One of my absolute favorite go to spots for dinner or a great beer. I've been going to The Perch for years from a regular dinner to a beer dinner and even a private event for my bridesmaids, The Perch is a great space for any occasion! The inside is spacious and instagram worthy and the service is amazing! I love the team there and it makes visiting feel like you're seeing friends. The food is fantastic! Their prime rib is one of our favorites and we always get the croquettes! The calypso shrimp is also fantastic and the spaetzle mac n cheese. The beer is always amazing, they try new things all the time, like a summer favorite, the mangonada which was so tasty! They have classics too like their pilsner. Everything is great here! read more

Updating review... Overall, the service here can be hit or miss - sometimes a little slow, even when it seems they have plenty of workers. Previously I marked my review as 1 star with a bad experience with staffing issues (one server that was also the only hostess and bartender for 17 tables) while the manager on duty (Sergio) was not helping and unprofessional. I still think he needs additional management training to include how to treat customers and how to be a team player in assisting the employees. After the bad experience, the new manager Victoria reached out (from my negative online reviews) and offered a free meal to make up for the horrible experience we had. We go here often, so making the negative review wasn't for a free meal, it was to warn others that if there is a staffing shortage, they may want to take their business elsewhere. After the bad incident, we went back on the following Saturday afternoon. There were plenty of workers. We did not ask for Victoria when we went in. We wanted to see what the experience would be like as regular customers. We were sat quickly, waiter was quick to bring water (although I am not sure why they do not provide ice with water). We ordered some appetizers and iced tea. (Iced tea was weak/watered down, so we asked for something else - this is our every experience, so now we know to skip the tea here unless they change how they make it). The manager Victoria came around (as she was to all tables to check in, she was helping to clear tables, etc.) several times. On one of Victoria's trips around, we introduced ourselves and let her know we were in the area, so we stopped in and the current experience was much better than the time before. We have been in several times. Most times the food and service are excellent. There is a decent drink selection during the week for happy hour. Also, looks like kids eat free during the week from 4-6. We don't have little ones, but still a good offering since most restaurants no longer offer this. Food that we love: skillet cornbread, croquettes, black bean chicken chili, ribs (ask for extra sauce) with mashed potatoes, and the chicken dip sandwich. I recommend asking for ice with your water and not ordering the iced tea as it is not good. Food wise - we haven't had anything that we don't like. TLDR: The Perch has redeemed themselves after a bad experience. We will be back. Hopefully with the new manger, Victoria, there will not be severe staffing shortages. Get the cornbread with every meal! read more

The Perch - Receipt - was 2 iced teas and cornbread - Breweries Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

The food was tasty, but expensive. Iceberg ceasar salad and another salad, fries and two cokes plus a $9 tip was $52! I get it, things are expensive but 2 salads fries and cokes for $52 is crazy. read more

Service was inviting, gracious and our server Jim was funny! We were seated for a hot minute before a child at the table across from us started wailing, so I asked Jim to move us and he was so cool about it. The space is bright but cozy with super tall ceilings and huge comfy booths. The lobster deviled eggs were excellent and perfectly balanced. Star of the show for my taste buds were the pork belly bites with a delicious sauce and crunchy cashews. The tuna poke is served like nachos over the crispiest but not greasy wontons. read more

It was fine, overpriced for what it was. Not a ton of gluten free options, but everything else was closed so it worked. I got a salad and my gf got a burger, both of which were pretty good. The water glasses were dirty and the service was kind of slow but it was busy. Very millennial place, but be prepared to drop a pretty penny read more

great ambiance, good food, and service. The monkey bread was delious. the crab cake benedict was delicious.

Everything looks great, but there are problems. Donna's salmon was pretty good, but those big chunks of cucumber leaked a lot of moisture into the salmon. Really don't understand the preparation of the cukes. My prime rib was done to my liking, but way too much salt. It sucked some of the juices out and it came out a bit chewy. Even the aus just was salty. Good mashed potatoes. And their IPA was quality. Many other places to try before giving Perch another try. read more

The Perch is such a good restaurant. It's not very often that you get good vibes, music, food and drinks at such a good price. This is my second time coming here and it was just as good as the first. Neil was a GREAT server. Made my experience even better. I can't wait to come back. Highly suggest the steak frites and rotisserie chicken. read more

We love this place for a kid friendly meal out! The food is great as are the drinks. And staff is very accommodating and helpful. Definitely recommend for families. Their patios are very nice as well! read more

We had lunch there on Saturday. The food is consistently good and portions are appropriate for the price. The also consistently service is top notch. My husband likes to try a different place every time we go out and yet, we do end up at Perch quite frequently as we both agree that the food and service is completely worth the visit and price. read more

Came in for drinks & desserts and was not disappointed. The carrot cake was sweet but delicious. My favorite drink was the lavender haze; it was very subtle and fresh. I would love to come back and try some of their salads; they looked delicious. Service was very patient with our larger and rowdy group; we were grateful for that. They have both indoor and outdoor seating for warm and semi-warm weather. read more

