The staff made the experience for me! They smoke all their meat in the shed out back behind the restaurant, pickle all their own food, and make their own mayo. They had many bottles of wine to pair with their foods. We both got grilled cheeses with smoked turkey. Then we tried the egg salad, potato salad, and personally my favorite was the beet and apple salad! Yum.

I randomly found The Pickled Pig on Yelp, and honestly, it felt like striking gold. I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich, their version of a turkey Reuben, and it was ridiculously good. Most places default to coleslaw, but these guys went with kraut, because fermented foods are clearly their thing, and I'm so glad they did. That kraut was next-level. Tangy, flavorful, and piled on just right. I might have loved it even more than the turkey, which is wild to say because the smoked turkey itself was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The pickle boat was also fantastic. Crisp, bright, and full of that homemade, small-batch goodness. You can tell they care about what they're putting on the plate. As much as I loved the food, the service really stood out. The gentleman at the register was kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. He even used my name when he checked back to see how my food was, which is such a simple touch but made a big impression. The only suggestion I'd offer is to update the website pricing to match what's currently being charged in the store. The difference was noticeable, and keeping that consistent would make the experience even smoother. Bottom line: a fantastic, unexpected find with amazing food and standout service. I will absolutely be back.

We ordered the Pickled Pig for carry out one night for the first time, and it was so delicious. Everything we ordered was great, I am making plans to go back already. The brisket was perfectly done and had the best flavor, and the grits were SO good! Truly not a bad thing that we've tried. Excited to have it again!

We decided to go here for dinner after hearing that it was going to be featured on DDD, Diners Driveins and Dives on Food Network. It hasn't aired yet so it wasn't completely packed which it probably will be after the airing. I got the Pork Sandwich with kimchi on it which was a uniquely good taste. I also tried the egg salad which was different yet delicious! Also tried the Porkstrami sandwich and the chicken salad which was all amazing. They also have bones for dogs so the pup got a nice bone when we got home. Owner is nice and friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating. Not a lot of parking tho.

Super cute shop with great staff. We talked over some options and even signed up for one of their classes. Food wise everything was decent enough. I really liked the brisket but the hummus wasn't my favorite. Everyone else was pretty neutral on the food.

Friendly service, neighborhood come on in vibe. There were a couple people in there that I immediately knew were regulars. I bought kimchee, beet and apple salad, pickle soup and chichironnes to take home. I ordered one of the specials, BLT to eat in. Man. Jowl bacon and home grown tomatoes, not much more to say. I sat in the window and crushed this sandwich. I had the amazing tuna melt special a while ago which was also next level. Go Here! Period. My only issue is personal, the bread tears up my mouth a lil bit. Like Captain Crunch cereal if you know. Shall that stop me from eating more of thier amazing food, NO.

Delicious somewhat "adventurous" food, passionate staff. Indoor and outdoor seating, would definitely recommend. Everything we tried was tremendous.

The inventive Pork Burger shines. As good as what's between the bread, the potato bun itself is terrific. You'll also like the croissant that tries to contain the Smoked Chicken Salad sandwich, but the filling isn't as satisfying as the pork and kimchi on the burger. The potato salad side can be skipped unless your hunger demands a side dish and you really love average potato salad. Overall, it would be worth a return visit to try some of their other sandwiches. They have daily specials to keep it interesting, and the chef was welcoming.

The food here is amazing, what a find. We were looking for a new lunch spot, and this place did not disappoint. All the ingredients they use are so fresh, and pays dividends on the final flavor. A quaint corner store with a nice outdoor patio in the back, the vibes are great for a lunch out with friends. The menu is simple and straightforward. There's a cold case to the left of the cash register with fresh sides. Also love the open kitchen concept where you can see them prepare your food literally 5 feet away. The staff were really friendly. We opted for the pork burger and grilled veggie baba. The flavor and umami on the pork burger are on point, perfectly moist in the center. Coming from a fellow Korean, the kimchi absolutely slaps on this burger. The veggie baba was amazing as well, fresh veggies perfect for the summer and delicious spread lathered on rustic bread. We also got a side of potato salad that really rounded out the meal. Definitely coming back for many more lunches. Excited to try everything else on the menu. They also have a dinner menu some nights, would be interesting to check that out!

