Pub food very reasonable and non-offensive. We have two toddlers and had no problems with lunch.

Beautiful view. Service lacking. I wrote a review saying the hotel and view were beautiful but the…read moreservice fell short. As I was putting our luggage in the car the manager--accompanied by another gentleman--came over and said he would like to discuss my review. It quickly became apparent that he wanted to dress me down. I told him I was leaving and didn't want to quibble. He then said Americans are rude. I told him that I was English and born in Essex, my mother was born just up the road in Brecon, my father was born in London, and that I had a British passport. He responded that he hoped his family hadn't had to live near my family in England. He then turned to my wife and started making disparaging remarks about me to her. I asked him to stop. I had to do it several times. And then we left. In contrast, the next hotel we stayed at was the Cliff Hotel near Cardigan. we discovered the heater wasn't working, and we were without heat for a day. We received sincere apologies for the management, a handwritten note saying how sorry they were and that they were crediting 10% off our bill. What a contrast. I really loved the Hotel in The view in Tenby, I was taken aback by being accosted by the manager. I've never had like anything like that happen to me, I'm friendly and outgoing. It was very disconcerting.

We danced our way through tea...however, it didn't really fit the atmosphere for afternoon tea. We were not given different options or told what was included, especially when a member of the party has dietary restrictions. The deserts looked as if they were purchased from Sainsbury's down the road. I would recommend spending a little more for a true afternoon tea.

If it was possible to give negative stars, I would. I made the reservations online at Booking.com…read moretwo days prior to arrival. It was the only hotel left with ocean views and a good price. We walked in and were immediately assailed by very loud Indian music and a strong curry smell. We decided to press forward, they said no ocean views available and put us on the top floor, room 401. We decided to look at the room and discuss. We had a wonderful view of the trash heap on the roof of the building behind. The other thing we noticed was the room door had been kicked in, several times and was repaired but not well. Then there was water on the floor and the worst part was the beds. You sat on it and it sank all the way to the floor. We discussed and told the man at the desk that with those beds and the broken door, we couldn't stay in that room. Did he have another? Referred us to 306, we went to check out the room, we stopped abruptly because there were clothes strewn across the bed, a suitcase open on the floor and a light on in the bathroom. We left quickly and went down in the death trap of an elevator to the desk and told him there must be a mistake, there was someone in that room. He sighed and said, "They checked out, we are just watching their luggage. Did you at least check the beds?" It was almost 9pm at this time, check out is 11am. I questioned this and he proceeded to get more irritated. He said, "Fine, you don't believe me" and "I was going to get the room cleaned for you but you didn't even try out the beds. I'll do whatever you want, I'm at your mercy here." However, he couldn't offer us another room. When we asked for our money back, he would only agree to half. It was late so we accepted that. Went across the street to Premier Inn. Night and day difference. So much better!! Royal Lion proceeded to not only NOT refund our $181 dollars but charge an additional $113. We had to go through our credit card company to get it back. Booking.com that we booked through told us we had to deal directly with the hotel since they were refusing to give our money back. Horrible experience on an otherwise fantastic vacation. Three weeks, 8 hotels across the entire UK and this is the only one that gave us a bad time. That should tell you something. Apparently, these Indian gentlemen had only taken over the lease a week prior to our stay (per the other hoteliers in the area). I think they should have taken some customer services classes first. I'd give this place a miss if I were you!!

Perched on a cliff above the small seaside resort and harbour of Saundersfoot, the St Bride's Hotel…read moreis regarded as one of West Wales's best hotels. The main draw is its Spa. The hotel itself is very well appointed, with tastefully decorated bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms all in a pastel New England theme. Most bedrooms have a sea view and balcony. The bathrooms feature high-end toiletries featuring natural minerals and botanicals, if you like that kind of thing. There is a spacious bar and restaurant area, again with wide views, and an outside terrace area. I visited as part of a family party: the reception staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful, and very efficient. The staff generally were very helpful and friendly and room service was excellent. The bed was superbly comfortable. The food is good: breakfast consists of an extensive buffet, with hot food cooked to order. There's a separate lunch and dinner menu. The portions were very generous, so bear that in mind if you want to leave room for dessert. The only misfire was my starter of Jerusalem Artichoke with a truffle veloute and egg yolk, which was served with charred quinoa - the latter just brought a weird grittiness to the dish. That was a pity, as everything else ordered went down well. The steaks were particularly generous and cooked exactly as requested. The Spa consists of two small steam rooms, a sauna and an outside heated sea water infinity pool with a hydrotherapy area (a bit like a jacuzzi), with a swan-neck fountain that pummels your neck and shoulders like a massage. There's a large relaxation area with beds and sofas with complimentary beverages. Additional treatments include the usual range of massages, etc. A 90 minute session is free for residents, but needs to be booked well in advance as numbers are limited. Packages can also be booked by non-residents. Overall, this is a lovely hotel with very good rooms and service, and, with the Spa, makes for a perfect for a relaxing weekend break.

You can book ahead for a 90 minute access to the spa daily. It includes 3 sauna rooms, 2 wet and 1 dry. My favorite was the thermal pool with jets. It also has this swan neck jet which can be used to massage the neck. Bonus, it is an infinity pool, looking on to the beach. Its a wonderful experience. The daily breakfast, also included with the room is awesome too. You can order fresh cooked breakfast in addition to the buffet. Definitely a luxurious experience.