Price: 2 for $65 (after sign up for $5 back, and use cash to avoid 3% COB fee) Food: I'd love to give a 3/5 on the food here coz they are kind of salty, that's why you need to order something to drink I guess, lol. Unfortunately, I was waiting for a long time to catch our server go get another water cos they are too busy, which make me feel more salty with the food only. The cheese curd actually have more than 65% vegetables, taste good but far to call it cheese curd. Service: 4/5 our server is really nice, very patient to introduce the drinks to us. Especially mentioned all the draft beer are in-house only, can't find it outside. And introduce us some of their sister restaurants. Ambiance: I love the loft style vibe, they have four different area, the bar, high table, regular table and couch. Make sure to rsvp if you prefer a couch. read more

Went there on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend with my wife and our son's family. Beautiful view . Terrible experience . Arrived at 6:30 and was told it would be 45-60 minute wait . That was no problem. After being seated and waiting for service, we were told that they didn't have any dishes that contained chicken. ( take a look at their menu.) that was quite a bit , including the grandchildren's tenders. Everything that came out was slower that it should normally take. Thank goodness we ordered the grandchildren's food immediately. 45 minutes after the adults ordered entrees . We were told that " they no longer had the ribs , it was served to the person before our order" . We had to wait longer for them to cook the new entree. No apologies. We left there at 9 PM. The table next to us of 8 people ordered water and a soda . Paid for the soda and left because they didn't have anything worth ordering available. read more

Lunch vibes at The Perch in Wicker Park did not disappoint. Started with fresh guacamole and warm tortilla chips, then dove into the Wrightwood salad--rotisserie chicken, goat cheese, cornbread croutons, and citrus vinaigrette bringing it all together. The smashed cucumbers had the perfect crunch with a bright Asian vinaigrette, and the spaetzle mac & cheese with bacon was rich and comforting in all the right ways. Shout out to our server for bonding with us over zodiac signs. Check them out! read more

Wonderful food and service today at The Perch! We tried the monkey bread and lobster deviled eggs for apps and both were delicious. The deviled eggs are heavy on the mustard, so if that's the way you like them you'll love it! And so inventive to add lobster to a deviled egg. They also had a build your own Bloody Mary bar. Nice space with a fun atmosphere! read more

Service was a bit slow, but the food was mostly good. I'm not the biggest fan of some food items with southern flair, but I didn't expect so much of it to have southern twist. The place was beautiful and was a unique setup. They definitely have a great playlist playing over the speakers though, which added to the vibe while we waited for food. read more

Don't get all the great reviews it is below average. I don't like beer so can't talk about that. I liked the buffalo shrimp. Lobster deviled eggs are OK potato croquettes average and not very warm. Crab cakes as the main dish overpriced and smelling weird not in a fresh way. I live in So Cal used to fresh seafood and this was not. Greasy and BIG cakes. There are better places to try in downtown Chicago. read more

On a recent weekday when a friend and I both played "hooky" from work, we decided to treat ourselves to a nice lunch. And I'm so glad we selected The Perch for our treat! Impeccable customer service: A server who was attentive, engaging, but not over bearing. A great menu selection with a variety all upscale American fare. The spinach & artichoke dip, though not as good as my homemade one, is still pretty tasty. The blackened mahi sandwich was delicious: It's been challenging for me to find a good piece of mahi mahi since moving from the West Coast, and The Perch delivered. But, the star dish here: the Smoked Trout Toast. One word: Speechless! You MUST order this each time you come, or don't bother coming. LOL read more

This review is based on a Chicago Restaurant Week experience Service 5/5, Ambiance 5/5, Food 3/5 Hoping the disappointment with the food was a Restaurant Week issue and would be willing to try again! Our favorite item was the Carrot Cake. The Short Rib Rigatoni was good flavor and texture, but it was just really heavy. The Salmon was a weird cut and the charred Broccoli was already cold & hard to cut - wishing it had been served with a steak knife. It also felt like the plate was missing something like a grain - I would have paired it with a rice pilaf or mashed potatoes. The Wrightwood Salad was a weird mosh of items together. read more

Came here for restaurant week and it did not disappoint! Service is amazing, they are so quick and very nice! Vibe is awesome, very cute decor and open space! I did the restaurant week brunch. I started with a mimosa, then the lobster deviled eggs. These were good, you could t taste the lobster as much as you think. I then had the chorizo tostadas. These were full of flavor, runny egg, very fresh! Also came with a side of fruit which was soooo good and it had tajin! The cutest place! read more

