The name is confusing since the hotel is in Saundersfoot, however, there is nothing confusing about it's exceptional location and views.
Rooms cost £200-£280 a night, but since I live nearby I have not availed myself of them, however, I eat there often.
There is a restaurant and a less formal seating area, all overlook Saundersfoot harbour and the sea. The view is wondrous by day and by night.
Considering the high price of the rooms, food here is not over the top. It is mostly on a par with any pub or restaurant. Pembrokeshire may be a poor area, but pub and restaurant food is rarely cheap, there is so little competition.
Service is good, though the barman can be abrupt sometimes and the basic error of holding a glass of wine etc by the rim instead of by the stem is prevalent with the English/Welsh staff, though not the French. Basic training falls down in this way, however, generally speaking the service is good without being overly attentive. You won't be hurried out and I particularly enjoy having a meal later in the day/early evening. This is the favourite haunt for me and a particular friend.
Recently I took two American ladies there for early dinner and they absolutely loved the food and the beautiful views.
The restaurant has a very good menu and the food is good and well presented, service is a bit more attentive here, but I would rather be offered things twice than ignored which so often happens elsewhere.
I hate what I call, 'dump it and run' places which pretend to be gastro pubs, charge high prices but their service is nil. I like a linen napkin and for someone to notice when I need something.
This is a lovely place for a romantic dinner, lunch or afternoon tea, difficult to top the view. read more
