Tried to give constructive feedback to the hotel chain, but I only got a cut and paste reply offering a free night's stay (no thanks!)
We arrived some time after 14.00 and had to wait for quite some time to be able to check in to our room because the reception was also the bar area and the bar customers were taking priority.
Upon entering our room (Room 1), we were met by a persistent smell of mould that someone had tried to mask by spraying liberal amounts of air freshener everywhere. We kept the window open as long as possible to try and vent out the smell and the air freshener, but it didn't dissipate. There was dust along the walls, what we hope were coffee stains on the walls, and a bottle cap on the floor from a previous resident. The bathroom was disgusting, with stained grout, a pink stained shower curtain, and a really filthy pull cord for the lights. The room really needed a deep clean.
There is very little noise insulation from the bar below, so you will hear the partying below until well after about an hour after the bar closes, when the bar staff leaves. Room 1 is also next to the store cupboard, so there will be noise in the evening and after closing from staff rummaging around.
The breakfast was tasteless and we had to unstick our glasses from the table! The waitress got our order wrong and then proceeded to get other tables orders wrong too.
In general the facilities were a bit grubby, and in need of cleaning and repair. It was very poor value for money compared to other places we stayed at in the area. read more