Another trip to Chicago, another tasty meal at The Perch! It was the restaurant my entire family was looking forward to the most and while we planned to go twice, a late of binge watching TV led to oversleeping, so we will have to dream about (and try!) their brunch on our next trip out! Pros- their food, just as delicious as we all remembered! My son literally wrote a paper in his French class about his excitement of going back and trying more food! The cornbread which we all eyed last time, but didn't order was crispy around the edges and nice and moist in the middle, mmmm! We also tried a few other new dishes.... I had their steak salad. It was simple, but super flavorful! My son ate their French dip, which he also enjoyed. Husband had their sliders (dish repeat) and cleared his plate rather quickly! Croquettes were also just as tasty as we all remembered and new shared plates of fried cheese curds (OMG, soooo good!), Mac and cheese, grilled artichokes, and deviled eggs were also on point! Aaaaaand we had all 3 desserts (went with friends, party of 7 in total!) and devoured them all really fast! The Oreo ice cream cookie and carrot cake were standouts, but peanut butter pie was also delicious! Service was also as we remembered - super friendly staff, quick execution of their dishes and yummy cocktails that went down very nicely! Cons- they didn't have the warm Brussel sprout salad, which we were also excited to have again, so that was a huge bummer.... I hear it's coming back soon, so if you see it on the menu, order it!! The Perch isn't an obvious choice for those out of town, but it should be. It's one of our top spots in Chicago, and even though my Chicago collection is now roughly at 150 restaurants, we will always make room to come back again and again! read more

My friend and I ordered the Iron Skillet Cornbread, Prime Rib French Dip Sandwich, and the Wrightwood Salad. 1 year since I've been here?! Time for an update! I came here yesterday with a group of 6 girls. We made reservations around a day or 2 in advance and they had pretty good availability on such short notice. This restaurant is super spacious, open, and aesthetically pleasing. We were sat quickly in a booth towards the back that accommodated more people. I can't remember our server's name for the life of me, but he was an older gentleman and such a kind & attentive server! He was patient with our bigger group and answered any questions we had. The hosts were also very approachable and nice. The food and drinks here are just such a hit. The spinach artichoke dip is something we always order here and definitely recommend. Amongst the table we got guacamole, rigatoni pasta, asparagus, buffalo cauliflower, mac and cheese, turkey burger, and chicken dip sandwich. Everyone loved their meals so much. I especially liked the mac and cheese, rigatoni pasta, and spinach artichoke dip. The cocktails are good, as well. Everything is reasonably priced in my opinion, as well. Such a cute spot in Wicker Park! I'll be back! read more

The Perch has become one of my favorite places to celebrate, unwind, and enjoy. I always try to sit at the bar or in the bar area because if Taylor is working you are absolutely in for amazing conversation, incredible recommendations, and service on par with a Michelin restaurant. Their warm smile and joie de vivre really makes you feel at home. Every app and entree I've ever tried has been satisfying and delicious. Don't sleep on the daily soups or the Wrightwood salad. I absolutely love the Squeaky Alien and the house made syrups that change by season for that homemade seltzer. We always get a grilled vegetable platter to split and always have a great leftovers meal the next day. This is a top tier neighborhood spot. I cannot say enough good things about this incredible restaurant. read more

I come here often. The service and food are outstanding. But what keeps me away is the music... awful!

Everything is definitely delicious. The ambiance is super chic from the outside to the inside. For more on the aesthetic follow my IG @damnthosesteaktacos for a visual of all my reviews. From the crab toast to the deviled eggs! I was not ready for the deviled eggs just amazing. I recently went back for an actual breakfast, I can't say I enjoyed the hash browns. -For hash browns, I like to taste the potatoes, they were more on the Au Gratin of texture and flavor. If you like Au Gratin then by all means you'd love it. Everything else was amazing. The Atticus is a must so get it! I always get two lol Of course don't forget the classic Expresso martini it's amazing Everyone is so welcoming & Briana is amazing every time I see her. Shout out to Michelle, she's super sweet and I appreciate the vibes every time I come in. Don't get me started on the music you'll be ordering from lunch to dinner read more

The CAULIFLOWER. Forget everything else and go for the roasted CAULIFLOWER. I'll be dreaming about that taste for at least a week. They have a rather small choice of menu options but enough to satisfy any type of eating preference. The food was delicious, the service FAST - and I mean like Jimmy John's fast - and the ambiance was fresh and inviting. We had the peanut butter pie for dessert and that was amazing. The crust was definitely made from scratch and the portion was hearty. Enough to regret taking those extra 4 bites that you couldn't resist I will be back. For the CAULIFLOWER. read more

Got brunch here on a Saturday and ate outside. Lots of tables with umbrellas which I appreciated. The inside has a nice open atmosphere as well. Our table split the cinnamon roll as an appetizer. It comes with 5 smaller rolls, good for a group! It was tasty and a good app to split. For lunch I got biscuits and gravy which was two large biscuits with plenty of gravy. I added scrambled eggs on the side for $4. I also couldn't resist getting a side of hash browns as they were creamy and cheesy. Friendly service! Would come again! read more
