Spanakopita
Marie P.

I went here for a quick lunch. I generally love Greek diners, but this place was just okay. I was impressed by their long and varied menu, and was excited to see so many Greek classics on the menu. I opted for the Spanikopita, which is a spinach pie with filo dough. It came with a hearty portion of tzatziki sauce. Unfortunately, the spinach was flavorless. It almost tasted as if it had been wet when cooked. I did like the crispness of the filo. The tzaziki was inedible to me because the garlic was so strong. I did try some else's fries and enjoyed those. I really wanted to love this place because I love Greek food. I was pleasantly surprised when I got 10% off for checking in while there. I'm going to try ordering something else next time I go here.

Awesome service, and great food! Our coffee cups were always full and the bacon was cooked to perfection. I love the classic diner feel of the place. We would definitely come back! Only took one star off because the bathroom wasn't the cleanest and the sinks could be easier to use.

I've reviewed the PepperMill Cafe before but will do it again to ensure everyone knows what a gem this place is. We order breakfast from here twice a week at least. It is SO flavorful and good. The potatoes are decadent and matches perfectly with scrambled egg. I look forward to visiting again.

Chicken Parm panini with waffle fries. Would have liked more fries, sandwich was ok.

PepperMill Cafe is one of many jack-of-all trades family restaurants in the south High Point/Archdale area, and our experience was just fine. Nothing remarkable that would make us really want to come out of our way to visit again, but if we were in the area, we'd give it another shot. We came in on a Sunday for lunch around 1pm, and maybe that is why our food wasn't great, we didn't realize they close up at 2pm. Everything looked a lot better in the pics inside the menu than it did on our plates. Flavor was OK, but the portions were pretty sparse. See my pics for examples... but my steak and cheese sandwich was mostly bread, as was my wife's chicken parm sandwich (with a stingy amount of fries to boot). It wasn't particularly expensive, and it's not like I was expecting anything amazing, but it just seems like it was a down day around here. We'll give it a shot another time.

MARINATED CHICKEN ALFREDO - Large. Notice there's no chicken in sight.

We just received two orders of Alfredo with chicken and broccoli. They forgot the chicken! Not to mention the sauce is very bland. Not sure who is working in the kitchen but they clearly didn't pass the cooking class. There's no excuse for not reading your directions.

Food was delicious, our waitress was very helpful. They have a lot to choose from. We came here on the way to Winston Salem. The staff clearly have a lot of returning customers because most of them addressed the customer by name. I ordered the chicken and waffles and the waitress suggested that I get the cream cheese butter and caramel. So. Good. So glad we stopped!!

Exactly what you'd expect out of a breakfast diner, but I was fine with that! I asked about gluten free options and they pretty much said I'd be good! They didn't make me super confident in my meal but I enjoyed what I ordered and felt great afterwards. They were understanding and accommodating, making for a great experience. Food came out quickly after I ordered and tasted fresh. It wasn't a spectacular breakfast but it was good. Needed lots of seasoning but it seemed like the chefs and staff were meeting the needs of the typical breakfast goers. Needs flavor but otherwise a mediocre restaurant. Might also be nice to have fresher, as well as gluten free options.

House salad

It was time for lunch on a Saturday, and I did not want to do fast food while in the area. Noticed this local place and decided to give it a try. One of the Saturday specials is chicken parmigiana, which includes the beverage and a salad. House salad was brought to the table quickly. Since my server told me the chicken parmigiana was a large portion, I had only a little of the salad. The server was attentive and asked if everything was ok with the salad since I didn't eat much of it. When I have ordered chicken parmigiana anywhere else, it is served as a chicken breast on top of spaghetti, sauce and cheese. Here the chicken was actually chopped into chicken pieces and not served as a chicken breast. Flavor was fine and certainly an ample portion, but in my opinion the dish shouldn't have been labeled as chicken parmigiana/

Our waitress was lovely and we simply asked her to take it away and my mom was going to finish her salad. At no point did we ask to get it for free, she simply did not want it as it turned her stomach. A few minutes later this old woman with short grey hair comes over and proceeds to tell my senior mother that she should've told her at the first bite; and that half the burger was eaten. She then said she would put the two raw bites in the middle back on the grill. First of all, two bites were taken, not half the burger. Second of all, who puts a burger back on the grill after it's been eaten- that is nasty. Then! I say something about how rude this woman was after my mother walks out while I'm paying and this woman comes BACK out into the lobby and proceeds to start screaming and cursing at me that she wasn't rude to my MOM. She absolutely was rude. She's a piece of work. I come from a long line of restaurant owners and if you're so hard up that you have to argue with customers about the quality of your food, then maybe it's time to close. Faced with a banana French toast craving, it seemed as good an option as any, and it proved to be better than expected. Cagney's is spacious and seemed even more so as it was largely empty when I stopped by on a Tuesday morning (they likely get considerably busier on the weekends). The menu is big too: breakfast options included plates, omelets, benedicts, pancakes, waffles, and more. Come here later in the day, and you can find everything from salads and sandwiches to Greek to Tex-Mex to pizza. I opted for two pieces of Bananas Foster French Toast with a scrambled egg on the side. Service was fast and friendly, and the kitchen churned out the food quickly. At $8, it was practically a steal and though not the best I've had (it could have used some chopped nuts), it was better than it needed to be for that price point. The banana/brown sugar/whipped cream topping on the French toast made for a sweet bite, and the egg wasn't overcooked. I don't know how Cagney's rates as a lunch/dinner option or during busier times, but for a weekday breakfast, it's well worth your consideration for a good bite at an affordable price.

I've tried the buffalo chicken pizza which was surprisingly good. The right amount of spice, crispy crust and generous toppings. Within the group we also had the pork chops. They were much thinner than expected. The two together make 1 decent pork chop. However, they were well seasoned and cooked properly. To be so thin, they were not dry. The waitress recommended the chicken souvlaki platter which was a hit. It's a busy restaurant but luckily we did not have to wait to be seated even on a weekend evening. I'll be going again.
