This is a great little hotel, bar and restaurant in the very pretty town of Aberaeron. They have…read morerecently extended the bar and restaurant so can now accomodate many more people but I don't think it has lost any of its charm because of it. It really is the place to go in the Summer, people are spilling out of it clutching their drinks and the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. If you do manage to get a table to eat in the restaurant the food will not disspoint you. Most of it seems to be locally sourced and it has a very good and quite informative menu. It is a bit pricey, but its still a good place to go for a special occassion. I have taken my 2 oldest children there (8 & 6 years) and they enjoyed it but I don't think I'd want to take my younger two there as it would be too stressful. I've never stayed in the hotel but have heard that it is very nice, the photos in the brochure certainly seem good and it is in an amazing postion.

The bar and restaurant are very busy. Deservingly so. The free continental breakfast is a culinary delight and the rooms are very nice. Stayed here for a few days and wished it could have been longer. When we found out we had no hot water in our room the manager came up personally offered us another room on the other wing of the hotel that had hot water. We thanked them and they assisted us into another MUCH nicer room and even offered to have the bar send some drinks to our room. Very classy and very well handled. But I do want to apologize to the Harbourmaster staff, five stars are all they will let me give you guys! Sorry!

On our arrival the owner, Martin, was immediately on hand to help with luggage and welcome us to the lovely Ty Mawr. We were delighted with our huge suite room, named after previous guest Kiera Knightly, the bedroom with lounge area was dual aspect overlooking the free range chickens and lovely grounds and larger than the whole of our own upstairs house! The luxurious and modern bathroom with a spa bath and rainshower made for a very relaxing pre dinner freshen up. The hotel suite rooms also have their own computers with free broadband, maybe not the speediest of computers but useful for looking up local places and event. Tea tray included delicious home made biscuits, only tiny criticism could be lack of variety with only standard but high quality tea and coffee sachets. An extremely comfortable and huge bed which we were sad to leave. The food, as the previous reviewer of Ty Mawr has written, is delicious and of a very high quality both for dinner and a wonderful breakfast...want more home made bread and toast yum.

The welcome from the owners is like being greeted by friends. I have eaten in their small restaurant on three occasions. On each occasion it was full. The clients include many locals who have, like me, discovered this little gem in the midst of West Wales. The food is sourced locally and the menu reflects what is in season. The rooms are generous and beautifully furnished with modern, lavishly fitted bathrooms. The hotel has 5 star rating and the restaurant has been awarded 1 AA rosette. I highly recommend the restaurant, the food is absolutely superb.

With one of our beloved friends, a would-be DJ at the helm, the family-run Tenby House Hotel is populated by Jacks of all Trade left, right and centre. Really what you're here for is the booze and the atmosphere. The music is always pumping - it might not be your cup of tea but it's loud and it's perfect for a drunken dance. At Christmas the bar really comes alive with the twinkliest of lights and the most ostentatious of decorations, and it's the sort of place where you can't help but down a few shots to kick the night off. Also, if you're lucky enough to know any of the staff (and it doesn't take long... they're very sociable), you might find yourself in one of Tenby House's world famous lock-ins. These are always memorable, and if you get the chance, get involved. There's a great outdoor area for the smokers and sun-worshippers, and the place itself is huge. The toilets can get a little waterlogged but that's more down to over-zealous clientele than lazy staff. It's got character written through it like a stick of Welsh rock and the fact that such an enormous place gets packed out so easily is testament to its popularity. You can't holiday in Tenby or even nearby Saundersfoot without giving this legendary place a try.
