Great little bbq joint in Walker. We had quick and enjoyable service although we did stop in just ten minutes after opening so there was only a couple other groups in there. The build your own mac & cheese bowl was awesome. The sides for my husband's sandwich were plentiful. The rustic vibe is fun too. We had a GIANT wood slab table & there is plenty of pig decor too! This is a friendly place. Good service as well. We tried the "pick three" meal. The ribs were good. The pulled pork was OK and the smoked sausage was also good. The potato salad was quite bland and small portion. For the price and portion size you should get two sides. Also the corn bread as a side was s single slice :(. This is a good spot if you are in Walker. But we drove from Longville and not sure I like if enough to make the drive again. They do have a nice outdoor area and again, if you are in the area it is worth a try. read more

My fiance and I stopped in here for an early dinner and it was SO good! We ordered a bowl that had mashed potatoes, meat, a cheese sauce and some cowboy caviar. We stopped here while passing through town on our way home from Lake of the Woods - such a cute little place to stop and eat! Tons of seating inside for being small and a patio! For a BBQ place, there wasn't a smoke smell, but the food tasted smoky which makes us wonder if it was liquid smoke being used vs smoking the meat. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my boyfriend had the create your own bowl (Mac and cheese with burnt ends). While I thought my sandwich was great, his bowl was pretty greasy and wasn't his favorite meal. The house chips were good though. The Piggy does a very nice job of bringing BBQ to the north. Everything you would expect to fine is on the menu: brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs and burnt ends. All of the meats are above average and the brisket is particularly good. The sides are good across the board, and surprisingly for a BBQ place they do salads well. Add in a full bar with good cocktails (they have large ice cubes), and a nice patio and this should be on your list of places to eat in Walker. read more

The pulled pork sandwich was very mild in smoke. Not overpowering buy any means . The bun was very fresh and soft . For me the sauce was lacking . Next time I'll ask if a spicer sauce is available it was in the sweeter side . My wife loved the burnt ends which are limited so ask upon arrival. Lastly my son enjoyed the Mac and Cheese . Overall, the best thing about the dish was the corn bread. Every item, literally EVERY PIECE OF MEAT was dry. Not worth the money. We ended up packing the leftovers for our furry doggy friends back home. Let's just say, I had the chase every bite down with a gulp of beer. Easy to give this gem a solid 5 stars. I had the pulled pork sandwich and hubs had the burnt ends on a sandwich. We split a coleslaw, Mac & cheese and baked bean. Skip the kettle chips and grab an extra side, they are all really good. There is a spicy sauce but it is in little tubs not a squeeze bottle. It's not real spicy, we would actually have preferred a bit more heat, but the flavor was so good, we just don't mind. Service was also great. All around a terrific experience. read more

I'm a BBQ freak. Ohh, how I wanted The Piggy to be a knockout BBQ joint. I read that it was mentioned in the New York Times-- quite a testament. Sadly, the Piggy disappointed. They were sold out of burnt ends at 5:00 on a Saturday (when the restaurant was not yet very busy). At $17, the half-rack was pricey for a small resort town on Leech Lake in northern Minnesota, which would have been worth it had the ribs measured up. But they didn't. Yes, they have a smoky flavor. Yes they're meaty. But the ribs lack a bark, that chewy, crusty rind that I consider to be essential to a good bbq rib. And the ribs were chopped in half so each rib was really a half of a rib. The sides were reasonably priced, and tasty. I enjoyed the Carolina cole slaw and the baked beans. Others in our party also had the corn bread and said it didn't measure up to Famous Dave's. One person in our party ordered the caesar salad and was disappointed. Iceberg lettuce? Too much thick, flavorless dressing. We drove 1.5 hours to get to The Piggy. The drive was worth it to see the beautiful countryside. Sadly, the dining experience was not. read more

Everything is a little off here. I had a "smoky prime rib," which did have a little smoke but didn't seem to be seasoned much otherwise. For my side, I got mac and cheese, which ended up being really spicy. There isn't any indication of that on the menu, and I picked it because I was going for something creamy and smooth. Then for desert, the red velvet cake had very little cake, and I'm not exactly sure what the other ingredients were but cream cheese frosting was definitely not one of them. This place really left me scratching my head as to the cheffing decisions. But the logo at the front of the building is really cute, and the people were all very friendly. read more

Piggy BBQ is a wonderful little portal to the rich South. Rustic patio seating (and bar!) are a must for anyone looking to enjoy house smoked, tenderly rendered meats and crispy kettle chips. Adorable stringed lights and a fire pit add a touch of southern authenticity. Joanna Gaines would be proud. Interior is just as quaint. I can't better describe it other than to say it's a cozy and friendly rustic getaway. The menu is great for snacking and dinning alike, anything from vegan pulled "pork" (yes, it's suspiciously delicious), carnivorous classics, or even huge fluffy pretzels with yummy dipping sauce. Prices are a steal. That's something you won't read in my reviews too often. Factor in the quality, portions and experience and you have yourself one hell of a bargain. Not to mentioning my new absolute favorite Margarita joint outside of Texas. I'm so pleased that I've found a place where the Margaritas aren't the usual Northern Minnesota "red-neck" friendly sprite and sauza radioactive green impostures. Real tequila, flavorful sour mix, lime and salt all dressed up and perfectly balanced by the amazing Bar staff. The staff truly is amazing- cranking out delicious drinks, entertaining guests and delivering accurate food orders all the while cheerful and pleasant. Our drinks were brought right away along with little dishes of their kettle chips. We started off with pretzels as our appetizers. We had a group of 9, so ordered two. They can put hot and had a side of melted Gouda cheese dip. We cut the pretzels up for everyone and it was a perfect around t for everyone. Most of us ordered a pulled pork sandwich. Our helpful waitress brought out the "hot" bbq sauce (thank you!) which was dynamite on our bbq offerings paired with a Jack Pine brew or Finnegans, and cocktails: Flying Pig (small drink glass) & Titos. I was a trouble maker: I wanted my burnt ends separate from the bun for the lunch sandwich special. They made my lunch just the way I wanted: burnt ends in a bowl next to the bun. I am not really sure where to begin. We had Piggy cater our wedding in Lake George, Minnesota with around 120 people. THEY WERE AND IT WAS AMAZING! Maggie, who is in charge of the catering, was such a treat to work it! She was responsive, kind, understanding, and so sweet! We had friends and family from all over the country. Kansas City, Los Angeles, all the way to the East Coast. Everyone LOVED and RAVED about the food the night of, the next day, and still continue to talk about how this was the best BBQ they have ever had. We had a couple meals delivered while around the corner at Portage Brewing Company. I ordered the Beef Brisket, meat only and added the Mac n cheese, and my fiancé ordered the Burnt Ends Sandwich. The service was pretty quick, maybe 15min or so? Friendly server and they delivered right to our table. The food was really tasty, though the portions a bit small for the price. The meals came with kettle chips and my fiancé got less than a snack bag's worth of chips. Both meats were really good and the side of BBQ was a good balance of sweet and tangy. We were kind of surprised that the bun for the sandwich came in a wrapper but maybe that's just the age of COVID? The Mac n cheese was a good side but I probably wouldn't order again for $3.50. The single came with honey, but even though we got charged for honey with the six pack, we didn't get any.
