fries.

Where to start! I will preface this review saying that I am not from this area and I travel a lot for work. I love trying new places upon local's recommendations. first, plate is deceptive. it looks phenomenal. I was very disappointed when I started eating. I got the two meat plate with smoked sausage and riblets with fries and beans. The Beans were a bit too sweet for me and couldve been seasoned a bit better, but were good. The fries were inconsistent, some were crisp and delicious and others were soggy and limp. also could've used a bit of salt. the smoked sausage didn't seem to have the smoked flavor and the snap that accompanies a good sausage. there was very heavy spice on the back end that was almost off putting. the riblets were extremely dry and unappetizing. even with the sauce, it was like eating jerky with bones in it. the sauce was extremely heavy on the vinegar, much heavier than other regional competitors. the tea was amazing. I am a bit confused on the price though. the menu showed the two meat combo at 18 and change and an iced tea at 1.80 but I paid 24.73. I'm not sure how the extra four dollars showed up. All in all. 25 bucks for what I received in portion size was great. The meal just lacked in the quality area. These opinions are strictly mine and I do not discourage anyone from trying this place. Customer service was ok, not the greatest, but not the worst: I probably would not eat lunch here again but would try breakfast menu.

Pit BBQ: A hidden BHAM gem. Don't go in expecting to get a five star meal and stellar service, they don't even have any tables. But do expect a unique experience and some cheap yet exceptional food. The Pit is located over in Northside in the industrial district. As I said, there's not a dining room. Just a narrow drive thru and standing only room in front of the counter. Stop in, put in your order and watch as they work their magic on the flat top. Stop by in the morning and they already have the pit fired up, cooking the meat for that day. It's just good, slightly sloppy diner food served with a smile. They have hours that fit a trucker or blue collar schedule so it's difficult to catch them while their open. But if you can, you're in for a treat! My partner LOVES the bologna lettuce and tomato with a fried egg but I love just about any of their breakfast sandwiches. Save some time and call the order in! Treat your self. It's actually worth the calories!

I have had this bookmarked forever. Not sure how or why I did, but I sure am glad that I did!!…read more It's an old school hole in the wall kind of place. These are my favorite kind of places in the world. From the moment I walked up and saw the big piles of wood outside I knew I was probably going to like this place. We had an amazing meal here. Every single bite was good. I ate myself damn near sick! I cannot wait to come back!! The day we were there the bartender was waiting on the whole place himself with just someone helping him run food and clear tables. We only had an hour before we had to be at an appointment, so when we sat down at the bar I got concerned that we would not have time to eat here. He was busy. He seemed behind. Thank goodness I was wrong. Once he finally got to us we were decided on our meals. He took our order on his little handheld register thing, grabbed our tasty beverages, and poof, off he went. C had the pulled chicken sandwich with deviled eggs and I had pulled pork, smoked chicken thighs, beans, and a giant pile of pork rinds. Holy shit it was good!!! I didn't pay attention to the fact that my thighs had AL white sauce on them until well after I had ordered. Had I know that, I would not have ordered them. I despise all things that have anything to do with mayonnaise. But.... Had I known, I would have never known. I fucking loved it! I could have eaten 10 of them. There were hands down the best smoked chicken that I have ever had. The pork was bad ass too! I dare say perfect. Beans were great, and the pork rinds side was massive and still warm from the fryer with a killer seasoning on them. There are not enough adjectives to describe this food. I am in love. I cannot wait to get some more of those damn chicken thighs!! '26 - 68

What more do you need to know?…read more We have been wanting to try this food truck for awhile as we have heard good things, but they are a little hard to find as they don't have a regular operating schedule as a food truck. They also added in some of their sausages for us to try as well. Here is a tip - if you want brisket, go early. I got the last of their brisket and the pop-up market was only halfway through! Took everything home and we had a FANTASTIC dinner. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was good! It's crazy!! Party of 6 in our group and everyone loved it! I have worn the same Pepsi hat to every restaurant, gas station, casino, gift shop, and livestock auction from Missouri to Montana. It's basically my formal wear. So naturally, when I saw a place called Eugene's, I nearly drove into the parking lot before I finished reading the sign. The young man taking my order immediately complimented my Pepsi hat. Folks, that bought more goodwill than any rewards program ever could. I told him I've worn this hat across 47 states and through three separate back injuries. He nodded like he understood the responsibility. I ordered the hot chicken. Now listen. I love chicken. I don't mean normal people love chicken. I mean if chicken ever ran for president, I'd volunteer for the campaign. This chicken was good. Real good. Crispy, juicy, enough heat to remind me I'm alive but not enough to make me start seeing old ex-boyfriends. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because I built it up too much in my head. A restaurant named Eugene's serving chicken to a man named Eugene? That's a lot of pressure for one meal. Still, I cleaned my plate, adjusted my Pepsi hat, and rode off into the sunset like the gay cowboy God intended. Great job fellas.

And good thing I did! I looked at the menu and honestly wanted to order everything cause it all sounds good. I don't eat much so I went with the two piece chicken tenders kids meal. The lady who took my order said they have a regular chicken tenders meal but I said I wanted the kids meal cause I don't eat a lot. She then said "It's the same amount of food." which, ok cool, but I don't think that should be said cause they can lose out on money. Just my opinion. And FYI, I very often get kids meals cause I really don't eat a lot. Not trying to save money or anything. The meal came with two chicken tenders, sauce, fries and a drink. Fries were good. Nothing to complain about. Those tenders tho.....YUM!!! So much flavor. And the ranch I got with it....yes! Not sure when I'll be in Birmingham again but I will 100% go back and try other items!

A menu board sitting in front of the truck had their menu for today. They had BBQ pork sandwiches, pork plates, rib plates, bbq nachos, wings, roasted corn, bbq beans, pineapple lemonade, and more. The service here was fast and friendly. The prices are about what you would expect for bbq. I got the bbq pork sandwich for $9, the rib plate with two sides -roasted corn and beans- for $18, and a pineapple lemonade for $4. Two people for $36. The amount of food you get is very generous. The bbq pork sandwich was pretty basic, just pork and sauce, but it was huge. Pork and sauce poured over the bun to fill the biggest portion of the to go plate. The meat was tender and juicy and is somewhere between pulled and chopped. The bbq sauce isn't overly sweet and has a spicy kick. It's not a hot sauce but if you are sensitive to heat, you may want to choose something else. There is a bit of after burn. My mom couldn't eat it due to an extreme aversion to spice but I had it later for dinner and I enjoyed it very much. The real star for me was the rib plate. These ribs were huge, tender, and moist, with just enough bite to keep them from falling off the bone. They are rubbed with spices and you have the option of bbq sauce, which I got. Get plenty of napkins because you will need them. These are some of the best ribs I've had in a while. I wanted to suck the bones. My sides were roasted corn and baked beans. Both of these had a little kick of heat to them, so once again, if you can't stand spice look out. Both side items were delicious. Let's talk about the pineapple lemonade. When I saw it was $4, I almost skipped it, but am I ever glad I didn't! This lemonade is so refreshing, sweet, and smooth I could have happily finished off a gallon or more. It's very sweet and there is little tang. It was so worth it. If you see this truck, get over there quick, you don't want to miss out.