I stopped by for a quick lunch during the week and wanted an easy to-go sandwich. They have a medium sized menu but a lot of different options which makes it a bit hard to pick haha! I decided on a reuben sandwich with all of the fixens inside. I was surprised that I was the only one in there because of the amount of rave reviews. It was a small quaint little place. The employees were suppperrrr nice and gave me a lot of time to think about my order. The vibes in there were very cool with fun music and just overall a good time. Now onto the Reuben. Holy cow! It was juicy and very flavorful, with the perfect amount of sauerkraut. The bread was toasty and the sandwich was nice and warm but not too hot. I think this will be a new spot for me for lunch!

Essentially for me I had waited too long to eat and the idea of waiting longer was a non starter for me. Sandwiches are not my go to food outside the house, it seems silly on some level. However, the sandwich I had was fantastic and well balanced. There was a good amount of everything without it being too much. Sometimes it's too much. This was great. They also had good, homemade or freshly made sides like potato salad and other salads you could get. It was great.

But what I remember most of all is the food, particularly ducking into a little shop off a piazza somewhere to grab whatever I could buy and eat while we walked to our next sightseeing destination--a pastry, a slice of pizza, or a sandwich. At Alveo, I almost feel like I'm right back there. The restaurant is small and lively, not a place to linger exactly but a place where you can tell you'll be taken care of. Just as many patrons are ordering to go as they are to stay. And the sandwiches? Good enough to power many, many steps of sightseeing across cobblestones, or just get you through the afternoon at your home or office in Cincinnati. They've absolutely nailed the ingredients on every sandwich I've tried, with high-quality components selected specifically for how they go together. (Like those little sandwich shops in Europe, there are no substitutions here--unless you'd like gluten free bread.) The bread? Unreal how it can hold these constructions together while being soft and delicious. The meats? Perfection. The cheese? Incredible. That pistachio stuff? I see it in my dreams. The one area where Alveo definitely deviates from its European brethren is portion size--these sandwiches are huge! They come in a paper wrapper, inside a to-go box, and believe me, you will probably need it. Each time I've been to Alveo I've ended up eating about half the sandwich for lunch and the rest for dinner, maybe with a snack in between, and felt perfectly satisfied for the day. So, yes, the $20+ price tag might discourage you, but don't let it. It's a $20 investment in a very, very delicious day.

People are always surprised when they hear that we often drive the almost hour trip from Dayton to…read moreCincinnati for dinner but it's worth it for the treasure trove of independent establishments like The Wheel Oakley! I had heard that their pop-up dinners sell out very quickly so I was ready the day they were posted and grabbed a few spots for one of their February dates. We arrived and were greeted with a glass of Prosecco and then we found a seat at the long community table set for 20; it was so much fun getting to know the people seated next to us! Dinner was delicious! Four courses-the gnocchi with sausage was our favorite dish of the night.

If you follow them on socials, you can score a seat at the pop-ups. The place is an old house with a lot of character. The food for carryout is fantastic and their bread is fantastic. We live in West Chester and have driven down to there a few times just to pick up delicious dinners. We just attended our first dinner there last Tuesday. Oh My Goodness! What a treat. Jordan greeted us with a glass of Prosecco and directed us where to sit a long table that seats 20. We introduced ourselves to our seatmates and then our first dish arrived. Chef does explain the food before we had each dish, however we wished there was more background and history as to how this place came into being. So expect fantastic food without a lot of details. The first dish was a salad made with all local ingredients. It was so fresh and the dressing made with fresh dill was fantastic. The second dish was a ravioli with northern Italian cheese on a bed of butternut squash puree and brown butter. The pasta was SO delicate and the flavors complimented each other so well. The third dish was a 6 hour braised pork shoulder with ricotta gnocchi in a sauce with Calabrian chilis and I don't know what else. We have been to Italy and all the Italian restaurants in Cincinnati and never had anything like this. It was truly phenomenal. Dessert was a apple upside down cake served warm with whipped cream...fantastic. You bring your own wine, and Jordan is on it by never letting your glass get empty, pouring water, and clearing dishes. Service was so great and she is so friendly and accommodating. The cost was a very reasonable $100/pp and SO worth it. There is no menu, so you go in just devouring what Chef has prepared.
